Soapbox Comments

From AA6AC, BOB

CONDITIONS so-so herd several only able to work few...20 meters..VE7CNF..K4BAI..K3WW..AD5A.. MY 20 meters went to sleep at 0100Z.. AA6AC BOB CA 6276S..

From AC0PR, Mike

It's been a year or two, but every time I come back I really enjoy it! Thanks for the qso's!

From AD5A, Mike

Always and enjoyable couple of hours. Thanks for the QSO's.

From AK3X, Peter

40 and 80 were in great shape. At the time, I had no idea there was a bonus station, but my first contact was with K8CGE! Took a break to work in the 40 meter QRP fox hunt (got both of them). There were other interruptions as usual but still lots of fun. Rig was a new-to-me TT Argonaut V running 5 watts. 72 to all. Peter

From AK4NY, Tom

Short night - played for about 30 minutes - hope to catch you on the air 73 de Tom

From AL7JK, John

Hello to all. Enjoyed the sprint. Few signals popped out of the noise level hr in Eagle River. Thanks to K0RO and N7YY for the Qso's. Used a FT450d @ 100W to a 20 mtr vertical on the roof, keyed with a 1965 Vibroplex Champion. Looking forward to spending more time at ham radio, retired last week. Decided to upload a springtime view of Eagle River valley. 73 to all !

From K0FG, Fred

Kinda noisy here with the rain. Seemed like a lot of stations on tho. We need to use more spectrum, seems like we are crowded into 10 kHz.

From K0KEX, Rick

Enjoyed a few contacts..great comments 73 Rick

From K0RO, Ralph Bolt

Twenty meters was lively from Mississippi until about 0050 when things went very quiet. I signed off at about 0110 to attend to the family.

From K1LEE, Lee

Condx pretty good in CT. 40 and 80 wall to wall QSOs. 20 up and down. Seems like OH has the most hams in the US! All good ops, too. Missed some of the regulars this time. Watching basketball, maybe? Catch you next time, Lee K1LEE

From K2PI, HARV

Really just dabbling this SKS. QRP and a n/s antenna only. Rig: QRP-Labs QCX 40M @4W Power supply: Bioenno 3AH Battery Antenna: ZS6BKW dipole N/S at 60Ft.

This was a fun sprint. 80 and 40 were both in good shape. worked a lot of new members and a lot of good fists. Rig was a Ten Tec Eagle running 90 watts to a g5rv. keys were a Vibroplex Bog and a Navy CLT-26012.

From K3RLL, Don

K3 @ 50w to flat black HoA vertical that only comes out after dark: SKCC is getting to be more fun with each activity! Nice strong signals on both 20m and 40m tonight. Was very happy with my 20 contacts in less than an hour. Thanks to all those skills ops who made this evening's event such a delight. 73 ... Don

From K3SEN, DALE

Sure had fun. Sorry to those I couldn't pull out of the QRN. Thanks for the Qs. 73 Dale, K3SEN

From K3WW, Chas

Conditions seemed really good; however when I went to 80 for the last half hour only got two answers, so went back to 40 until the last 7 minutes. 80 was better for a few minutes then died just short of 80 total QSOs. Lots of fun.

From K4JPN, Steve

Good to see 20M open to the West Coast early in the Sprint, then 80M and 40M gave a lot of fun. 73, Steve K4JPN

From K5BZH, Jim

TenTec Argonaut V at 15 watts into dipole at 13 feet. Heard a lot of activity, had to wait a few turns in a couple of cases. Light rain falling in Amarillo.

From K5TSK, Jim

Amended log results. Checked QRZ and my QRP/2 qso to a non-member turned out to be a Bencher BY-2 paddle. Should have asked during the QSO. Fun, fun, fun anyway. 73, Jim

From K5ZOL, Bob

Managed one QSO before the thunderstorm rolled in and I had to disconnect antennas.

From K6III, Jerry

Have not worked a SKS in awhile. Spent 1st hour surfing 20m (18 Q's) then 2nd hour 40m (10 Q's). Worked 1 non-member. Did some CQin on both bands. Found ZL2BLQ CQin on 20m but not playing SKS - he gave me the points anyway (TNX Stan). Work WL7WH 3 minutes before SKS started but could not find him during the event! 100w, 20m-2el beam, 40m-vertical.

