Operated QRP on Sunday afternoon on 20 and 40 meters. I had lots of fun playing with my little rig. Thanks to all that participated.
Calif QSO party on line...MY TRAP VERT @ 80W and condx just not herd...herd K3WW 519.. W5TMT 529.. Logged W7GB WA 559.. S&P but little joy.. AA6AC Bob CA 6276S.
Missed last few WES events so at least got SWL on 20M using my IC-R75 Rcvr and my ALA 330S Active Loop antenna which is up in the garage and shares a rotor with my 2M Elk 440L5 beam. Hope to transmit by next month! Band was quite good.
Another fun WES with limited time for it. I totally missed Dave, KD9VT, in ND as I was still recovering from a week-long road trip to New England. This photo is from the White Mountains in New Hampshire - taken during our road trip.
That was a lot of fun. The bands were like roller coasters. Thanks for the QSOs and I hope to see everyone on the next WES, Jim
Great to meet new folks and work "old" friends. 73 de Peter, AE1T
Just played on Sunday. Bands not too bad. QSOs on 20m, 40m, and 80m. 4 out of 9 QSOs from PA and 1 from FRA (thanks, Bert!). Vibroplex Vibrokeyer on 20 and 40 and Kent Single Paddle on 80 (both rigged as cooties). All QRP all the time!
Great fun even with limited time. Didn't know abt the bonus until after the event. Thanks to Bert, F6HKA for hearing my 3 watt sigs on three bands. 73 ro all.
Made a few new contacts and had some fun!
Another exciting weekend at the radios ! Enjoyed every qso, hearing the bands alive with cw. Propagation brought some unique surprises, I'm thankful for this event and the folks at SKCC that make this possible. Instead of the usual radio/key photo, here's a grizzly crossing the road during rush hour traffic hr in Eagle River. 73 to all !
after a long time nice condx during the WES.
Thank you Duc F5UQE for the triple
See you all next wes :-)
Only three hours free time for WES but always enjoying this event.
F6HKA : 2 bands, K3WW : 3 bands, F6EJN : 4 bands.
many thanks and 73 to all !
Thank you very much for all these qso and soon on the wes November. 73
Sorry I forgot the sprint bonus
Had fun and used a big pump key that was made in the same year as I was - 1946. Didn't manage much operating on Sunday due to laying a Hash trail in the woods, and the WX was beautiful too.
73 John / G0RDO / SKCC 2133S
My third WES and my first theme-related bonus points! Had fun, made friends, got better with the straight key and thanks for the qsos.
Good in 20m and 80m, noise in 40m
73 de Emil, I5EFO (13262s)
Busy Saturday with a regional SET event. Got on late Sat till I fell asleep..Sunday signals were great. Missed several opportunities for multiple contacts.. OOp's..reminder..Read the game plan..
Thank's to all for the fun time...73 Rick Mo. Outlaws
I'm in southern Mississippi so threatening (but ultimately benign in my area) hurricane Nate required me to lower my tower Saturday afternoon and cease operation for the day. By Sunday morning the threat was over but raising the tower is a big job so left it down and worked with the 15-foot high beam.
Twenty meters was open to Europe and asiatic Russia on Saturday and was able to work 20 QSO's in 8 countries. Much fun.
Fifteen meters was open Saturday and I was able to work three doubles, all in Europe.
Sunday with the tower still down, I was able to work 26 QSO's in o bit over one hour.
It was a fun event and the multi-band aspect was a great idea. I wish I had had more time and better weather to talke fuller advantage of the unusual contest.
As always, thanks to the organizers and participants for a fun weekend.,
Lots of station qsoed on 40 mostly, some new members..and plenty of station qsoed on different bands few on 160m...73, Hank PU...Geee
Enjoyed working Italy, France and Israel for a change. Thanks to those Bert, Avi and Gino for pulling my signal in. Band Condx a little better with 15 Meters open for a while. Hope to see you all next time. 73
Worked F6HKA/3 bands, K3WW/2 bands, thanks for all the sprint qso's. Very enjoyable event.
rough with other contests on key broke not fun but did my best
WOW! I cant believe 20 meters held up so long. This was a great sprint. 20, 40, and 80 all did very well. I ran my Ten-Tec Eagle fresh back from the factory repair of the Audio circuits. I can now do a sked with my brother. key was a restored Speed-X Less Logan model 515 Bug.
