Sprint help

Postby Kd5txx » Wed Dec 18, 2013 2:42 am

I have heard of them but have no idea what a sprint is. I am brand new, never even made a contact yet, so I want to get this down before I try to get involved. What info do I send? Can you let me know what a typical sprint contact sounds like?

Here's a link to the SKCC home page. On the left side under "Activities" you will find links to all the sprints.

If you hear someone calling "CQ SKS" (Straight Key Sprint, the monthly, 2 hour long, weekday sprint) , or "CQ WES" (the weekend 24 hour event) you answer them lwith your callsign. Then they will reply with your RST report, the state they are located in and the name of the op and finally their SKCC number. Then you return the same information for yourself to them.
So the exchange is TYPICALLY LIKE THIS; "w8XXX DE K8JD RST 599 MI JOHN 1395T K"
READ THE DETAILS FOR EACH MONTH'S EVENTS, Always on the SKCC webpage. THERE ARE SOMETIMES monthly THEMES AND OTHER TIDBITS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO SEND. You should read all the various sections of the SKCCgroup.com page to find about the other activities and events our club runs.
Have fun, it is not like most "CONTESTS" just a friendly event to log more member's numbers toward our various awards.
