K8JD Operated by: John

Just had an hour and a half to sit own at the rig.
All but one of my QSOs were on 80, one on 40M. A few times I had a pile up calling me, WOW !
Had to concentrate on getting the house ready for a big family dinner here on Easter Sunday!

KA5TJS Operated by: Allen

Enjoyed it very much. Did better this time but had to shut down twice. Seems when you have one of these I have thunderstorms. QRN was S9 +20 sometimes. Looking forward to next month. 73's

N8ZYA Operated by: John

I enjoyed today (despite a low number of contacts) My first "easter morning" contact was at 1229z (K1NNJ)which surprised me 'cause the SK WES slipped up on me.

I didn't realise today was the day.

Afterwards, I was Off for most of the day, but returned around 1500z for another contact. Off again but back around 2100z.

Highlight of the day was working KC0EEP (#4894C) at 2220z. We talked a few weeks ago and she called ME on the 7055 freq. I was surprised she heard my QRP station here in WV from MO. (Great ears).

Lots of fun....regardless of the points. I loved hearing the "straight keys today!

NV9X Operated by: Jim

Still fun on a holiday weekend.

K9QH Operated by: Mike

I've been a member for awhile and this is the first event I've tried. Had a ball and will be more active. 73's Mike

WA1AR Operated by: Alan

Diffrent WES for me this time because of the Holiday, stayed up past my bed time on Saturday then up early Sunday before the activity started. Came back and finished up with the last half hour.

W3RT Operated by: Red

I think I did my best score ever! Nice format, Dick! The bands were favorable here in PA. Used the '940 at 85 watts to a sloper, and only the Flameproof key for this event.
Thanks to all that I worked. Happpy Easter to all. l look forward to the next event!

73, Red W3RT in PA, SKCC #3237T

K2ZC Operated by: Dave

Lots of fun, as always. Getting closer to my T. Tnx for the contacts.

KC2KY Operated by: Neil

Thanks to all for making it another enjoyable sprint. The new K-3 got a good workout today.

KC2KY's new K-3 (Built March 21/22, 2009) No time to tidy up the shack |:-)

WA2JSG Operated by: Curt

Nice sprint, as always. Some scores may be down because of the holiday.

K5ENA Operated by: John

Flaky band conditions and lots of QSB, but still a lot of fun. Always enjoy the Sprints.

John, K5ENA

N5LUL Operated by: Brad

Thanks to all for the contacts this weekend. And a special thanks to those who put me over the 100 mark! Maybe next month I'll be 3779C! See you next month. I'll have to try this antenna thing out next time. Sounds like it will be fun.

K6CSL Operated by: Bert

This is an event I'm really starting to look forward to every month. It's not as tight and pressured of other contests I operate. The conditions are still pretty rough. We could sure use some solar activity. I ran this concurrent with the GA QSO Party, JIDX CW, and Yuri Gagarin Contest, which was really poorly attended. TNX to the SKCC Ops I worked. Bert, K6CSL

K4DMU Operated by: Joe

Lots of fun, even though the bands didn't co-operate.

Never could hear Rob, G4LMW on any band. Hope someone got to work him.

What a bunch of friendly, polite operators. Makes me proud to be associated with this group.

Special thanks to Milt, K4OSO for giving me the last two "Marconi letters" I needed. See you all next time. 73 and thanks very much for a great event.

K4UPG Operated by: Kelly

Only bagged one qso on 20m but had a great time reading the mail and practicing my very rusty cw. Lots of good fists to copy at a speed that was just right for me! Heard lots of pileups but my lil qrp rig didn't quite break thru for some of you when I tried to answer your CQ SKS calls. Tried 40m but QRN was bad at times and didn't seem anyone could hear me although I was getting nailed by S9 signals from K1NNJ, W4HAY, WA3SLN and WA1LWS although some QSB rolled thru from time to time. I did hear G4LMW at one point, but QSB made it impossible to connect.