Nice Long Path to Vk7CW on 20 Sunday Afternoon and (short path?) on 40 early Sunday Morning. 20 and 40 great to Europe. Lots of activity. Had time interruptions but still managed 15 hours. Thanks to all for a fine WES
Nice turnouts on 20, 40, and 80 meters. There was some CA QSO party activity on 15, but I never found any SKCC action there. Nice to work several European stations. Some QRN on the bands, but manageable. QRO (100w) with IC-756proIII this time around. Jody-K3JZD
I liked the bonus setup this month, really nice to see folks trying more bands. Managed WA3GM and WK2S on 6 bands each, and F6HKA on 5. 5 stations were worked on 4 bands, 17 on 3 bands, and 52 on 2 bands.
Tried out the MFJ-553 Deluxe Wood Base Telegraph Straight Key, shown below. I used it for all my contacts and liked the feel. Good to try out different paddles.
Thnx to all for great fun this WES.
Didnít have a lot of time to participate this month, but, enjoyed the contacts I did make. Many thanks to KD9VT/0 for making ND available!
IC-7300 into OCF Vertical Flagpole with Bagali Spark and my new VizKey Vertical Bug.
QRV for about an hour near the end on 20 and 40M. Thanks for the QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI.
Bands seemed to be in pretty good shape and I really enjoyed the contest this time. Thanks to all for the QSOs.
Short time. Good Fun!
Lots of QRM from contesters with keyboard-generated/computer-decoded faux-CW.
FT-450D @20Watts to end-fed 60' wire. Czech Army key.
Thank You all who participated and the stations I worked. The SKCC WES gets more fun each month!!! HPE 2 CU ALL next month!!!!!!!
TenTec Argonaut V at 15 watts thru 50 feet of lightweight coax to ground mounted vertical managed 2 contacts to F6HKA (20 & 15).
Never heard 10 open but 15 was certainly open. I didn't hear much SKCC activity, but maybe I was simply in the wrong skip zone.
I thought the theme was another winner. Thanks
This was my first time operating with a bug and it was fun! Hopefully I'll have more time on the air for the next WES.
Did I win?? You betcha!!! Got to touch base with some great ops. Got to play on the SK. What more could you ask?? 73
Was honored to be NM5Z's last QSO for his "T"
That was a fun theme! Bands were in great shape with several stations in Europe finally being heard and worked from the Left Coast, lately a rare event here. Even 10m and 15m opened up a little. Everything fell apart about 8 hours from the end of the event when I started to get horrendous power line QRN from some nearby source East of my QTH, where most of you reside, that began when the local humidity shot up. Only the strongest stations made it through the noise. Intermittently the noise would stop and I could copy the weaker stations.
On the bright side, I made contacts with Dave, KD9VT, in ND (3 bands) and Pete, NM5PS, in NM (2 bands) to complete the WAS-S award. Application sent in Saturday. 73 de K6ELQ Tony
Pleased to log Senator KD9VT/0 in ND on 2 Bands. Been waiting for an S to show up in ND for a long time!
CA QSO PARTY TOOK PRECEDENCE THIS TIME.
Little time for WES this month due to working communications for Public Service event.
I enjoyed this WES. 20 meters for the most part was busy with another contest, but I did hear a few there. I got most of my contacts on 40 meters, though I did find one on 15 meters. I made contact with a respectable 26 different SPC's, and hopefully a few more additions for my TX8. See you next month!
I like the bonus points idea for working the same station more than once. Could that become a regular part of sprint scoring?
This month I decided to use my 1 watt 40 meter rig. Built from an article in QST. Had a very good time and most everyone I called could hear me. That says something about everyone else's receivers. See you all next month.
Went to Great Lakes Hamcon Saturday. When I turned on the rig in the evening KD9VT/0 first station I heard. Didn't hear Dave again rest of the weekend. Worked K3WW, WZ4M and F6HKA on 3 bands. Tried to get K3WW on fourth band. Called Chas on 20 meters several times but he just kept sending qrz. Oh well. Sure had fun.
Band conditions much improved over last months WES.
40 and 80 meters quite busy Saturday evening. Rig was an old FT 101 EE @ 100 watts out to a G5rv antenna. Enjoyable as always.
Happily, I managed to squeeze some WES time in between chores this month. All signals were nice and clear here in SW Washington (particularly Bert F6HKA ! ), so I was able to snag contacts in three different countries in spite of the many contesting stations. I also worked one other SKCC member during the weekend, but it didn't qualify for WES; Ed W1EJ was paddidling busily as he logged a pile of QRQ ops during his SOTA activation of Boca Hill in California.
Thanks to all who participated. Family activities prevented more time on the air, but always fun. 73 & God Bless. Ric, KA3LOC 3660S
Seems like every WES something interferes. Sorry, this weekend was no different. Oh well, one of these days. Nice to have worked Bert F6HKA on 15 and 20 Meters out here in Arizona. 73
A great WES. Probably my best ever. Chasing the S HI HI. Got Cuba 3 times, Canada and France. The other contest made it a little ruff but enjoyed it you guys. Only got 1 station on 3 bands but got 5 on 2 bands. TNX and CU next month.
