Hi Walt, that sounds like a great idea. October it is! That will give us time to work out the details. I don't have a machine shop or alot of fancy tools, but I think I can come up with something.

I like the idea! Let's work out the details and book this for the May sprint. I don't use my SKCC key very much. This might be just the ticket to build my skills with it. I like the key to key qso bonus. I guess a SKCC award for WAK(eys) would be impossible judging by the imcomplete key owner list. ...

Thanks Dick, for the Weekend sprint ideas. I hadn't even thought about a name for it yet but your right, it shouldn't be a "junkbox" sprint. If you don't mind, I'd like to copy this message to the forum. As for the slot window. I'm not happy with the way it has been working out. Don NN8B, ...

Sorry for the delay in posting, I'm going through some medical issues and haven't been able to write. I've been thinking about the slot window and the ideas that were suggested so far. Since we only have 2 sprints in the books, maybe it's too early to make changes. I'm not opposed to making changes ...

Sure, I would like to keep an open mind and consider all the options. The slot window hasn't accomplished what I thought it would. I had hoped that it would spread out the action from Saturday night into Sunday but it seems like most of the scores submitted come from Saturday night. Your idea might ...

Thanks Drew, it would be great to keep running them as side comparisons. I think we could all learn something from those numbers. I want to work on the submission process as soon as I can find some time. Right now, it emails me a copy of the entry and appends it to a flat file. I figure that I can c...

Thank you all for working on the formulas. Please continue to try and find a way to level the QRP playing field. To keep things rolling, I felt I had to do something. So, for now I'd like to have 2 catagories. We can give it a try and continue working on a better way. I posted more on yahoo. I'd lik...

How much bonus should be awarded for building the key? Consider these keys may be rough and tough to use. I think it should be a decent number if nothing else to promote complying with the theme. 100 points?

This is going to be fun!

This event could spin off many variations. We could have one with a month to build the key using any tools or materials you can think of. Might see some real craftsmanship and innovations. I'll start trying to work this into the next weekend sprint. I don't think the rules page would need any change...

Don, we could add the best junkbox fist. Do you think having the vote mentioned in the soapbox comments would be the way to go? I could add another field to the entry form, then add another column to the results page. Doing it that way, everyone knows who voted for who's junkbox fist. Tnx for the im...

Lets work out some details. <Logs and a picture of the junkbox key will be required for valid event submissions.> 1)Are logs really needed? 2)Wonder if Webmaster Sam would host the entry photos? (my server space is limited) 3)How can we include those who don't build the key? Consider the results pag...

I'd like to propose a rule change based on members comments via email to me in their sprint entries. I want to add a final score multiplier for those who choose to operate QRP. What should the multiplier be? 2x 3x or more? If we could decide on a value, and give it a try. If it doesn't make it compe...

The entry form is online and working, thanks to Kevin K4VD. I used parts of his submission form since everyone is used to the layout. I did rewrite it in perl and added some logging and spam protection. Feel free to test the form, I'll delete the tests before the event. http://www.nt9k.com/skcc.htm ...

Sam marked up the rules in html and posted them on the main SKCC website. I've asked Frank to add the event to the calandar. As for St. Patrick's Day. The only thing I can think of is maybe collecting suffixes that spell out st patricks day. Maybe for those who do, they claim a bonus. Any better ide...

I have it saved Kev, you can delete the code if you want. Thanks, I might use it just to try php for a change. Does your form get alot of spam abuse? Since I have the memberlist stored on my server, I considered doing a call and skcc number lookup for verification against the bots. Maybe we could us...

Thanks Kev, I'll install Corel Draw X3 and give it a try. I'd really like to find out more about your php form processor script for submissions. Was that a free script you found? I looked at your source html for the form this morning. I normally use Paint shop pro or Photoshop but since my hard driv...

The calandar script that I wrote for K1Y isn't perfect but it was better than yahoo's. I think I could rewrite it if I knew the criteria. I have it written now to allow 10 different users to add entries to my calandar. It keeps the data separate for each user. This scheme was intented for use only b...

I renamed this post and edited out my extranious comments.

There are alot of good event ideas going around and many could be incorporated into the weekend sprint themes. Some recent ones are:

LTA SKCC key number chase.
QRP sprint.
Age sprint.
Bug sprint.
New member sprint.
