KBØETU Operated by: Phil, 4542 from AL

Another fun filled time. Unfortunately, I'm working 2000z to 0400z both days during this
sprint. Sorta puts a crimp in my activity trying to get sleep and work the sprint too.
Looking forward to next month's already. 73/72 to all.

K2OGT Operated by: Bob, 5266C from NY

lots of fun

ACØPR Operated by: Mike, 7033 from ND

This was my first Sprint ever and the end of my fisrt week using a straight key. I had a
blast and really enjoyed it although I only worked Sat. a few hours. Thanks, I'm already
looking forward to the next one!

Homebrew key used for sprint (AC0PR-Mike)

WB8ENE Operated by: Art, 3773T from OH

Rather busy this weekend, so didn't spend much time on the WES. All of my contacts were
made on 40 meters. See you next week in the 2-hour SKS. 73, Art

IK2SON Operated by: Tony, 5486C from Italy

AA9NK Operated by: Daniel, 7036 from IL

This was my first straight key QSO ever! It was also memorable because it was my first
QRP, first with new rig (Elecraft KX1), first with new (old) Junker key, and first SKCC
QSO. Looking forward to many more firsts with SKCC. Thanks!

K6HTN Operated by: Kate, 5405 from CA

The first part was a little rough because of the speed demons in the NA contest. But that stopped soon enough.

Now I have better performance on 40 m and 80 m with a twin-lead fed dipole. Also, the code is slowly getting easier.
If the signal is good, I no longer feel like I must have ALL the information from someone's previous QSO's BEFORE I
answer them. That makes things go quite a bit faster. I also managed to hold my own frequency for seven Q's in a row
this time. My brain still revolted, however, after a certain number of hours & refused to copy any more.

I wanted to have a contact on 80 m, so I sort of ambushed KI6BHB after the RN6 net Saturday night ...

VK4TJ Operated by: John, 4474T from VK

True confessions time: I was actually cherry-picking the check-ins on K3UK to try and
push myself over the top of DXQ200, which I accomplished, thanks. Whilst I did work all
comers, apologies to any on the sked page who may have felt a little left out. Don't be
shy - ask me for sked, even if you rate your chances as midway between slim and none :-)

K8LJG Operated by: John, 336T from MI

As usual lot's of fun. Nice sounding fist's with those old key's.

Vibroplex Deluxe #242563 1965

K4SKB Operated by: Ike, 6842 from NC

Only my second WES but had lots of fun and really getting back into the swing of CW. Thanks to all

K8MEG Operated by: Rich, 4637T from MI

Busy weekend late start but had fun!!

N1LU Operated by: Don, 2252T from NH

Didn't have much time for the WES. Worked about half mobile. I just have a paddle in my
truck so I set the IC 706 keyer off and used one paddle as a straight key. The only
problem was that the thumb side that was the active paddle. So for those I worked while
mobile, please excuse my all thumbs fist!

KC6ZZT Operated by: Joe, 3647 from CA

Had a great time. Good propagation. From CA got MA, Australia, France, and a few places in
between. Also got my 100th QSO, so I will be submitting my info for my C.

Thanks to all!

W5ZR Operated by: Bert, 2931T from LA

Not much air time this weekend but bands sounded well populated with SKCCers.
73 Bert

WA2JSG Operated by: Curt, 3018T from NJ

Drag Races Saturday night in Englishtown, then church functions Sunday morning & afternoon
kinda took my time away from WES. Thanks to W9DLN, W7GVE, F6HKA, KL8DX for the 4 great
contacts I was able to make. I was hoping to catch Karen for #5, but it wasn't to be.
Better luck next time.

EA3NO Operated by: Lluis, 6653T from Spain

Thank you very much everyone for your calls .. good conditions at 15 and poor in 40
meters, I would have liked to finish the WAS but it was not possible, by a violent storm
I've been qrt several hours. Thanks to all 73

N3JJT Operated by: Scott, 255T from OH

Well, I will tell you, just as much fun as always! Worked some folks that I have not
worked in awhile! Hello Bert(W5ZR) I would like to welcome, Russ, W8KI, member #6973!
Keep up the good work, Russ! It only gets better! I have not worked a sprint in some
time! Summer months has me doing things outdoors! I am sure we will see each other more
as the winter months make their way!

73...Scott de 255T

KL7GLL Operated by: Gene, 1098T from VA

Bands in good shape and great activity with seldom a slow period. Lots of great QRP
signals and many new members I'd not worked before. Also great DX participation. All
around fabulous WES.