Planned to really work this one on
Sunday. Rain from the hurricane showed up abt 7am and then we lost power five times throughout the day. Only squeaked out ten QSO's between outages.
Still fun, just not enough of it :-)
Saturday was to get ready for Nate and Sunday was to get everything back out that had been put away. Another fun event. Thanks to the organizers and to those I managed to make contact. K-2 to G5RV up 35 feet. 72/73, Phil
I think this is my best WES ever. Also qualified for WAS-S. Thanks everyone for a great WES!!
Only made the last 15 minutes of the Event....
I"ll make up for it next month.
K2/10 at 5 watts
EF QUAD antenna at 33 feet
SKCC Club Key
Decided to give my FTdx3000 one last work out before it is replaced by a Flexradio 6400. sending it to Yaesu for a checkup. Had lots of fun.
Had to cut my WES time short this month. Hoping to get out of town before the thunderstorms descend. See you next month.
A nice turnout and interesting theme. Thanks to all that worked me and 73
As usual great fun , bands were pretty good , some QRN , with a few rain storms about . did spend some time Saturday afternoon chasing FISTS members on their sprint. Many thanks to all . 73 Don
Thank you all for the good time!
It was fun, as usual.
Rig is Alinco DX-SR8. ANT is parallel dipole at 25 feet in the attic. Navy Flame Proof Key.
Thank you and 73!
Had a great time working from ND. Bands seemed pretty good. I worked 3 stations in France, 1 in England and 1 in Belgium. I was a little surprised that it wasn't a little busier. I did have a lot of intentional QRM and some Digital QRM. Both made it tough at times. Why do people do that?
Thank you to all that answered or called me. 73 Dave
While I didn't score many bonus points, I love the theme this time!! Great idea to encourage working the same station on different bands.
Bands were in pretty good shape. I got several new numbers. I even worked a new country (Belize).
I used by trusty Heathkit HW-101 and Vibroplex straight key for this WES.
Played with my new K3S.Nice to see 15 meters open.
Thought 20 meters was dead Saturday, antenna not connected to RX! Just playing Sunday lots of Fun.
Good turnout, but contests made for a challenge. QSB on 20 was pretty tough. Sorry for the stations I lost in mid exchange.
Not bad for the small amount of time I spent on the air, special thanks to WB0SND for being the only station I managed to work on 2 bands!
Bands were in great condition and the bandscope was filled with signals. Lots of fun and thank you to everyone I worked and is helping me along the path from Tx8 to S!
Enjoyed this month's theme. Got me off 40 meters. Managed to catch QSOs on 80, 40, 20 and 15. Ran QRP with my KX2, inverted vee and a combination of my K4VIZ horizontal bug and the Begali HST in "Cootie" mode. Many thanks for all the good "ears" out there! Looking forward to the next ... 72, jack
Lot of fun with a good theme although I didn't work but two stations on other bands. Good to work a few new numbers. Looking forward to next month's WES!
Lots of fun this weekend with more time for WES without wasting time on the NFL! Results would have been better if I had noticed the pre-amp was off on my KX2. Live and learn.
First WES ... apologies to those I sent my number to wrong on Sat.. I had it transposed on my cheat sheet. Thanks to all who slowed down as well, I was amazed at the skill and speed of the majority of OPs, you guys make it sound like music.
Well, that was fun. but I forgot about the BONUS points until after the event ended! Only 1 call worked on 2 bands (50pts).
Band conditions improved somewhat. But it's still at the bottom of the cycle. I hope.
I enjoyed the event and was glad to hand out a new number to a few operators. As always, thanks to all of the great operators for finding my signal.
Lots of great fun. Ran the IC-746 and a J-38 type key along with an occasional qso with the bug. 73 es see everyone on the next sprint...Bill
I actually almost missed WES this month, didn't realize it was this weekend until Sunday. Had to work part of the day, but had a couple of hours late afternoon Sunday and did rather better than usual. Nothing fancy, just my KX3 and a 40M EFHW on 40 and a little on 80. Very enjoyable WES, thanks to all the ops that make this such a fun event. 73, Mike
Operated portable 10 watts for several hours this WES. Weather was pretty good but windy. My mag loop blew down a few times and I got rained on Saturday morning. Was able to QSO with France, Germany and Poland. 73
Been a while since my last WES. Forgot how much fun WES is. I operated as I had time for it over the weekend. Nice opening on 15 meters Sunday afternoon brought some extra bonus points and new DX SPC's. Had many 2 and 3 band QSO's. Had one 4 band QSO with K3EW !