I look forward to future events... this was just what I needed. Tnx for the opportunity for new members to get our feet wet.

K1PUB Operated by: Chas

Had only about 7 hours to operate due to family and Easter commitments. But I enjoyed the time I was able to operate. Bands seemed pretty good except 40 and 80 were very noisy Saturday evening.

KL8DX Operated by: Phil

I didn't get started until Sunday morning but I managed two contacts overseas, one with G3ASG and with our honored WES participant, G4LMW. Lots of absorption with the solar wind buffeting the earth which made all contacts nearly impossible. There were some I had some good signals from the lower 48 but they were few and far between. I wrapped up the contest with my final MULT, Jim KK7YJ in Montana.

If I had not been under the weather, I probably would have found the band conditions not worthy of sticking it out and trying to recover from cabin fever by heading outdoors. 40 degrees and sunshine here this weekend.

Thanks for the contacts and it was great to work Rob. The Bonus points were fun, too. Only missed a few and I found it hard to believe, I never worked an "8" station!!

WB9TFH Operated by: Gil

Got on late Saturday, QRN on 80m. Easter Sunday worked the last 1.5 hrs. Maybe the next WES I'll be able to work more stations. Had a good time. TNX es 73 everyone.

K9ZMD/Ø Operated by: Gary

K9ZMD/0 operated QRP from Steamboat Springs, CO (DN60nl), with a 5 watt Index Labs QRP Plus & a dipole.

Fortune smiled - we were assigned a 5th (top) floor condo overlooking the roof of a 4 story annex building. The engineering chief readily approved putting a wire antenna on the annex roof, and his maintenance techs even assisted by climbing a ladder to fasten the dipole between the highest available tie points!!! The downside was a HV power line just 100 feet to the south of the dipole.

The high noise level and so-so conditions on 40 meters may have limited the contact count, but didn't diminish the fun. My sincere thanks to all who stayed with my peanut whistle signal long enough to complete 11 contacts in 10 different states. 73 'til next month.

Gary, K9ZMD

W4HDM Operated by: Damon

Fun Sprint. Mostly S&P on this WES. Easter took priority over this Sprint, so I did not get to operate as much as I would have liked, but conditions were good & I was able to work a few OPs.

Interesting theme this month - I worked all but 3 characters for the theme.

Station this time was my K2/100 with my KK-1 Kit Key, into an all band dipole at about 25 feet.

I'm looking forward to next month's WES!

K2 Twins for the April WES

NG5NG Operated by: Neil

Had a great time this WES. Everyone fought the bands with everything they had: RF power, experience, the K3UK sked, and determination. 40M completely dropped out Sat night, for everyone.

Fun to work lots of new 'C's.' This batch won't stay there long. All the usual T's were there along with some I hadn't met or worked before.

Phil, KL8DX was again booming into TX late into the day. Didn't get to work Rob, though I heard him several times. Not enough to qso. I hope he got enough for 'T?' If not, I'll keep trying.

Do what you enjoy, and enjoy what you do! Happy Easter.

Who Is John Galt?

K5EWJ Operated by: Cookie

80 and 40 were not very good on Saturday Night. I didn't work on Sunday morning. Not bad conditions on 20 Sunday afternoon and 40 was good after 2200Z

WIØS Operated by: Kieth

It was fun to participate again, this time QRPp at times. Thanks to the 13 stations that worked the tiny signal from the HW8. Used my old novice Speed-X straight key and a 1958 Vibroplex Original Bug. Static cashes kept me off of 80 meters. All q's were on the super SWBC free 7100 kHz part of 40 meters. K5ENA, N3MVX, N3JJT and WA1AR all had 599 signals. 72 cw4ever Kieth, wi0s 2048T

NT9K Operated by: Bill

Lots of participation this time. I had a good time. Thanks Rob G4LMW for 2 bands.
All my QSO's were on 20 and 40 meters. More than half of my 40 meter QSO's were in the old novice part of the band. Nice to hear all that activity and no BCI.
I didn't know until it was over that Pete was Russ as K0SWI. I should have guessed from the booming signal and FB fist.
Until next time,
73 Bill NT9K

I only used the Amplidan and my GHD bug for this sprint

KB3MOW Operated by: Dave

Late start, so knew I wouldn't be competitive, but a lot of fun!

