I just heard from my old High School Buddy Who is now VY1JA.
He is commuting from Whitehorse, YT to Alert, Nunavut twice a year, working at the Govt post there. He wants to take one of his rigs up there when he goes back for the next shift (7 months on and 3 months off).
More to follow....

Now the membership is up to well over 5K, you would think the CW bands would be crawling with SKCC numbers but that is not so !
What's the Deal ? Get a SKCC number and then hide ???

I'm still needing about 15 more SKCC member numbers to get my 100 award on the Top Band, Hoping to finish the count soon but the summer storm static is starting up . Maybe next fall will be the time for me.
Anyone with a good 160 M antenna please look for me on the K3UK Sked Site some evening.

Do they have to give out the GPS reported latitude and longitude? As for fixed stations, My lat and long shown i...

160M freq

You must have a transmitter on 910 kHz nearby. In my area there was a station relocated and granted a power increase from 5 to 50 kw. They built a transmitting facility about 25 miles south of me and have a 6 tower array aimed nearly dead on my direction. I can just detect their 2nd harmonic in the ...

band a week

There would be weeks when I would be stuck on a band and never make one qso, eg 10, 12, 15 and even 17.
This is due to Propigation and lack of antenna performance on 12 and 17 for me.
Mabe better idea for me in a few years.

160 M suggested freq

I have been attempting some SKCC operation on 160 M lately but it seems like 1820 is at the edge of the DX "window". When I am calling CQ SKCC I sometimes hear anolther station right on my freq and he just sends his call several times. If I reply and say QRZ? (because he doesn't give my ca...

SKCC QSO party.

]I like the idea of another event. It seemed like after the January K1Y ended someone pulled the plug and SKCC activity dropped to near nil!!
The proposed activity should spark more operators to get on the air.[/b]

Tribune award

I brought up a new level of awards on the forum some time ago when there were only a few dozen Centurions. Good to see it coming into light again!
Have heard some using the # followed by a C lately, in non SKC QSOs and now I will start doing this also.
Happy hunting.