KC2EGL Operated by: Michael, 553T from PA

One of these months I am going to find a way to devote the entire day for the WES. Had a
blast. Will make sure I can play in next months WES. CU during SKS. 73, Michael

K5ENA Operated by: John, 3045T from OK

Made contact on 80, 40, and 20. Good to work EA3NO and F6HKA. Good signals from
Europe. Always enjoy our sprints.

73,
John, K5ENA

WA2OQJ Operated by: Jim, 5941T from NY

A lot of fun as usual...started off on a sour note, forgot all about the WES until I
happened upon Drew AF2Z on 80 CQing WES....DOH! Then didnt seem like I would make another
contact after Drew....Worked the entire sprint at 500mw's and managed to rack up 21 Q's and
at least 6 more partial contacts that ended with "sri cant pull you out"...for a late start
and no game plan I was happy with 21 good ones in the book....Tnx again to all my contacts
and everyone who tried!.....See ya in the next one!

KØLUW Operated by: Russ, 1702T from NE

A nice sprint, Saturday night was great but Sunday my local noise level was very high
limiting who I could hear..

K4BAI Operated by: John, 3280 from GA

Band conditoins on 40 and 20 seemed OK. Worked a number of DX stations, most of who were
members. 80M was weak and noisy. Thanks for all QSOs and see you all next month. 73,
John, K4BAI.

KD8JHJ Operated by: Mike, 4877C from OH

Good cw fun as usual. Thanks everyone for the contacts. KE7- I just could not copy your
signals even with the repeat late sunday moring on 14 MHz. I will try again next time
om. By the end of the sprint 20 meters sounded great. The two biggest signals at my QTH
were Bert W5ZR and Bert F6HKA Thanks guys for the QSOs. Antennas- 20 and 40 meter end
fed half wave wires at 28' and 38' 50 watts. 73

Original bug with homebrew bug tamer.

N3EIN Operated by: Matt, 6742 from PA

I suspect this will be a record WES for many SKCC ops. I was able to work 80m,40m,20m and
15m for the first time in one contest. A few high points were working Walt-LW3EX on 15m
and 20m, Bert-F6HKA on 20m and 40m, LLuis-EA3NO on 20m and finally making my first home
state(PA) contact(!) Thanks Jim - N3MVX. Thanks to everyone in between for making this a
really fascinating WES. 73 Matt - Ten Tec Century 21, G5RV Lite, SKCC Pro-Pump.

AD5VC Operated by: Dana, 1555T from LA

Struggled with an antenna with some corroded joints for most of Sunday, resulting in weak
signals. After I got it cleaned up, had good luck with 20, 40 and even 15. About 1/4 of
contacts were with new members.

W4CUX Operated by: Bill, 5497T from GA

I had some difficulty because of a new antenna configuration, but was able to make a
number of contacts. Mostly on 40m, but a few on 20 and 80. I got to play with all of my
CW toys. First sprint with Vibroplex bug and recently acquired J38. Looking forward to
next Sprint.

73 - Bill

A great way to spend a rainy Sunday.

W7GVE Operated by: Ed, 729T from AZ

A nice turnout---- Had 2 power outages totaling over an hour--- Not a good way to take
a break-- Heard EA3NO but not able to QSO with him. Did manage to work 3 EU stns..
Even a few numbers of over 7000.
Now back to ragchewing for the brag--ED

NØUYN Operated by: Dennis, 5753C from MO

Good conditions on 20M and seemingly good participation overall. Ran into a couple of
SKCC'ers working the Classic Exchange contest (CQ CX) along with WES. Thanks to Brian
K7TKT and Mike KA2FIR for new states of ID and NJ. 73.

KAØCSW Operated by: Jim, 3741T from MN

Very happy to work the Special SKCC station in Spain. That is my first DX SKCC number.
Thanks to all for another fun WES.

W4CU Operated by: Tom, 2733T from FL

Did not get to start until Sunday Morning so decided to go QRP with my new K2. It seemed
to work pretty well with my MA5B 2 Element antenna. I had many more QSO's than expected
and had a great time. Thanks to all those who dug out my signal. vy 73 - Tom

Tnx to all..73,Bill

WS9E Operated by: Joe, 3859 from WI

I operated for about an hour and a half. I used the Orion and my old Speed-X key. 40
Mtrs was the best with a couple of QSOs on 80 and a couple on 20 where there was a lot of
QSB.
I heard Lluis a few times on 20. He couldn't hear me. I did work Bert, F6HKA, who was
louder than most stateside stations at my QTH.
Thanks to all. I enjoy working the friendly SKCC ops. Great fun.