From K8CGE, Loren

Started out good on a noisy 40M band, then got ran off by RTTY guys, tried 7.114 wid no qso's then only spot we could find open was at 7.039 wid no results. Started S&P. My 80M antenna is down for repairs so stayed on a VRY crowded 40. CW is alive es well. 73

From K8RJW, Bob

I had to be out of my mind...run QRP, using a Cootie Key for the first time live on the air, and in a contest! Oh Well, I had a good time and have to thank those on the other end of my key!!! Back to practicing the Cootie. '72, Bob

From K8TEZ, Larry

Worked several stations on both 80 & 40 (thank you) both bands in good shape here on Lake Erie tonight. Also BIG signals coming out of MI from NU8Z. Great sigs on 40 from TX-FL-MS-LA too. the picture is the Veterans Memorial Mural in Amherst, Oh .

From KA0OBI, Steve

Got on the air during the last few minutes but still had fun.

From KA1FSX, Karl

By far my best sprint was a blast here in NE PA

From KA2KGP, Tom

1st time 20m. was open here for a sprint for a long while! 40 & 80 were good in WNY. Rig: IC-7000 at 100w. into G5RV up 25 ft. w/ old CMI-26003 Key.

From KA3OCS, Bob

operated portable from Summerville sc using my elecraft k1 and buddiepole as a horizontal dipole

From KB2PLW, Randy

I was only able to get on for a whopping fifteen minutes but better late than never :)

From KD2AEF, Joe

Great SKS. Conditions great on 20 and 40. Until the next one, 73's Joe

From KD2E, Dave

Straight key and 55 degree shack got the best of me!

From KD9EBS, Sergey

Thank you all for good time. Alinco DX8SR8. Prl. Dipole at 25' in the attic. The key is J38. 73!

From KF6C, Brian

Using Cootie for first time in SKCC event, second time ever on the air.

From KK4WX, Russ

Once again it was good to hear everyone I worked. Stan was coming in good from New Zealand. Also good to hear Rafael in Cuba - C08RRM on 40 meters! Look for him around 7.062. Hope to see you folks in the next SKS! 73 until then....

From KM4FO, Dwight

It was fun again, 40 seemed real good tonight.

From KU5M, JOE

Second month, S & P strategy, 2X last month's QSOs. Fun Time. CU in April.

From N0UMP, Bill

Had a good time. Had some QRN and QSB. Operated mostly on 40 meters. Running IC-746 and 80 meter horizontal delta loop. dit dit

From N1AIA, SCOTT

Been a while. Nice to hear so much activity.

From N4ARY, Aaron

Enjoyed my first sprint! Thanks for a great program that encourages rookies like me.

From N4OW, AL

40 was great from start to finish. Many strong sigs. YU4DX sounded like a local! Yet another SKS without FL in my Log :) The MFJ1886 RX Mag-Loop as worked magic with my horrific grow house RFI, I cannot praise it enough. See my QRZ pix of the bandscope. 73 de AL N4ow 11375s

From N6MRS, Mike Shreve

Great fun and worked some excellent ops. "Thank you" and 73 to each contact.

From N7EDK, Ed

The 40m band was surprisingly good for a change tonight ! Didn't get much time in, but it was fun as always. Used my KX3 at 80w into my EFHW vertical wire up 32' and my Vibroplex Blue Racer. Look for everyone next month in the WES ! 73 de Bradenton, FL

From N7TMS, Todd

Lots of good, strong signals. I sure enjoy these sprints. Used another homebrew key this month. I don't like it as much as the paperclip from last month. This PC blank is much stiffer and the nail slides with use. I'll have to find something different (better) for next month. 73, Todd N7TMS

From N8KR, Ken

Nice to have Manu - YU4DX call on 80m!

From N8KZH, Ron

Lots of BIG signals on 40,everybody seemed to be 599. Tnx fer the QSOs. Happy Easter to all.

From N9EEN, Dave

Bands were great tonight. 40m was the money band. Thanks to all that answered me. 73 Dave

From NF5U, Jerry

Storms moving thru tonight, lots of static crashes. All in all a great time. Stayed on 40m all nite. Used the 590SG at 100w with a Vibroplex standard bug. Thanks for all the contacts and look foward to a great April coming up, even though it is tax time.

From NU4M, Greg

My first sks contact was at 0034z. I attempted to contact theTJ2TT expedition. I was successful. I actually made 6 Qsos. I answered a qso from K1GDH. He didnt give any me a nr so we had a 15 min qso with him. I looked him up after sprint he is an older member. Thank you Stan for my only DX.

From NU8Z, Mark

Ugh....battled man-made noise on 80 and lost any station calling below S-8 for the first hour! 20 faded quickly as darkness fell but 40 was its super self. Ops were NU8Z,K8KIC. KD8VSQ, KE8CEW, K8AQM and W8KBW. Still was great fun and we will find that noise source!

From NZ0T, Bill

Noisy here but ended up pretty good. Just stayed on 40 and ran a freq. Elecraft K3 100 watts. 160M horizontal loop fed with ladder line. Bencher RJ-2 key.

