KØLWV Operated by: Larry, 3571 from MO

I stopped early to watch the Olympics on T.V. just so many things going on in one day.

KA5TJS Operated by: Allen, 5172C from TX

Great WES. I have an SW40 on order but it has not shipped yet so I decided to give QRP a
try with the 746. Hay, you really can make contact with 5 watts! Had a lot of fun and had
some great contacts. Some new numbers out there and great to work them. Maybe by the next
WES I will have the SW40 up and working and we will see how that works out.

73's Allen

VA3TSK Operated by: Greg, 4521 from ON

Great fun. Worked using my IC703 with Nye Viking Master Key. I had my station running on
battery, including an LED lighting strip overhead (practicing for Field Day!).

VK4TJ Operated by: John, 4474T from Australia

Probably my best score ever, despite no takers for the all night house party on 40
mtrs. WES keeners, you have nothing to fear about me taking over first place :-)

WØSZV Operated by: Eldon, 4999T from MO

worked some early and then got in on last 6 hrs. had a good time worked 40m & 80m most of
the time/ looking forward to next month

N6CMF Operated by: Phil, 2740T from CA

Again, much fun! Acivity seemed lighter.

KH6OZ Operated by: George, 3975T from MT

Tnx for the QSOs 73s
George

WA2JSG Operated by: Curt, 3018T from NJ

Nice sprint, as always. Only could spend a short time, but managed to work Bert on 2 bands.
Kenwood TS440SAT, abt 50 watts to an elevated Butternut vertical, English Kent Key.

WA2JSG

W4CUX Operated by: Bill, 5497 from GA

Great Sprint. I was not able to play all weekend, but worked stations last night and most
of this afternoon. Worked a lot of new contacts, and picked up six new skcc states.
Looking forward to the next event.

73,
Bill

AB1BW Operated by: George, 2468T from CT

This turned out to be one of my best sprints. I worked Bert twice along with some of the
other DX stations and even ran a frequency for a short while. If I could only type
faster I'd have better scores. Never the less, I had a great time. It was nice to see
all of the activity on the bands. Thanks to all and 73, George

KC6ZZT Operated by: Joe, 3647 from CA

Time only for one contact--St Valentine's doesn't do CW ;-)

But the one QSO sure was worth it! Finally snagged LW3EX in Argentina. Tnx Walt!

WL7WH Operated by: Bob, 2940T from AK

Another great event and the band opened up so was better for me. Thanks to all who
participated!!!!!!!!!!

N2AUR Operated by: George, 5841C from NJ

My wife was home for Valentines Day. I couldn't really ignore her for WES - but I tried! LOL
Fun contest again.

NV9X Operated by: Jim, 1358C from IL

Thanks to all my contacts. Finally earned my T. Thanks to F6HKA fer 2 bands. Worked 80, 40,
20 and 15 during WES. Bands were gud. Figured out how to get around the RTTY take over.
Thanks to SKCC. I have more fun with WES, than major contests.

WA1AR Operated by: Alan, 4079T from MA

Sunspots helped a lot with the multipliers during the day. At the end 80M and 40 M were
noisy and long, maybe even one way, East to West rather than West to East. I had a
string of weak hard to copy west coast stations. Eventually pulled in K0GM, AC7T and
N6DIT but it was not easy, the noise was persistant. Sorry to the F5... on 80M, I never
could pull out any more, the QRN chopped you up. All in all 1 hour of bad propagation is
not bad. The afternoon was FB.

Alan

N9QU Operated by: Leo, 3464T from WI

Heard many stations I could not work, but conditions seem to be improving. Lots of fun
as usual. Thanks to all

NE5DL Operated by: Dave, 5081T from TX

Operated QRP this month. K3 5W, worked F6HKA and WL7WH. Exchanged 1 WCC number, was a fun WES.

W5ALT Operated by: Walt, 103T from TX

This was a real fun WES! The bands cooperated and there were lots of stations
participating. I missed a few hours, but had fun anyway!

W9DLN Operated by: Dan, 3635T from WI

Even though I have a problem with the antenna or feedline it worked good enough to have a
lot fun. Plenty of mults out there. Thanks everyone for a great time. Special thanks
to K2RFP and K3UK as always. Couldn't do this without you guys. 73, GL, CU next month...

K6JF Operated by: Jim, 4261T from CA

Not much to show for all the time spent in this WES. Band conditions not so good, weak
sigs. Hope for a better showing in March with the sun becoming active.

