new shack

Postby k8jd » Thu Aug 04, 2011 4:26 pm

I just moved all my stuff from a corner of the downstairs "family room" to my own room.
I converted a spare room since my three sons all have moved out years ago and we converted one old bedroom into a library, another into a guest room and the last one was filled with unused junk !
A new floor, painting and it became a hamshack.
I had several coax runs to pull thru walls and over the celing of our downstairs bathroom. A few of them needed extentions made up and connected to get to the new room.
Hoping to get my VHF and UHF antennas back up and new coax into the new room next.

I have added a ZMFJ-974HB balanced line tuner to my gear.
Breaking a nearly 50 year tradition of using coax to feed my resonant antennas, now added a 90 ft dipole fed by the new tuner using 300 ohm TV twinlead.
It happens to be roughly the length of a double Zepp on 30M and also an extended double ZSepp on 20M. It also seems to be good on 40 M as a 5/8 wave dipole.