From VA3NU, Larry

Stayed on 40 for the Sprint. Lots of signals with QSB kicking in near the end. FT 840 to 40 meter dipole at 25'

From VE1AHX, Ben

Thanks to all for the QSOs. All S&P, Mostly 40, some 80. A bit late in the evening for 20 here (Atlantic Time Zone). Listened on 160 but nothing heard there.

From VE3AHY, Krys

Thanks to All, 73 Krys

From VE5CUL, Brian

This was another fun reason to put supper off until later. 40 M was hot - Thanks for BC and Ontario too. Until next time - 73 - Brian

From VE7CNF, Toby

Great fun as usual. I'm still learning the bug, and it think it'll take a while to get comfortable with it. Thanks for the practice. The rig was an IC-7410 at 100W, with inverted-L antenna 50ft high.

From VE7HI, Ken

Fun sprint as usual. 20 held up for a little bit but I lost a couple of QSO's in QSB-sorry fellows.. Thanks for the sprint CUL!

From VE9VIC, Rino

Thank to all for the good rx, first time on the air with my HB1B.5watts. 73.

From W0YBS, Bob

Had a great time once again. Thanks to everyone for the qso's. I stayed on 40 and never moved. Band conditions werent too bad. See you again in the next one. 73-Bob-W0YBS

From W3NP, Dave

Got home late and missed the first 45 minutes. I will agree that 40 meters was in fine shape (for a change). 21 Q's on 40 and the last 7 on 80. K8CGE was my 2nd contact. Rig: K3. - Ant: 160m horizontal loop. - Key: GHD-501A cootie. 73 de West Virginia

From W6UG, Phil

Using my new KX2 (brought from CA) at 5 watts to see if I can QRP the April sprint from my 2nd QTH here in Beaufort, SC. Got in late, so not many QSOs but looks like the plan is to QRP the April event. So look out...here I come! Phil W6UG/4

From W8ES, Jay

Ran the VizKey Cootie tonight. Hope my fist wasn't that bad... Thanks SKCC! 73 from WV.

From W8NQI, Van

Fun as usual!!

From WA2JSG, Curt

I don't know what it is about this old IC-7000. Although I have two newer radios, I keep coming back to it. A pleasure to operate and look at. Anyway, I pumped 75 watts from my Kent Str key to a 30-yr old (hi hi) Butternut up on the roof. I did have the pleasure to find new member Danny ZF1DM in the Cayman Islands who reported 82F degrees (hi hi). Great band condx on 20m, 40m, and 80m. See y'all next month!

From WA4FQN, Jerry

Listened briefly at start on 20M, only very weak signals, so moved to 40 where I stayed, working S&P. Lots of signals on 40, loud earlier and getting weaker and fewer as the 2nd hour progressed; too bad I couldn't work the other S&P'ers, heard lots calling the stations I called. Got five new numbers out of my 15 Q's. Did not find K8CGE. Thanks to all for the QSO's and to all in SKCC who make the Sprints possible. Kenwood TS590SG at 100 watts to my 68ft long horizontal loop in the attic up at 25ft.

From WA5AFD, GERALD

Lots of good signals on 40 meters. Thanks to all the qsos and to all that make the sprints possible. 73 from Mustang, OK

From WB4BIN, Dave

Fun sprint. My neighborhood lost power, so I had to run my K2 at 5 watts, on my emergency backup battery. No problem working without a computer. No problem logging by hand. The problem was I didn't have enough candles to light the shack. It's hard to write, when you can't see the paper. Hi, hi!

From WB8ENE, Art

40 meters seemed to be in pretty good condition this evening. I spent about a half hour in this sprint. Rig is an Elecraft K3, antenna is a dipole at 15', and key is a Begali Blade. Thanks for the contacts. 73, Art

From WB8YXF, Fr Richard

Wow, thanks, worked 80 most of the time.... a few on 20 and 40. Thanks for all who put up with me, sometimes a sloppy fist..... 73

From WB9CAC, Bill

Great fun..could only be on for 45 minutes. lot of new stations on, it, seemed

From WL7WH, Bob

Prop for about 30 minutes and then nothing...ws fun as usual....

From WV8DH, Dave

Another fun sprint. Not a good score but at least a score. Band, 40 meters was in good shape. I was just slow to S&P. Running IC-7300 and ZS6BKW @32 ft. Best 72/73 from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. Dave

From WZ2N, Greg

All the bands were unusually great tonight. Worked 80m then a few on 20m and finished on 40. may have set a personal best if I had managed to get teh company to leave an hour earlier. great fun as always and I look forward to next time. 73 DE WZ2N

From YU4DX, Manu
