VE3FUJ Condx at this Qth didn't seem overwhelming, I took Sunday afternoon of and went for
a drive with the Xyl. Most pleasant Wx. See you next time. Brion

KC3QU Operated by: Hank, 4567 from AL

Nothing heard on 10/15 here in AL.

KC4GIA Operated by: Mark, 4666 from VA

Lots of interruptions and a very late start. Not many Q's but still a bunch of fun. QSB
was crazy.

Thanks to all who dug out my qrp signal and poor fist.

K9QH Operated by: Mike, 1573 from WI

Love the bonus!

VA5LF Operated by: Sean, 4507C from SK

Good fun. Got off to a good start Saturday evening, but started feeling unwell so I went
to bed early. Sunday I was not feeling too well still, so I didn't get on much until near
the end. Still, managed to clobber my previous record while leaving room for improvement.
Some better propagation would have helped, as many stations were almost in the noise. See
everyone next month, and 73 from Saskatchewan.

WØSZV Operated by: Eldon, 4999T from MO

Only got to work it for a few hours this afternoon. Not a big score but lots of fun

N3JJT Operated by: Scott, 255T from OH

Well, just a casual Sprint for me again! Did some yard work, hung out, and worked the
sprint! Had fun as usual! The bands were not in the best shape! But, we still had some
fun! See ya next time, depending on the wx, if it is nice I will be fishing!

AB1BW Operated by: George, 2468T from CT

During the day conditions were pretty poor in the north east but as the sun went down
things improved on 40 and 80 meters. I hope we see some improvement for the next one.
Good or bad, it was still lots of fun. 73, George

KB3RBC Operated by: Ben, 5987 from MD

Worked the sprint with my new K2 and new double-crappie pole loop in the back yard.

Transmitting from the top of Mt. Bierstadt Colorado after a nice day of hiking.

I had a great time. It was the first contest in which I used my "new" Czech coffin key
from WWII. Thanks!

N2AUR Operated by: George, 5841C from NJ

QRN, QRM, solar flares, other contests and committments - typical for WES! I was breaking
in my new Elecraft K1 and working out the blunders. I worked Werner on 40M, but forgot to
switch from the 20M antenna. Who knows how little power was going out?
Fun as always! Thanks to all who strained their ears to dig me out.

K8JD Operated by: John, 1395T from MI

Had time here and there to work plenty of stations, even a few on 20 and one on 160M.
Had one DX contact with France ! Tried to send a picture but failed.

K1NV Operated by: Jon, 2609T from NV

Weekend sprints are tough for me, but I managed to find time to make some QSO's late in
the activity, all but one on 20 meters. LW3EX, Walt was worked on both 20 and 15 meters.
No other SKCC'ers were heard on 15M.

W1OOO was a big help for the Marconi special bonus, but I still needed one more "I" to
cover all the figures. There was good activity out of Saskatchewan with VE5CUL, VA5LF,
and VE5BCS all logged on 20M.

I couldn't keep track of W8JWA who drifted quickly up out of my passband. We'll have to
try again on the next sprint. NS7E, Art in TX, had a great 4-watt QRP signal and I was
happy to help out non-member K2THB with W.A.S. at the end of the activity. It sounds like
there will be some real good scores for this one. 73, Jon K1NV

WA1AR Operated by: Alan, 4079T from MA

40 was hot Sat. night. Sunday went to a local Flea Market, good new is I did not bring
anything home. Lots of tubes this time but no SKs or bugs. Got home and spent too much
time chansing YI9PSE, eventually got them on 3 bands, but not easy and long waits.

Alan WA1AR

KK5NA Operated by: Joe, 1923T from TX

Worked many stations this weekend, WES, GA QSO Pty and QCWA. Got several new SKCC #s and
even some DX (Canada, Puerto Rico, and Argentina). Thanks for all the contacts. Rig was
K3 @ 5 watts and antenna was EDZ @ 55 ft.

W9DLN Operated by: Dan, 3635T from WI

This WES seemed a little slower than usual but it came on strong at the end. The bands
also had a lot to be desired. I am suprised the various contests also didn't throw a
wrench in it like I figured they would. Missed quite a few states but made up for it
with DX countries. All in all I guess I can't complain. Still had a great time like
always.

Thanks everyone for all the QSOs. Special thanks to K2RFP and K3UK. You guys made it so
easy! 73, C U next month!

