Antenna Guru Needed - Trapped 40m Long Wire?

Postby KD9ILK » Fri Aug 04, 2017 3:42 pm

Is there such a thing, can I make one? I have limited space and limited height here. A trapped monoband 40m dipole might work, but nobody makes one and beyond my physical capabilities.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would advise against building any trap dipole. IF you have limited space, do yourself a favor and put up a 50 to 53 foot end fed wire. You can bend it any way you want to make it fit (ideally 90 degrees or less for the bends.) With a 9:1 UNUN transformer at the feed point, this will give you LOW SWR on ALL bands from 40m thru 10m at minimal cost and you will be surprised at the great performance. For FULL details take a look at the QRZ.com page for WB4DBO. Bill is an expert, and I got my ideas from his site and the others he links to. 73 - Bry AF4K. SKCC #1879S