WDØECO Operated by: Mitch, 6893 from MO

I had a great time. And thanks to Bert, F6HKA, who I was able to work on three bands -
15, 20, and 40 meters.

For much of the contest I used my new NT9K SKCC Pro Pump key. I used the Bencher SK the
rest of the time.

73, Mitch WD0ECO

N2JNZ Operated by: George, 2836T from NY

Thanks to all I worked !!! Thanks to Russ , K0LUW for 3 bands (20,40 and 80)Ran 100 watts
today so if I screwed up with the new bug I wouldnt have to repeat so often .....hihi.
Didnt call CQ as much which hurt my score. Good Conditions on 20 with 5 DX countries.
Nice to work a number in the 7000's (AC0PR). Lots of new numbers out there !!! Great
group and lots of great fists !!! Keep it up !!!! Rig here a Kenwood TS 930s , 100 watts
to a ZeroFive 40 meter vertical and Bug a 1964 Blue Racer.

Great WES for me!! 25 contact, 20 st/co and 19 T's. Seems to be a lot more T's or maybe
just luck. I might have enought for mine. Thanks to F6HKA Bert for the contact. I don't
get many of those in East Texas. Hope to see you all again.

Tried 28.050 nada. Tried 21.050 and got Walt LW3EX. Nothing on 80M, the rest divided
between 20M & 40M. Worked Bert F6HKA, Timo OH5FNI, & Lluis EA3NO on 20M. Enjoyable WES
and lookin forward to October. 73 all K4FP Sandy

W9DLN Operated by: Dan, 3635T from WI

Another great WES is in the books. The low bands were very good last night. Had 80 QSOs
before I hit the bed. Even got a few 160M contacts. Sunday morning gave the usual New
England mults. 20 started off slow but got cranking in the afternoon with lots of DX.
Many of them were SKCC. Worked F, OH, HB, I, ON, 2E, 9A and VK. Worked my first
Canadian with about four hours to go which was unuaual. Also missed WV for the first
time that I can remember. Finished off the day on 40 and finally 80. Thanks to all the
guys and gals for the fun.

Special thanks for K3UK and K2RFP. Couldn't do it without you guys.

Noticed one thing with the Sprint Logger database. There were quite a few errors for
some reason. I updated it about 15 minutes before WES and then a few hours into the
event. Guys were T and it said they were C. I even found one that said AA1SM was MA but
he was really ME. Not sure what was up with that. Still overall a great WES.

73 and see you all next month I hope!

KB1OIQ Operated by: Andy, 6265 from MA

I set up the QRP tuna can family (xmtr, rcvr, and 3W amp) in my back yard under a canopy
and threw a wire into a tree with the counterpoise laying on the ground. The entire setup
was battery powered. I was pleased to make 6 SKCC contacts and 3 non-SKCC contacts. This
is more than I've ever done before. My goals: have fun, improve my CW skills, and don't
come in last in the WES. :-)

WØSZV Operated by: Eldon, 4999T from MO

one qso but on warc band so don't count. tried 3 times for Lluis but he couldn't hear me.
Too many other things going on this time. be back next month

WAØBGV Operated by: Slim, 5465T from MO

I had a fine time this WES. Generally good wx, not too much qrn this time. I am already
looking toward the next SKCC event. A little activity on 15 meters was welcome,
especially F6HKA, LW3EX, IK2RMZ, and the sp-op EA3NO. Tnx Bert, Walt, Martin, and Lluis.
Also worked several of my MO SKCC friends, N0UMP, W0MSM, K0KEX, WD0ECO, N3PDT, and W0YZZ.
Thanks to all for all the fun. de Slim

Did not play as many hours as had planned. Excellent participation. Lots of new contacts
along with new Cs and Ts for me. DX SSB was heavy on 40 towards the end. Thanks to my
contacts for putting up with me. Thank you SKCC and K3UK. This is the best CW group out
there.