WA5VQM Operated by: Mark, 58C from TX

Started with the usual J-38 but quickly switched over to a 50's era vibroplex to go easier
on a sore arm. Saturday night was busy and fun. Loved hearing the 40M Novice band packed
with signals. Sunday was a struggle a good bit of the day. High noise on the low bands,
poor conditions on the higher bands. Did manage to work Walt LW3EX on 15 & 20. Logged lots
of new calls and numbers. Always enjoy the Sprints. 73

VE3AKV Operated by: Bob, 5204T from ON

Hello to all once again. I only had about 90 minutes to put towards the WES and it was
again, all on 40m. The band was good and I heard several QRP stations that were even able
to hear my QRP signal too ;) It was great to hear all the new numbers this time around too.

Until next month, 73/72 ... QRP & QRS as needed :)

Nice to make a contact on 15 meters with LW3EX. 80 Meters was very good this evening on

my Bencher RJ-2.

First SKCC contest. Wish I'd had more time to participate.

I did not have much time to spend on the WES. Mostly Saturday evening and about an hour
or two on Sunday morning. It was my first chance to try out the new NT9K Pro-Pump SKCC
Key. The key worked well and I had fun trying different adjustments during the WES
exchange.

My new SKCC NT9K Pro-Pump Key

KI6BHB Operated by: Dave, 4186C from CA

Worked QRP for a change of pace. Special thanks to Walt, LW3EX, who stuck with it and dug
out my signal for my only 15 meter contact. Had a very nice chat with Barry, K6RM, at the
end of the sprint on 40 meters, QRP the whole time, no problems. BTW, Barry heard about
the WES and dug out his J38 which he hadn't used in over ten years and jumped on in.
Great straight key fist!

Even though the bands were down a little from the last few weeks, things are definitely
getting better!

Very limited time this weekend so got on as time allowed. Heard some new ones and looks
like there was pretty good participation. Haven't been able to do many sprints this year
so it was great to play on the straight key again. Total time on was just under three
hours. Looks like Dan W9DLN is at it again! A fist of fire he is! Way to go OM. See ya'll

K9ZMD/6 Operated by: Gary, 891T from CA

The bands were better than I expected, allowing contacts with a great mix of new members
and old friends. Fun!

I finished hoisting my new 135' doublet with just minutes to spare before WES kickoff.
The good news: my remote tuner makes for very quick band changes. The bad news: there was
too little time to determine why the tuner balked at the 80 meter impedance (the very band
I wanted to gain by replacing the old 66' doublet).

Operating note: Even though participation is increasing, it is great to see how well our
members keep friendly spacing between "run" frequencies. The norm seemed to be about 500Hz
when the bands were busy, and a 400Hz filter was usually adequate to keep my pass band
comfortably quiet. However, a word to the wise; what needs a little work yet is zero
beating before replying to a CQ. It was surprising how often calls to an adjacent CQ'er
fell directly into my pass band. That means they had to be well over 300Hz off target.

Looking forward to the upcoming SKS. 73

I only got on for an hour. Heard nothing on 15. Signals on 20 were not strong.
40 was about the best. I need to get an antenna up for 80 meters. I think that will be my
summer ham radio project. I ran the Orion with my old speed-x key this time.

K4UFT Operated by: Ted, 4289C from SC

Ran 50 Watts from my FT-950 and felt like I was cheating! However, every station I
called I worked. Usually I run 20 Watts or less and get less than 100 percent return rate.
Four QSOs on 20M Sunday afternoon. Weak signals and lots of noise. As usual 40M yielded
the best results here in Upstate SC. Used Navy Flameproof key.

WA2OQJ Operated by: Jim, 5941 from NY

This was the first "contest" I have ever entered in my 27 years as a Ham...I had a blast! It
was a great learning experience for me...appreciate all the fantastic Skcc Ops,

until it was a good contact....I learned alot and will be ready for next months WES!

W7DRA Operated by: Mike, 1891 from WA

17 stations is a personal best for me, sorry to the guys on 20m the drift, it came from
not letting my ARC5 VFO sit for an hour to warm up, and the ratty signal on 80m comes
from improper neutralization of the two 805s in the PA

otherwise a good time was had by all!!

anybody ever use 160 meters for WES?

This WES was great fun again. I left the rig on and kept going in to listen. There was

K6CSL Operated by: Bert, 4486 from CA

This was fun. I added it to my activity in JIDX and successful pursuit of T32SI, and
unsuccessful pursuit of YI9PSE. (I heard them on 3 bands and was unable to break their
pile-ups with my "invisible" antennas). I did work W1WLV, Lee in TX. I answered his
general, very slow, CQ. I was his 1st ever CW QSO. I told him about SKCC and hopefully he
will look us up on the web. 73's to all and I'll try to be there for the next WES. Bert,

Very little time to work WES. Did manage a couple of hours. Enjoyed little time I had to
play radio.

