Miles divided by power equals points...

Postby G0KZZ » Fri Mar 07, 2008 12:12 am

Maybe a dopey idea (I have lots of those!), but how about working the greatest distances possible, but with the least power (OK, so it's QRP SK!).

Apart from the number of stations worked points could also be earned based on distance divided by power. So lets say you work a station 700 miles away with 20 watts, that would give you 700/20=35 points.

By the same token, if you worked a station say three miles away using 50mW that would give you 3/0.05=60 points.

Like I said, a dopey idea....

what if...for some reason you don't know where the other station is actually located.
Like W8XXX/M somewhere on Interstate 75 or W8XXX/8 camping somewhere in the Huron National forest ??? Do they have to give out the GPS reported latitude and longitude?
As for fixed stations, My lat and long shown in QRZ.com is actually about 5 miles away from the real K8JD ! :(

Not dopey at all. If the logistics can be worked out, very interesting.

100% cw QRP here.

Good luck.

Hi John,
You can fix that issue on QRZ now.Mine was off about a mile or so.Had me in the middle of a field. After I made the adjustment,it now puts me right in front of my house.
Just an FYI!