Did this WES the HARD Way: No 40meters, S9 grow light RFI both days, Antenna: Hustler Mobile on a tripod and one elevated radial. Saturday was good compared to Sunday. Thanks to those who were able to hear me on 80. The antenna makes a great dummy load on that band. 73 to all, de N4ow, AL
bands pretty good after the storm today, tried 100 watts for a change mostly with my cootie, some with bug, between babysitting grandkids and playing with them made a few contacts, had fun 73 Rodney
Now that was fun! The bands cooperated and Hurricane Nate took a right turn and left me alone so all was good this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised with band conditions and a great turnout for this WES. Thanks for the QSO's and all the great ops pounding brass. Icom 7410 to my 80 meter loop and an old Signal Electric straight key. 73, Jim
Well made this WES, last month had to evacuate because of Irma. No real damage or flooding !!
Used all four of my Elecraft radios for the WES, QRO with the KX3 on 40m and 80m. The rest worked QRP.....
Had a good couple of days between chasing SOTA activators !!
Look for everyone next month.....and thanks to ops out there !

Nice to hear 15m and 10m open up. Need more folks to check 15m!! Thanks to Randy (W2RAN) and Larry (KJ1RE) for 5 bands. Was a fun event, but had other priorities so was in/out. Nice to see so many new folks getting into the WES events!
Made Tribune in this WES

Very good conditions on all bands. Tnx to all for the QSO's
This SKCC was the first one in a long time. Used my Vibroplex bug and you could tell that I am not good with it. I'll keep trying to improve. Thanks for all the calls and hope to work you again next month. Best 73 Mac NN4K
Ran a k2 and buddipole antenna from Montross Va Ffall festival from 8 am till around 1 pm.
Another FB WES. Hope to return next month. Best 73s from Miller City, Ohio

Didn't have a lot of time but ended up better off than I thought I would. Always fun.

Very good conditions.
A lot of QSO with US stations (AF4K, K8NS, AD0AB, W1TAG, W0VTT, K0RO, NM1W, NO8C, K3WW). You have good ears, because here only K2 (100W) and GP antenna.
To the next WES!

It was my very first WES when I've used my new UR3WA call sign instead of UU1CC. A lot of fun as usual despite the modest antenna, it is always a great pleasure to meet old friends and to find some new ones.
Exciter: 2x 6F6 VXO, 4 watts
Amplifier: 2x1625 70 watts
Antenna: Fishing pole 7m with a bunch of counterpoises

Just less than one hour in 20m on Saturday morning wid 703 @ 5W, endfed wire & Bushwacker as cootie. TU es 73 de Jose VE3DTI.
How opportune to find upper bands open in conjunction with this month's theme! Worked slightly over half of the sprint. A weekend free of other responsibilities - a sprinter's dream! But while the motivation was there the old bones voted otherwise, hi. Not complaining. Enjoyed it immensely! Thanks all.
(Put out a few CQs with my new little Palm cootie - then chickened out before anyone could answer me for fear I'd blow it during the exchange. Guess that's what off-air practice is for.)
K3s at 30 watts to a magnetic look in the new shack. Cootie key. Just got moved into new house. hope to have antennas up soon
Used straight keys this time: McElroy Stream key on Saturday morning and a Bencher on Sunday afternoon.
Nice conditions, with great openings to EU. Looked like good participation, with a number of new QSO's. Managed a 6-band set with K1EDG and 4 bands with K6ELQ. Fun stuff! Thanks to all.
THANKS TO ALL THAT CAME BACK TO ME. NO BONUS POINTS. ONLY HAVE 2OM ATTIC DIPOLE. SEE YOU NEXT WES. 73 RON
This WES I worked casually, only making 52 QSOS. No excuses, just lacked "butt in the chair" motivation. Thanks for the QSOs and it was really cool to work Avi 4X1WQ, it been a while. 73 Art W2NRA 11634Sx5
Only a little time available on Sunday. The bands sounded in pretty good shape. Happy to actually make some contacts on 15 meters. TNX to Jim, NM1W for 5 bands. CU next sprint 73
Had about 45 minutes available to work in the sprint. Pastor appreciation Sunday at church and I had the Sunday evening message to prepare as we gave our pastors the "day off" on Sunday and had a dinner on Saturday.
I did get Dave KD9VT in ND on 40 & 20 - now I only need UT for WAS-S. I usually like to make 100 Qso's or so but 5 will have to do this month. Looking forward to Nov.