WB8ENE Operated by: Art, 3773 from OH

Band conditions were pretty good this weekend. I picked up 11 new numbers towards
my "C", and had a couple of good rag chews in the process. See you in the next sprint.
73, Art WB8ENE

K5ENA Operated by: John, 3045T from OK

Enjoyed contacts on 40 and 20.

73,
John, K5ENA

N5RDN Operated by: Rob, 406 from TX

The bands were in good shape here...had a lot of fun. I think this is my second try in the
WES. Thanks to all who put up with me. 73, Rob//N5RDN

NT7S Operated by: Jason, 361C from OR

This was my first WES in quite a long time. Band condx were great on the higher bands,
which helped my QRP signal quite a bit. The highlight of the WES was working Bert F6HKA!
Thanks for a fun event!

WA1VIL Operated by: Greg, 443T from MA

Maybe not my best score but the BEST SPRINT EVER! Most fun and lots of new calls to work!
Ten meters is back-thanks Walt LW3EX! QSO to be had on 80-6 meters (well sort of-K1PUB and
W1PNS on 6 meters were sort of shooting fish in a barrel). Bert sounded like he was next
door whenever he showed up! The bands did get a bit funny-K2RFP and AF40 just sort of
vaporized in mid-QSO-sorry guys (although maybe the XYL figured out how to make RFI given
it was Valentine's day and I was spending waaay too much time in the mancave!). In any
case-great fun-thanks for all the QSO's, 73 and very much looking forward to the next sprint!

WB5NPW Operated by: Jesse, 5633 from Arabi, La

Fun weekend with the WES, WPX-RTTY, and LA QSO Party. As always, I enjoy the slower,
friendly, pace of the SKCC contest.

N2JNZ Operated by: George, 2836T from NY

Had a good score considering little time on Sunday !! Conditions on the upper bands like
old days !! Had a great time !! many thanks to all who called !! Kenwood TS 930s , 100
watts to a ZeroFive 40 meter vertical and key a Vizkey 90 degree Bug

K1ULF Operated by: Ulf, 3689C from CT

Fun to be back! Need to work on my T now :-) Got a few of them in the sprint. Amazing signal
from F6HKA. Probably one of the strongest in the whole sprint! (maybe Randy topped it... I
thought he was a QRP'er... did he buy a linear for christmas...)

KØLUW Operated by: Russ, 1702T from NE

A great sprint except for the RTTY Contest. Band conditions were good and no thunder
storms to contend with. Lots of fun.

W1WBB Operated by: Bill, 6399 from RI

With the XYL and kids out I had plenty of time to play radio on Sunday so made the most
of it during my first SKCC WES. Worked 27 states, 3 Canadian provinces and 8 DX mults
(G,F,ON,HB9,LU,EA,I, and DL): 38 total, including 3 new U. S. mults in last 6 QSOs on 80m.

Fun to have 15m open... and EU on 20m was strong Sunday, esp. our F6HKA, Special SKCC
Member station! Many thanks to ALL for the QSOs... 73, Bill W1WBB

W1EJ Operated by: Ed, 1594T from CA

Only had a little time at the start and a little today but 15M was open. There is hope
for the higher bands!

WS9E Operated by: Joe, 3859 from WI

I didn't operate much. The bands seemed pretty good here in the midwest. Heard quite a
bit of stateside activity, often with a layer of copyable DX stations underneath. Maybe
the bands are coming back.
Dennis, N6DIT had a monster signal on 15 Mtrs. I hope he didn't damage the old Omni V's
front end... Lots of strong signals on 20 and 40 Mtrs.
I enjoy the friendly relaxed ops in these SKCC events.
Joe WS9E

K4UFT Operated by: Ted, 4289C from SC

FT-950 20 Watts to Home-brew Vertical. Navy FP key.

Surprised at band conditions here in Upstate SC ... 15 and 20 open on Sunday. Worked Bert
on 15 and 20 for extra points. Also worked EA1EVA and WL7WH on 20. First sprint
using "new" Navy FP key ... very smooth.

WA5VQM Operated by: Mark, 58 from TX

I had a ball on this one! Did well even with my casual S&P. You know it's fun when you
have more contacts on 15 than 20! Thanks to many including Bert F6HKA and Walt LW3EX for
digging me out of the noise. Enjoyed chatting with WB7NZI (#6316) on his first sprint.
Apologies to W9IXV - the QSB just took you away. Variable condx, but it seemed to add to
the fun. 73 Mark (who really needs to turn in that long-overdue "C" paperwork)

W3RT Operated by: Red, 3237T from PA

Again, a very good WES. Bands were decent, but opertating time limited. Good to work
Bert (F6HKA) on 3 bands. Looking forward to the next SKCC operating event.