WØMSM Operated by: Mark, 6585T from MO

another great sprint, here in MO. the bands were fairly quiet and propagation good..K2RFP
made the cat and bird dance(thanks Dick)..worked a lot of numbers both low and high, good
to see so many of us out there having some cw fun..tnx to Bert F6HKA with qso`s on 15 and
20..Logged Timo OH5FNI and ErkkiOH7QR on 20 tnx guys!! Feel like I worked a lot more of
my responses this sprint but still had a couple of (nils).sorry guys ...in the last few
minutes I cudn`t quite pull out the station who would be my record breaker (I think WD5---
)..but to reach my high qso total was great!!!thanks to everyone who works to make the
sprints happen and to all who join in and make it fun 73 Mark W0MSM

WA1AR Operated by: Alan, 4079T from MA

I only had a little time Sunday morning, too many visitors and a little football got in
the way. I was able to get EA3NO on 15M. I also got to use a new bug I got from Dave
W1DV. Since it's not a Vibroplex I had to search the internet to find out what it is. I
am now quite sure its a Les Logan "reverse frame" in black crinkel from around 1932.
Very plain but also very functional. It is very slow with just one weight, around 18 WPM
fully out. CUL

W4KRN Operated by: Karen, 4495T from VA

Great to hear the DX stations and Phil KL8DX. Highlight was working Gordon N6WK, wonderful
to hear him pounding brass again. Used my RJ-1 Bencher key. 20m was good, but noticed more
QSB than last sprint. Glad I have the A4S yagi. Thanks to all for the contacts. Cu in the
next SKS.

W3NP/2 Operated by: Dave, 3182T from NY

Since I was going to be visiting my sister in the Buffalo,NY area this weekend and didn't
want to miss the WES, I decided to take a rig along. Used my Argosy II at 5 watts into an
end fed 28' piece of 22 ga wire that I stuck out the bedroom window and attached the other
end to a tree at about 15' in the air and used the TT 291 coupler. Took along the battery
from my snowblower since I thought I would have to do this outside. The battery held up
fine which was good since I didn't bring a PS. Used a Nye Master key. I didn't expect much
compared to the antennas at home, but I was surprised with the results. I didn't have a
lot of time to operate since I was on a family visit and the xyl made sure that I didn't
spend all evening on the radio. I was happy to work Vince S52CC on 40 meters as well as
Bert F6HKA on 20 and 40. Even worked Vern W9HLY up on 80 - the only station I heard there.
It was a lot of fun using the hacked together setup and I really enjoyed the time I had to
be on. Had to take the station down around 1730 and head back to WV. The photos was taken
0300 on the 13th, just after the 7 hour drive home. Thanks to those who pulled my weak
signal out of the noise.

Still at my temporary (2months) Michigan QTH. Set the QRP rig up Sunday afternoon and the
bands sounded very dead, I thought I had an antenna problem. After an early dinner the
bands were sounding better. All 40 meters except around 2330 I tuned across 20M and there
was Bert, W5ZR with his usual big signal, thanks Bert. I had two guys question my QTH, I
guess because it didn't match the SKCC data base in their Sprint Logger! In any case the
Sprints are still much fun.

Nice to be able to have some fun again. I still wanted more than I was able to do. Lots of
new members to work this time. I missed lots of old friends this time. Saturday night was
a bit rough with the other contest going on. Biggest signal was Bert W5ZR at 40 over S9.
Wish I could have put more hours in, but I still had a good time.
Until next time, 73. Bill NT9K..

Unfortunately I did not have too long to operate in this months WES.
Managed two OH members, and three non members.
Heard both W2DEC (a Tribune so I believe.....got a bit frustrated that I couldn't QSO)
and K4JPN calling CQ WES, but 5 watts and an inverted dipole didn't quite make it across
the sea on 20mtrs.

Not to worry....good fun all the same.

Equipment used, FT817,5watts, Inverted V at 25 feet and Junker key.

A friends picknic at home made me able to only have the last three hours to enjoy the WES.
26 stations worked,5 new SKCC members for my collection.
Thanks to all of you that I was happy to contact.
My apology to a few stations (I think 3) who called me, but never understand the call-
signs as the level was not enough to overtake the RX noise.
I am already looking forward to be present to the next WES, I really hope so !
Now, I will be happy to continue a night search of SKCC regular QSO about 20 to 22:00 UTC
very often along the week.
73 to all and good luck to all !

Sunday morning was rainy so I got to spend a few hours indoors playing in the WES from my cottage in QC.
Conditions were pretty good. I was surprised to see 20m open after sunset on Saturday night and QRN on 40m
was very low on Sunday morning with decent propagation. I used my 1970 Vibroplex Lightning Bug Deluxe, Yaesu FT-
897D @ ~ 50W and a double-sized G5RV (204 ft doublet) at about 50 ft. See you next month .. Michael VA2NB

WHERE WERE ALL THE CENTURIANS??

Had a fun WES..Haven't done one for a while..its a great, relaxing event--no pressure as
most contests go. Worked maybe half the available hours but worked a really nice cross
section of states and numbers. Made significant progress toward next Tx.

