N7EDK Operated by: Ed

Well, I made one contact while portable here in Victorville,CA. My home QTH is AZ. I'm here for the holidays with my brother and his wife.

Had the KX3 set up running 5 watts into my Buddipole vertical antenna I use camping. Band conx on 20 meters were nosiy,I think this is my first SKS, I'm normally working at night, with the holiday, I had a chance to work it.

Merry Xmas to all, and see everyone Jan 1 for SKN and K3Y !

73 de Ed

K2HT Operated by: Dick

ADØAB Operated by: Jim

A nice way to end Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to all and to all, better luck next time.

W1MIG Operated by: Mike

Thanks for the opportunity to get back into the cw mode..digital is fast and fun but cw takes skill.

AB8KT Operated by: Ken

No stations with an R in their callsign, so that puts me out of the running for any bonus points.

KX3, 5 watts, wire ant

WB7EUX Operated by: Tom

I snuck out of the house for one hour at least! tnx and great fun.

N3ADF Operated by: Jim

Much fun as always.

K6HTN Operated by: Kate

Have never used this key before ... turned out to be quite a lot of work! It's not mounted on anything yes, so I had to hold it down! Both 20 m & 40 m were pretty good, although as usual I had trouble getting through pile-ups. Good Christmas fun!

... from a box of keys bought from an estate sale last year

W4HAY Operated by: Frank

Only worked 40 Meters this time. Brutal QRN here for most of the sprint, but settled down toward the end. Great fun, as always. Merry Christmas everyone, and may your New Year be healthy and prosperous.

KBØETU Operated by: Phil

Lots of bad weather about 40 miles west of me with tornados, rain, high wind and it is heading my way. Glad to hear so many people on the air tonight. Band started out quiet and then the QRN started and even had some loud QRM. But, a nice sprint to finish up the year. It was a good Christmas and hope everyone has a great New Year. 72/73 Phil

KB1OIQ Operated by: Andy

Missed MERRY and CHRISTMAS by the Rs...not enough of them. This is the first time I parked on frequency and let all of you chase ME during SKS! :-) I had milk and cookies in the shack, and sat on 40m the entire time. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Have a lot of fun, and 73!

K4ZGB Operated by: Tom

I was operating from my new, Man Cave/Ham Shack. Lots of fun. Merry Christmas to all and to all 73...Bill

N8KR Operated by: Ken

Lot's of fun to work from a different qth-FL on Christmas, wow! 15 foot high dipoles and no cw filter made it a real challenge. Merry Christmas!

K1LEE Operated by: Lee

Fine SKS, as usual. All contacts on 40 and 80. No M's!! There go the bonus points.
Still a lot of fun and fb ops (mostly). Vy 73 to all for the New Year, Lee K1LEE

NA4O Operated by: Mark

I hope it was the band and not my ears, but had trouble pulling many signals out of the noise-- well, there is a storm forecast for later tonight.

NW2K Operated by: Dean

Nice conditions here on 20 (5 QSOs), 40 (32 QSOs), and 80 (25 QSOs). Great to hear KL8DX, UU1CC, EA1FA, S51M and all of the new numbers in the SKS. One Merry and two Christmas. Thank you and Merry Christmas to all! 100W, fan dipole 80-40-20 at 40 feet.

K5BZH Operated by: Jim

I sincerely hope each of you had a Merry Christmas (anybody get a telegraph key for a stocking stuffer?) and I wish the best to all for 2013.

Made 13 contacts for this sprint, the last SKCC event of the year. Three of my QSOs were on 80 meters and two were states I need confirmed towards an 80 meter CW WAS, guess that could be viewed as another gift. I didn't even come close to any of the bonus points, but that's OK, maybe I will luck out in another event later.

Hope to work some of you folks in the upcoming Straight Key Night.

NC5G Operated by: George

First sprint since getting my number. Lots of fun.

K1NV Operated by: Jon

Lots of E's, I's, and T's, but other needed letters were in short supply. I managed one "Christmas," though.

The old 40M novice band was alive with signals and I made twelve QSO's there after spending about 15 minutes on an antenna repair and another 15 minutes on 20M before it closed. PS7HD was the only DX station worked in this sprint. Nothing was heard on 80M.

Maine was well-represented by N1FPG and K1EDG. I found AB8KT, Ken, on 7.116 MHz. Like me, he moved out of Nevada recently but went east to Ohio while I went north to CA. I hope the remaining Nevada guys put the silver State back on the SKCC map in the future, otherwise, I may have to move back there.

I heard WA6O-F(???)on 40M but just couldn't pull you through. Sorry, maybe next Sprint.

The Yaesu FT-450 held up well after having the PA transistors and a relay replaced recently. It's not a great CW rig, but does the job under most conditions.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the gang and I hope to hear some 4-digit SKCC numbers in the coming year.

W7GVE Operated by: Ed

20 was good for 45 mins then died--- It was great to see the folks at the end of the year.... As usual very enjoyable 2 hours.. 73 ED/W7GVE

W3NP Operated by: Dave

Late Christmas dinner here so I only had about 30 minutes to operate. 40 was very long and signals were weak. 80 was pretty good.
Rig was my Ten Tec Eagle @ 5 watts to the CF zepp at 45'. Key was the 1915 Vibroplex bug.
A Merry Christmas to all from West Virginia. 73, Dave

WAØBGV Operated by: Slim

Nice SKS here but lots of noise on 80 meter. Happy New Year to all and especially all my MO Outlaw pals.