73, Red, W3RT- SKCC 3237T in PA

VA5LF Operated by: Sean, 4507 from SK

Only had an hour after making my goal in the CQWPX RTTY contest, but I made the best of
it. Too bad the WES had to coincide with one of my favourite major contests. ( And yes, I
am one of those. I do my best to keep out of the way of CW ops though. Not all RTTY ops
are deaf. )

W7GVE Operated by: Ed, 729T from AZ

Missed a lot due to out of town visitors, but enjoyed myself Ed

KE7YTE Operated by: Tom, 6447 from AZ

My first contest and what a blast. It's a pleasure to be with such nice people. See you
next time.

NØUYN Operated by: Dennis, 5753 from MO

Good band conditions and lots of stations. My first 160 meter contact ever (tnx Rick
K0KEX) and first 15 meter CW contact (tnx Dennis W6UT). Heard Bert F6HKA and Javi EA1EVA,
but couldn't get through--maybe next time.

KD8JHJ Operated by: Mike, 4877 from OH

Great Weekend sprint. Decided to try QRP for WES. MFJ 9040 5 watts to end fed half wave
wire up 30 feet. Worked 5 members and two non-members. Thanks for the contacts.

KD8JHJ/qrp

K4CQW Operated by: Quint, 4347C from VA

Enjoyed it; especially working LW3EX on 10 mtrs!

WAØBGV Operated by: Slim, 5465C from MO

Great fun.

K4BAI Operated by: John, 3280 from GA

FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, TH6DXX, dipole, zepp, inverted vee. Thanks for all QSOs.
Participation seemed to be down this month. Maybe everyone else was watching the
Olympics. Great to work DX members: EA1EVA (3 bands), F6HKA (2 bands), F5DE, IK2RMZ,
F5MPN, WL7WH. Just missed a QSO to count with IN3EBZ as I couldn't copy his name and
NR. Nice to work VX7MID using the Olympic prefix. Hope to work you all next month.
73, John, K4BAI, SKCC #3280.

KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy, 3508T from NC

That was great!!
No Ulf, no linear. LOL But I did operate at 100w for the first time.
I operated from my club house using a tri bander at 55 ft and a G5RV at 50 feet. The tri
bander paid off for the west coast stations on 20 meters and the G5RV worked all the DX.
Thanks Bert for multiple bands, great job as the club station. Also thanks to Walt, LW3EX,
and Bernard F5DE for three bands each. Great to work 5 DX countries in a WES, conditions
are getting better every month. Strongest station was Jim, KK7YJ in MO. At 40 over I think
he enlisted the park buffalo for a little help!!
Some how I missed Dick, K2RFP and Bill NT9K. The most fun was hearing my old friend Ulf,
K1ULF back on the air. It's been a while and I hope you are back for a spell. Thanks to
all who participated and special thanks to Dick, K2RFP for the WES and the software that
makes it so easy.

W5KDM Operated by: Noel, 4812 from MS

I observed my 50th anniversary of being a Ham this past week. This was a such an
enjoyable way to celebrate it.

W6UT Operated by: Dennis, 2417T from CA

Was great to see 15M open. I had 20 Qs there. Even 4 Qs on 12M even though it doesn't
count on WES. Only LW3EX on 10M. 40/80 were good last night. Had to shorten my time
today due to family gathering.

K1NV Operated by: Jon, 2609T from NV

I didn't have much time for the WES, but managed to get on for a couple of hours on
Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Four bands were used for contacts with SKCC members:
80M, 40M, 20M, and 15M. Nothing was heard on 10M. The most productive band was 80M with
10 QSO's. 40M was a mass of digital crud which seems to get worse as time passes. I'm
glad their activity level is rising, but I wish they'd leave us a little room for CW. A
couple of QSO's were made above 7.1 MHz. which seemed relatively quiet.

LW3EX, Walt, was worked with good signals on 15M and Bob, WL7WH was booming in on 20M. I
was pleased to work W1WBB (RI), W3NP (WV), and KD5JHE (MS) which are rare ones for me in
SKCC events. Thanks, guys! See you for the 2-hour Sprint.

WØYZZ Operated by: Dave, 5519 from MO

My first WES what fun. I'm looking forward to the next one.

N5LUL Operated by: Brad, 3779C from TX

Got wrapped up watching Daytona 500. Break in action, so went to the radio room... found
F6HKA on 14046.0 ... Thanks Bert!