Rig was a old FT707 that I got for $35 and just finished repairing on Saturday. It worked
pretty well for the entire event. The New Carolina Windom 40 hombrew clone continues to
surprise me even going into its third winter.

Also used the 1948 Vibroplex Standard for many of the contacts and virtually ALL of the
CQ's :) You can still tell when I switch tho..still getting re-acquainted with the bug.

See you all for the next SKS.

AC2C Operated by: Ron, 2748T from MD

KL8DX Operated by: Phil, 3800T from AK

I only had a few hours and my effort was search & pounce or requests on the Sked Page.
Conditions into Europe was pretty darn good considering our band conditions lately on 20
meters. Managed OH5FNI, F6HKA, and EA3NO. Lower 48 stations worked were W9DLN, W7GVE,
W6MQI, K5YQF, W4FOA, WA2JSG, W4KRN, W2DEC, KL7GLL, VE3CWU, W1OOO and my propagation check
contact with W1PNS. It has been a busy summer and I have plenty of antenna work to do
before the snow arrives, which with a low temperature of 35 last night, that won't be
long. Looking forward to the winter so I can once again participate in the WES contest.

KØKEX Operated by: Rick, 5220T from MO

Time for this WES was taken with a Bass tournament on my home lake "Smithville"
After heading to the ramp at 5:45 AM and fishing to 4 PM...the old man was pooped.
We did manage a few great contacts, caught EA3NO on 15M & later on 20M, Thank you
Lluis for doing the Special SKCC station. Also caught LW3EX on 15M & F6HKA on 20M.
I like the picture Slim WA0BGV has added to his post. SKCC has connected me with
many friends....what a great bunch....73

K4UPG Operated by: Kelly, 5415 from FL

Great way to celebrate my birthday... thanks for scheduling it for me! I setup lakeside
with some great tall trees to hang antennas. 40m dipole up 40ft, 44ft doublet at 20ft and
an EFHW on 20m nearly vertical offered me some directional choice. I am a CPG...contest
point giver and a VERY casual contester but enjoy the chatter and have fun reading the
mail and trying for the DX. As a QRP op running only 2.4 watts output it takes some
patience to compete but it sure is worth it.

Bands were pretty good and I heard a good number of Eu stations. F6HKA had a signal that
overloaded my receiver at times and I turned the RF gain down to 50nd he was still over
the top but I could not get a response. Highlight of the day was my "birthday present" QSO
with Lluis, EA3NO. Rain was approaching and that was my last contact of the day, but made
it a very special one for me. WES is my favorite contest!

Missed last WES and SKS so good to be back on. Started midnight Saturday on 80M after
the ARRL NA 'test cleared out. Had new 80M Hustler mobile coil that worked great ... 12
QSOs in 2 hours. Rest of the contacts were 14 Qs on 40M and 1 on 20M. Heard Bert F6FKA
on 15M but no contact (did work him on 15M on Saturday morning).

Had a hard time remembering to use new T suffix instead of C on my number.

Usual setup ... FT-950 @50W to homebrew vertical. Navy Flameproof key.

As always ... great fun and looking forward to the next WES.

Good signals, lots of fun in the short time I operated. Good to work Lluis on 20m, as
well as other DX stations. Used the sloper for 40m, and the beam for 20m. Most contacts
were made with the Annie, and some with the Flameproof.
Activity is picking up, and so is the membership. Thanks to all for a Great Club for CW.

Sunday morning to operate. This month's lineup was my Ten Tec Century 21, a 1956

seemed to be lots of activity. Hopefully in the upcoming months I will have more time.
I always enjoy the WES.

KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy, 3508T from NC

Another fun WES. Got to work EA3NO on two bands!! Thanks Lluis !! Lots of big signals this
time and new members too. John, K4BAI was strongest at a whopping 60 over. That’s as far
as the little meter will go. I heard Gordon with a nice pile up going but didn’t work him.
Great to hear #3 back on the air and running the pile up. Lots of DX this time too. Bands
were great into Europe. Got France, England, Slovenia, Argentina, Canada and Spain! Thanks
guys. Managed Bert, F6HKA on three bands. I know those filaments were getting toasty Bert!
And verry very last (literally) contact was Andy, K3UK with a last minute/second/part of a
second contact!! :-) Most surprising contact was Dan, W9DLN on 160 meters. Who’ada thunk it.
Icom 703+ at 3-5 watts into a 4 band no tuner doublet at 33 feet.

for first contact Sunday morning, haha... It was nice to be present for the final hour of
