Mid loaded inverted L for 160 - all bands with a tuner

160 meter inverted L for smaller size lots. Every winter, I plan to try to get on 160 meters and never get it done. This year I was determined to do it. I was considering a 1/4 wave inverted L, something like this design by WH2T: http://www.bloomington.in.us/~wh2t/invertedl.html A tip from Pete W5PE...

Lots of members have been getting Annie bugs and I have never heard of any problems other than paint. I could see what they were talking about on my Annie, but it was so minor that if they hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed it. The price was right and I hate to see them go back up, but the...

Hi Fred, nice wallpaper for the award. I like what I see and agree that it shouldn't be too easy, but not unobtainable either.
If there is anything I can do to help with the award on the skccgroup.com website, let me know.

Hi Steve, Vibroplex told me that my Annie had quality control issues with overspray on the paint, but it looks pretty darn good to me. I really like the Annie and glad I got one. I use one large weight and keep it set about 20 wpm. For slower bug work, I use my GHD bug set about 12 wpm. My Annie was...

I highly recommend blue magic. It works on all metals and even plastic and corian. I got mine at Walmart, but they have a website with a locator. http://people.consolidated.net/cargochemical/prod_metalpolish.html This stuff cleans and polishes. You put it on and it turns black with all the crud and ...

After I had the paint stripped off as shown in a photo at the start of this thread, I used a dremel tool with a soft wire wheel. That removed the discoloration caused by the casting process. Then I used the dremel tool with several polishing wheels and cones using some metal polish from Walmart call...

It is starting to shine now. I have many hours in the polishing. I'm not sure how much farther I will take it. I plan to mount it on the piece of copper the black FP is on next to it. Will do something else with that key? http://www.skccgroup.com/sprint/wes/results/nt9k/navyfp_stripped.jpg

Yes, you can anodize in those colors. There are home kits for anodizing and plating that are reasonable. I think there may be a problem anodizing it as the parts are so gray. I sanded on a part in a place you can't see and it will shine up, but I think the whole think would have to be shined up befo...

I stripped it with a spray type paint remover I got from Walmart. It took 3 applications to get all the paint off. The base stripped with one application. The stuff works in about 10 minutes. The brand name is Klean Strip. I still haven't decided how to finish it. There are so many possibilites. It ...

I use some spray type paint stripper. It worked well and the key is now naked. I'll post some photos when I can. After the stripping the cast aluminum is very dark gray in color. Maybe from the casting. I'll have to take it down some more to get to the shine. If the bare metal won't polish up as bri...

Frankenstein a Navy Flameproof

Has anyone completely disassembled a Navy Flameproof? I have one of my old one's apart except for one last pin holding the axle in. The only way to punch it is from the top using the screw hole between the 2 adjustment screws. Problem is those pins are tough to punch out. They have 3 teeth on each p...

Annual KJ7BS Junkbox Warz Weekend Sprintathon

If Mark has no objections, I want to turn this into an annual event. From here on, the event shall be called The Annual KJ7BS Junkbox Warz Weekend Sprintathon . I'm looking at this for February 2008. This might help keep the momentum from K2A rolling. Last year, we all got the post K1Y blues with no...

1. The first event was a great success. Great fun maybe, but far from a success when people are still waiting. 2. One person cannot do all the work as Kev K4VD did. Amen! 3. We need to find or develop a better calendar for scheduling. I can write a calandar script for skccgroup.com 4. Each coordinat...

Idea moved from yahoo. I also agree a 24 hour event is not really a "sprint" per se so maybe we could call it a "sprint-a-thon". There was mention of having different themes or variations in the event. How about one where you get extra credit for 10 & 15 meter qso's? Like 10X...

Hi Mark, I like that concept. I looked at all the past results and it appears that the even number team could possibly have the edge. Maybe we figure a way to split the teams up differently? Maybe the first letter of your first name, then split the alphabet in half. Lots of Bill's, Bob's and Don's f...

Off topic of Tribune but a DX award sounds fun.
I've worked a few of our EU skcc DX using Andy's
sked page in the past week. Maybe another modular
type award for dx to allow it to grow?