K9ZMD/6 Operated by: Gary, 891T from CA

Bands were cooperative, which made for loads of fun in spite of wall-to-wall RTTY early
on; absolutely a blast once they disappeared. It was especially great to hear so many
6000+ numbers out there; stay with us folks, the fun is just beginning.

Worked F6HKA before I even knew he was the special station. His 20 meter signal was 579
in SoCal for most of the daylight hours. Way to go, Bert.

Stats are interesting, sometimes. One stat I've noticed is the cumulative NM
participation (in SKS and WES alike) over the past year has been . . . one. So, if
anyone needs NM for SKCC WAS (or whatever), K9ZMD will be K9ZMD/5 at Ruidoso, NM, from 19-
26 Feb 2010. The antenna will cover 40-10 meters, but unknown yet if it will be outside
or just heating the condo walls. BCNU for SKS and whatever else (???) might chance to
take place that week. 73

NT9K Operated by: Bill, 1926T from FL

I missed out again. Only worked a few contacts early Sunday morning. I wasn't feeling well
and couldn't copy very well due to terrible sinus headache. You would have a headache too,
if your head looked like mine. I did get to work Bert F6HKA. Bert was very strong, as
usual and a pleasure to copy. I hated missing out on all the fun, especially with the
higher bands open. Maybe next time, I will be able to join in again.
Until next time, 73. Bill NT9K..

KØKEX Operated by: Rick, 5220T from MO

Thanks to all for the great QSO's this weekend. Thanks to Special event station Bert,
F6HKA and his great signal I was able to work him on 80, 20, & 15. IK2RMZ & LW3EX also
good on 15M & EA1EVA on 20M. Congratulations to the new members that were active this
weekend.
160M was good for a few QSO's, one with Dennis N0UYN was especially good, it was his first
160 QSO. 10M was checked several times with no joy. Many thanks to Andy for the K3UK site,
That is a great tool for locating members. Also had some non-member QSO's that were
invited to visit the SKCCGROUP sight..Just another great "WES" weekend.
73 to all with my thanks
Rick

K3NCO Operated by: Marc, 6144 from MD

Second WES. Actually worked someone on 10 m (as well as 15, 20, 40, and 80) this time.
Got to spend more time at the WES this time, but sure need to get the fist in shape to
handle all that time. This time I used the K2RFP logging program, but installing it 10
minutes before the WES is not the thing to do. I'd bet I spent the first hour getting
things straightened out (I was hand logging and running the program at the same time the
first hour). Finally got everything set up correctly about an hour after WES ended.
Still trying to figure out how to hand score it. Correction - I was doing it right
manually, you have to watch what the program does - Ooooops!

N4KGL Operated by: Greg, 5123T from FL

This was fun all 20 meter contacks with Wilderness SST at 2 watts. I was hooked to a 135
foot doublet.

N4KGL Lap Shack for Wilderness SST-20

W3NP Operated by: Dave, 3182C from WV

This was the first WES that I had more than a few minutes to operate and it sure was a lot
of fun - I do not like contests but this was a nice slow paced friendly operating event. I
usually use vintage gear, but I had just received my new (to me) Ten Tec Omni 6 Plus the
day before and the sprint let me give it a real workout and a chance to learn how to use
it. Looking forward to the next one.

EA1EVA Operated by: Javi, 5871C from Spain

My first WES, great fun. Worked using my restored english key and TS-850S + TL-922
(abt 400w).The first time little fishing, the best 20m.band.If I obtain my Tribune
graduation I can to offer my T letter in the next SKC hi hi .Vy great to work Bert F6HKA
France is near Spain,to be lucky.73 Javi

F6HKA Operated by: Bert, 6069T from France

Many thanks everybody for this very nice WES. I think I am going to purchase a sideswiper
key. Using stright key from 0500z till 2300z is tiring. Great activity on 15m.
See you in the next WES.

KQ1P Operated by: John, 5068 from ME

Conditions were quite good on 40M and 80M. I discovered that I was running QRPp by
accident for the first few hours, no wonder I had such a hard time making contacts!
Several new SKCC members were worked along with many regulars. Thanks to all and 73.

WB5JWI Operated by: Les, 5013T from TX

What a WES. High voltage pwr supply went on Kenwood, so used Alinco for whole WES.
Vertical ant stopped loading so only dipole. Only 6 QSOs first 6 hrs. Got 17 in the 4
hours on Sunday and then 2 more in the last 15 minutes. Wild ride but I picked up some
new countries and a personal best for the WES. Almost didn't op at all - glad I did. I
suspect there will be a bunch of new C es T out there to work!
A special thanks to Bert for the outstanding job as the Event Station. He got me on 2
bands; tnx OM, excellent job.
15 mtrs was hot Sunday. With the Sun getting active, don't forget to check the upper bands!