VE3CWU Operated by: Bob, 5133T from ON

Great SKCC Weekend Sprint. Started off Saturday evening on 40m, worked that for about 3-1/2
hours then went to 80m for a couple more hours. ( 5 total Saturday night) . Started off
Sunday at 14:30z and worked that band exclusively until about 20:00z ( 6 hours). Had a game
plan to do "running" on this WES and did not divert much except for the last 1/2 or so hour
that I worked the contest. Had a few non members to log QSOs and told them about SKCC and
directed them to our website. Operated my legal limit of 250 watts. Extreme fun. Thanks once
more to the SKCC Admins and to all the SKCC members. 73, Bob, VE3CWU

KQ1P Operated by: John, 5068 from ME

Conditions were poor in general and 40M was the only reliable band for me. Signals were weak, that is a bad sign for
running QRP where I expect to be down 2 or 3 S-units. That being said, it was still a fun WES.

GØRDO Operated by: John, 2133T from England

Many thanks to VE3HNE/Walt, K2XS/Terry, UU1CC/Andy, N2JNZ/George, W2LG/Len and W9RG/Rich

I really enjoy the more relaxed atmosphere and spirit of friendly helpfulness of the WES. I also appreciate the fact that I
don't have to copy 30wpm in order to participate! I like that I can ask for QRS or a repeat without embarassment. I only
had time for a few contacts, but it was a fun event. It was a good experience, and I got a couple of new states!

Had great fun on the WES as usual, the bands were not to bad but the qsb sure was wicked
at times, but had my best score this time. Worked G0RDO/John and F6HKA/Bert on 20 meters.
I really enjoy reading all the soapbox comments, this time I must comment on N2AUR/QRP

And thanks to Dick K2RFP for all his great work. 73 Walt

Had fun in the SKCC Weekend Sprint. Used a 30+ year old Ten-Tec Argonaut 509 at about 2 watts.
The antenna was a 100m circumference horizontal loop on 40m and 20m, and a vertical dipole on
15m. My key was a J-37. Hope to hear more activity on 15m and 10m soon!

UU1CC Operated by: Andy, 3072C from Ukraine

It was a great pleasure to meet my old friends after delay as well as to make some new
contacts. Started on 40m at 3:00 AM local time, made 17 QSO's before the sunrise. Next run
been on 20m since 20:00 PM local time, there was power failure, so I managed to use
gasoline generator to feed my amplifier.

Got 8 DX countries on 4 continents, 13 states (WV at very last, TNX to Dave W3NP).
Several contacts on both 20m and 40m bands: Bill NT9K, Pete W1PNS and Julio NP3CW.

p.s. I filled all Marconi's letters and digits but "M", "M" and one "O". Except MOM :)

Another "WES" in the books. Many thanks to all for the Q's and especially to
Andy, UU1CC for special station. I could hear Andy but band conditions didn't
work for me. TU Andy for being there.
Bert F6HKA's 20M & Walt LW3EX's 15M signal's were marginal which tells me band
conditions were down compared to past events.
Welcome to the new members that participated, I look forward to seeing you on future
events. I am also pleased to see the numbers from Missouri increase, hope to see
some of you at the Shrine Ham fest in K.C. next weekend. 73/72 es TU Rick

Lots of fun again. Thanks to those who pulled my 5W out, particularly N8JIW. Mostly 20M
with lots of QSB. Higher bands didn't seem to be open here. Highest SKCC number worked
6672, good to see the newcomers jumping in. I didn't have a contact with the letter O in
the call sign.

This is my first participation on the SKCC WES event.Worked 4 bands.
Made 57 QSO's with one dupe with UU1CC Andy.
Only about 6 hours of total time worked.More active band for me was 15 meters.
I am looking forward to work many members to get my Centurion Certificate.
It was fun to work 25 states and 5 DX stations.

Not a very good propagation conditions during this WES.
The real blackout on some bands did not help my 50 watts and the GP antenna, hi !
But it was a pleasure to have a participation, even less than expected.
Two more numbers for my future "T" level, now 38 !
Thanks to the K3UK page, I made a very nice ten meters QSO with LW3EX,
the only signal heard on this band.
Hope to be there for the next WES !

pursued me to showcase his latest QRM signal! But I finally lost him after the fifth QSY
hi hi! Amazing fun!