OK, so not a great big score, eh? But it was my first ever contest in CW. First time. I didn't even have an SKCC number until Sunday afternoon. I had fun, and managed not to bungle anything. I will return! Thanks, SKCC.
This theme was really a blast. Had a lot of contacts on 80 and 15. A few on 160 and 6. First skcc contacts with Poland and Belize. Thanks to everyone I contacted. Missed a bunch of contacts when I left the 80 meter antenna connected when I was on other bands for 2 hours. Couldn't figure out why no one could hear me. Getting old!
First time submitting "anything" to SKCC - first WES that I really, sorta kinda, participated in. Had a great time, and will do it again next month.
Great conditions! A very hearty thanks to Dave KD9VT for his trip to North Dakota!
Had visions of working this WES all weekend, but real life intervened. Had to take a few hours to deal with a crisis. Bands were in great shape from here. I worked more DX stations this time than any three WES's before. 73, and see you all next week.
Not much time for radio had to work and do things here on the farm but while I was on the air had really good time with my QRP rig the FX9A thanks to all ststions for picking up my 5w signal with wire antenna
Many thanks to KD9VT for putting ND in play!
Thanks to all who copied my 5w QRP sig. Actually was able to work 3 FRA stations - tnks fer pulling me out. Ant EFHW up 25 ft. Key was my old J38. 73 Ken
Operated QRP away from (but near) my home on this one. Threw up a home-made G5RV (made for me by another SKCC'er K1TSW) at just 16ft high at it's apex. Set the little pwr supply at 12v which gave me between 4 and 5 watts out from my IC-703. Worked 3 French and 1 Italian stations. Worthy to mention, one of the French stations was F6HKA and that contact was our 100th QSO over the years (thanks Bert). Always a fun event!
Had alot of fun this past weekend.
Worked Chas K3WW on 6 Bands 160-10 for the 1,000 points and Bert on 2 Bands for 50 Pts.
Good weekend to break in my NEW Icom 7600
Only had a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon to work WES this time; 10 out of 12 QSO's on 40, 1 each on 20 and 15, including some new numbers, and added 5 more to my S quest. So a profitable and enjoyable time. Hope to have more time in Nov. Kenwood TS-590SG to 68ft. long horizontal loop in attic up 25ft.
Have been away from WES for some time. Glad to be back, loads of fun. Finished Tribune award. 2478T effective 9 Oct. 30 watts and a wire along with a couple hours made a fun weekend. 73, Nick.
Worked mainly Sunday PM. Enjoyed working some great operators including some new ones for me. Thanks to all. 73
Gud conditions on 15m and 20m for a change 73/72, Ray
I had a whole hour to work the WES this weekend. Just too many distractions. Also, I have been moving my shack to another room, so I'm really not set up yet. Still had fun during the hour I had which was the LAST hour of the event. Used my trusty Viking 2 and 75A-4 with my still only antenna which is an 80 meter doublet fed with 600 ohm ladder line at 50 plus feet. Nice to see some new callsigns in this event. Maybe next month I can devote more time.
I made some WES contacts while spending the weekend in Susquehanna State Park in northeastern Maryland. Kudos to Tony K6ELQ who managed to copy my QRP signals out in California on two bands. 73/72, Craig WB3GCK
Had plenty of time to work the WES this time. Bands were pretty good all weekend, and not too noisy. Lots of signals on 20 and 40 meters, but only a few on 15 and 80 meters. Looking forward to the SKS.
Although I only managed to participate for about an hour, it was fun. Four of my first five contacts were with PA on 40 meters. Thanks for the contacts. 73, Art
Thanks to all who I was able to QSO with.... 20 was hoping, though I was able to get a few on 15 and 40 and a couple on 80. Next month..... 73 & God Bless
Just in and out this month...mostly out...73's all
Been awhile and enjoyed....particularly multiple band bonus.
Fun theme. K3WW on SIX bands, F6HKA on 4, K6ELQ on 3, IZ2QXG and OS0S on 2. Thanks to all, participants and organizers! 73, Art
Thanks for a such a great event especially for new OPS... 73 Lane WK4WC
Fun as always. The bands were in decent shape.
Thank you to the organizers and participants.
Station: K3/100W to a 270' Horizontal loop @ 30, Viz Key Bigfoot Cootie
Very good sprint as bands were in fair condition for me for a change. I was able to work Tony, K6ELQ on 15, 20 and 40 and Bert, F6HKA on 20 and 15. This was a first for me to work anyone on 15 during a sprint. So, I am a happy camper. Thanks to all who pulled me out and also to the sprint organizers. Best 72 & 73 from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia, Dave