AC2C Operated by: Ron, 2748T from MD

Good conditions. Chinese New Year preparations interrupted most of my operating
opportunities.

KG4W Operated by: Ed, 2416T from VA

Started around mid day Sunday. Ran with 200 watts. All qsos were on 20 & 40 except the
last one which was on 80 & 1 with LW3EX on 15. The tweedle d de of RTTY kept me high in
the band on 40. DX worked was EA,LU,ZS,VK,9A & F, supprised to be called by ZS6JBJ (John
3808) & VK4TJ (John 4474T) back to back on 20. Haven't been on in awhile & enjoyed it
very much. See everyone subsequently (if not sooner)in the meantime I'll be watching de
snow melt.

AC7T Operated by: Doug, 5368T from WA

I enjoyed this WES even more than usual—band conditions here were quite good here most of
Sunday. I logged a nice mix of new and veteran members, and even worked a couple of DX
stations. What a fun time!

W5ESE Operated by: Scott, 688 from TX

Had a lot of fun in the February WES. Made most of my contacts between
7100-7125 KHz. Used an Ameco AM-K4; my Novice key from 1975. 73 -Scott

VE3HNE Operated by: Walt, 4893T from ON

This was the first WES I worked for some time, band condx were good so I worked
80,40,20,and 15 This was the best WES, I worked F6HKA Bert,IK2RMZ Martin,and EA1EVA Javi
There were a few weak stations that I lost in the qrm, but I sure had a lot of fun.
Thanks to all the stations that I worked I had my best score this time.
Thanks to all those who look after the contests, we all like to work.

KØIVK Operated by: Joe, 1436T from MO

Enjoyed having 15M open so well for this WES.
40M was a complete washout because of the RTTY contest.
I Worked Bert on 2 bands. He always has a potent signal.

K2RFP Operated by: Dick, 2099T from NY

Four countries on 3 watts without really trying.
Good conditions and luck played a role.
73 'til next time.

Here's a QSL card I created with my freeware QSL cardmaker program.

AE4LD Operated by: Larry, 3090T from NC

Didn't get a chance to get on that much, but another great time none the less. Looking
toward next month already. 73 to all Larry

F5DE Operated by: Bernard, 6247 from France

In spite of being QRL, it was very nice to have my second participation in a WES event.
28 MHz = 1 QSO + 21 MHz = 7 QSO + 14 MHz = 11 QSO + 7 MHz = 6 QSO + 3.5 MHz = 4 QSO
for a total of 29 QSO.
Unfortunately 7 MHz was plenty of RTTY activity and we are not allowed to go above 7.100
MHz in France yet. I heard many US stations around 7.114 MHz.
QSO F6HKA on 5 bands (Bert is living at 100 km from my QTH), W1PNS and KB4QQJ on 3 bands.
I contacted 11 new SKCC numbers for my future upgrade to "Centurion", missing 9 more to
become a "C" !
The key used here was a 1976 Vibroplex bug model "Champion", it is really a delight to
use it.
Hope to be active next month, 73 QRO everybody and hope to meet you soon on the bands for
exchanging our numbers !

N8BB Operated by: Werner, 5433T from MI

Had a very nice time. Bands were pretty decent but not outstanding on 10-20 meters. Most
of my activity was 40 and 80 where the qrp seemed to shine. Many very nice compliments on
the qrp station and it paid off in some nice contacts and even a few qso's. Once again the
credit goes out the great ears we have and some of the best brass pounders that I am very
happy to associate with.
Werner N8BB 5433T

KA1XC Operated by: John, 5188C from MA

There was little time to operate this WES but I got on at the end for a a couple QSO's.
Worked Ed W7GVE on 20M then Bernard F5DE on 80M, that was cool. 73!

AF2Z Operated by: Drew, 2082T from NJ

Bands sounded good. I think all the snow on the ground helped my signal to get out. Fun as
always!

Just a few...but always fun. Rig= K3 @ 5watts, Ant=EDZ @ 55 ft.

K1PUB Operated by: Chas, 4101T from MA

Between the Olympics, family obligations, and residual "K3Y burnout" I got in very little
operating time. But I enjoyed the 12 QSOs I made.

KCØJBU Operated by: Kevin, 2857 from CO

Tough band conditions today, but still great fun with a homebrew rig.
