Sprint

Postby N6NQZ » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:34 am

Pardon the duh-ness but I have never participated in a sprint .... yet! What is the meaning of "not using cut numbers" etc.

For example, if your SKCC number is 5907, then you shouldn't send 5NT7. It's ok to use cut numbers in the RST for 5NN, just not your SKCC numbers.
Make sense?

N6NQZ -

When sending your SKCC number in the sprint, send the numbers in full Morse without using shortcuts - often referred to as "cut numbers".

Common cut numbers are:
"A" for 1
"U" for 2
"E" for 5
"N" for 6
"D" for 7
"N" for 9

This was my first Sprint. When do we get to submit our scores? When I click on Submit Your Score, the page says that there are no events with open submission times righth now. Am I looking in the wrong spot?

I don't wanna learn any 'cut' numbers. I'm confused enough as it is! ;-)

When I was a USCG Radioman we guarded 500kcs (600 meters) as a calling/answering freq to QSY off 500 with commercial oprs to copy wx, (OBS), medicals (Medico), and, heaven forbid, an SOS. The Japanese used "r" for a period and a "t" for a zero. Catch you unawares the first time you heard it; but after that it was sorta neat!