W3NP Operated by: Dave, 3182T from WV

After having just gotten my "new" Vibroplex Champion bug this past week, and not having
used a bug since the early 70's, I was a bit reluctant to turn it (the bug) loose all
alone for the sprint, but I did and ended up using it for all 119 Q's. I felt pretty
confident with it by the end of the event and it was much easier on my wrist than the
variety of SK's I normally employ. I did add an extra weight.
I didn't think conditions were as good this weekend and other than Saturday evening on
40, it didn't seem like there was quite as much activity.
It was good to work Bert F6HKA on 80 as well as 20, and I was glad to snag Andy UU1CC on
20. As usual, a first class group of operators and I really enjoyed it. Now, I need to
learn to use the sprint-logger while I operate and not have to input it all at the end.

Thanks again to all the good ears out there receiving my qrp 5 watts. Had a struggle with
cq's so it was mostly S&P all day. It is nice to do some casual contesting for a few
hours, weather was too nice to stay inside all day. Thanks to George N2AUR, I may have
been a bit generous with that 559, but you were a solid copy, Gary K9ZMD gave me a few
bands rather well and I seem to find Randy KB4QQJ at the end twice. Lots of fun and
enjoyed it allot. Werner N8BB

Great WES. Did not get much air time but got 5 out of 6 on my new SW40 at 2 watts. Thanks
for the guys who have the ears to hear me. I love this hobby. CU all later.

Wish I had more time. I enjoyed it although I didn't have a chance to make more contacts.
Looking forward to the next sprint.

NT9K Operated by: Bill, 1926T from FL

I did a little better this time. My efforts in the past few sprints has been pretty poor.
I was determined to try a little harder this time. I'm not sure, but I think I worked 6
new SKCC club keys. I worked Andy UU1CC right off the bat and was lucky enough to find him
again on another band. Lots of great fists heard this month! It's so cool, to be able to
hear our members getting better and better each month. It's hard to try to pick a best
fist this time. Toss up, between Walt LW3EX and Randy KB4QQJ. Walt was making his
sideswiper sing, but Randy was cooking right along? I think the best QSO was with Rick
N4RE, but I got a good laugh out of Adam N0SSS too. All the contacts are great and lots of
fun. I didn't even come close to having all the letters in Buglielmo Marconi April 25 1874.
Until next time, 73. Bill NT9K..

She needs a name?

As usual, not a lot of operating time.

K2RFP Operated by: Dick, 2099T from NY

On April 3, 2010 I visited the Marconi/RCA transmitter station at Bolinas, CA and the
receiver station in Point Reyes, CA.
I also met up wth Ed Jacobson, W1EJ for an eyeball QSO. Bill Ruck gave us a very
informative tour of the transmitter facility and
Dick Dillman did the same for us at the receiver station. As a member of the Radio
Central ARC I look forward to working
K6KPH during International Marconi Day, April 24.

K9FO Operated by: Will, 5811 from IL

Only worked a few but a fun WES.

KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy, 3508T from NC

A short sprint for me but a fun one none the less. I only got to play a couple hours.
Bands were puny and very quite. I can't believe I couldn't hear much of the contests. That
is a sure sign the bands were down. No contacts on 80 and just a few on 20. Very slow,
then...bang!! last 45 minutes on 40 were one behind the other!! Thanks to the regular DX
crew. It's always a pleasure. F6HKA, F5DE, LW3DX and a several new Canadian contacts!!
whoo hoo,,working on my Maple Leaf Award. That is turning out to be a tough one. Strongest
signal was KA1XC, John. A very heavy 40 over!! for the second time I found Werner, N8BB in
the final seconds. Bill, NT9K was a squeak in also.. heh heh
And for the want of two "R's" I would have finished the bonus points complete. Bummer,
couldn't find K2RFP or N4RE anywhere.. Great time and thanks to all. See you next time.

Band conditions not the best when I first got on Sunday morning. They did seem to improve
later in the day and right at the end. Thanks to all for the contacts.

T'was my first WES as a "T", it felt good to sign that with the SKCC number :^).
Real nice turn out on the bands, only missed 2 or 3 letters from the Marconi message.
Happy birthday Guglielmo!

Wow!, that gardening stuff sure takes a lot of time. I want ten and fifteen back. OK,
those are my tears this month and I'm sticking to them. As usual I had a good time during
the sprint. Hope to hear all of you, (and more) next month.