AB7DG Operated by: Tony

Once again, I had a great time taking part in the SKS. See you all next time! 73 de Tony

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! The family Christmas dinner and opening of presents went long so I didn’t get on until 0112Z. I managed to work Jack, KKØI and Bill, NØUMP before being called out to help my son whose car wouldn’t start. Managed to get him started and on his way and got back to the shack at 0150Z and was able to work Ted operating the Adrian Amateur Radio Club station, W8TQE. My thanks (or apologies) to Jack, Bill and Ted for being the first contacts on the “new” 65 year old “bug” that I got for my birthday last Saturday. The conditions were poor here with the big storms moving across the state Southeast of me but it was a lot of fun to get a few contacts in spite of the weather and the Christmas activities. Look forward to K3Y in January.

73,
Jim

My 65 year old "bug" that I got for my 65th birthday on December 22.

WA1VIL Operated by: Greg

Only managed to sneak in 4 contacts between dinner and dessert-maybe next time something like this happens we could figure a way extend the time to allow for more folks to participate as time allows. Fun anyway it happens! Thanks for all the contacts this year and to the people who make it all go! Happy Holidays to all!

N3PDT Operated by: Doug

Merry Christmas to all. Fun event. We had a relaxed holiday here, and that carried over into a pretty laid back approach to the sprint tonight. 40m started very slow here, and was quite noisy. Missed a number of calls I just couldn't pull out. I think I'm getting a lot of LED Christmas light noise here. Moved to 80m for last 40 minutes, or so, and called, to no avail, on 160m for last 7 minutes. Only worked 4 fellow Missouri Outlaws, WA0GBV Slim, KI0I Mark, K2HT Dick, and N0UYN Dennis, who was hiding out in TN tonight. I had ONE "M" out of 21 contacts, so I spelled Christmas once.

N5XE Operated by: Carl

First of all, I forgot about the SKS, until I heard a station calling on 40-M at 0100 UTC. That eliminated the first hour... Then at 0117 UTC, had company drop in, which eliminated most of the second hour. End result - 3 QSO's! Had fun anyway. Thanks to all and a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2013!

73 from cold Oklahoma - de N5XE

Merry Christmas to All

KF7DS Operated by: Don

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. Had slightly more than an hour between holiday events, enough time to break in my new K3 - still learning but love it, especially with an RX antenna added into the mix.

Conditions on 20m started out good, but faded fast and 40m seemed to open quickly thereafter. NY, AL, and MD were strong into the PNW. Other than CA and AZ, it seemed to be all long skip from here with the vertical.

Best Don KF7DS

KKØI Operated by: Jack

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas and Santa brought you what you wanted. Many thanks to the contacts who took the time to spend a part of their holiday on the radio. Hope to hear you all during the K3Y event. Best wishes to all in the new year! 73, jack

Received my KX3 early for Christmas and having allot of fun. Thanks to Ed W7GVE, always seems to pull me out even at 1 watt, also Lee and Slim. Bands were not very good on this end, lots of noise and was a struggle at 1 watt but had to try, Running the KX3 with a Ni-Cad battery and a low fan dipole. Happy New Year to all and have fun!!!!

Lots of QRN due to southern storms. Great time catching good friend N8KR on two bands while he is in Florida! Used both the bug and the straight key.

FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, TH6DXX, dipole. Missed the first 15 minutes due to a family dinner at our daughter's house. 20M was surprisingly good at the first with strong signals from the west and also MI and IN. Heard, but did not work, a very strong KL8DX. Pleased by QSOs with PS7HD on 20 and 40. 13 QSOs on 20 and 36 QSOs on 40. QRN was pretty bad on 40 due to an approaching storm front that passed us during the night. Thanks for all QSOs and Happy New Year to all. 73, John, K4BAI.

Enjoyed the sprint. My first SKCC sprint at QRP-5W. I put my brand new FT-450D to good use. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed going after those tough contacts, even waiting out a mini-pileup!

Bad QRN on 40 meters and nothing on 20. Called CQ on Novice 40 and got Jon , K1NV which was surprising!!! Also worked my good buddy Jack , KK0I up there also. He was 10 over in NNY !! Also got Bill , N0UMP on of the Bandits with a good signal. Used my K1 , ZeroFive 40 meter vertical and the Vibroplex 100th Anniversary Bug ..... A very Happy New Year to all in the SKCC and have fun with the upcoming K3Y event !!!!

A special SKS for me, as I just unpacked and set up my new Kenwood TS-590 in time for the sprint. My first radio wave transmissions and logged QSOs with this new Rig were during the December SKS. Hey, hand crafted CW sounds even better with a little digital filtering :) Thanks to all for the contacts, and especially to John, KA9DVX SKCC#7439 for the inaugural QSO.

Another great year for SKCC. I brought along a hamfest door prize G5RV, but couldn't fit it into the lot. So I cut it down to a 40m dipole. I worked Outlaws Bill N0UMP, ringleader Slim WA0BGV, Dick K2HT, Doug N3PDT, Mark KI0I, and Jayhawk henchman Jim AD0AB. Thanks to them and the other stations who could hear my signal. I didn't get a "MERRY" or a "CHRISTMAS", but had a Merry Christmas. Happy New Year and 73.

Family and friends gathered here for Christmas dinner, a great day with everyone to be topped off with some CW fun with SKCC friends. With 30 minutes left there were some great signals from the east on 40M. Looking forward to the K3Y event. The new PFX award sounds interesting also....73 & Happy New Year to all