W6UT Operated by: Dennis

Another fun time. Didn't have the time to work much Sunday morning. Easter at the kids. Mostly used 1914 Vibroplex Bug that I restored.

W2JEK Operated by: Don

my first entry in a skcc sprint. lots of fun. was a busy weekend with holiday activities. used my yaesu ft-840 at 5 watts qrp and wire antennas. key was my signal electric. looking forward to the next sprint. 73 don younger w2jek skcc #5279

K1NNJ Operated by: Tom

I enjoyed the sprint - It gave me a chance to test some new antennas and make some new SKCC contacts. I thought the bands were pretty good. The only problem was that Easter sort of got in the way.
73,
Tom K1NNJ

WA1VIL Operated by: Greg

Happy Easter or a Zissen Pesach as the case may be. Squeezed in a little time for this WES, just happy to pick up some new contacts toward Tribune status. Fun as always. My apologies to KA2KGP-I just couldn't pull you in through the noise on 40. 73 to all and see you next sprint!

VE3AKV Operated by: Bob

Hey there...

I made sure the hamsters were fed and straped into their wheel. This and a picture
of a rather large cat at the other end of the cage made them run rather well.
Result - 5w of QRP (Quite Respectable Power) with which to play with.

Even got to see an "albino moose" too.

Very interesting weekend sprint. Thanks for all the chuckles and QSO's.

Regards,

Bob

N4RE Operated by: Rick

There was a lot of QRN on 40 and 80 here. I enjoyed hearing all the unique fists and lots of new members.

K4UFT Operated by: Ted

40 good. 20 not so good. First sprint with my brand-new "C" suffix!

50 Watts from IC-706MKIIg to home-brew vertical. J-37 key.

K1NV Operated by: Jon

Oops! Forgot to add Marconi points.

K6FFY Operated by: Nick

Solar conditions here were dismal during the limited time I had to devote to the Sprint. It was still fun though as usual.

KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy

As always a fun sprint. Great job Rob,G4LMW. Bands were full of QRN and some echoing. It took 10 watts to reach Rob. Lot of new signals plus the regulars. Several new C's too.
Strongest signal was Bill, NT9K at 20 over.
Enjoyed looking for Mr Marconi too. Nice twist. Maybe Marconi's kite antenna will work for me in next months sprint...hmmmmm.
Great to hear Pete, W5PEH back on the air after his surgery.
Thanks to everybody! 73

GØRDO Operated by: John

Beautiful spring weather here so didn't get on the radio much. Very poor conditions, but did manage to work KC2KY/Neil, G4LMW/Rob, OH7UG/Timo, KA1XC/John and K1PUB/Chas.73 all.

My favourite key. A Marconi PS No213A.

G4LMW Operated by: Rob

I had a great time. The start was very disappointing. Stayed up til 2am local time and worked NO-ONE. However, Sunday was great. Almost had a pile-up on 20m from 1500-1700. Great to work Bill NT9K on 2 bands.

Also picked up Alaska (Phil - KL8DX) for a new DXCC for me. Other than that, generally worked East Coast with the exception of Cookie (K5EWJ) in TX.

Tom (K1NNJ) wins the G4LMW Easter Egg for working me on 3 bands (20/40/80). We tried topband but no path.

My thanks to all who worked me and some who tied but failed. It was a pleasure to be the "Special" call for this great Club.

And Thank You Dick (K2RFP) for organising the Sprints and for inviting me to be the "special" call. I only wish conditions had been a little better (and that it had not been Easter). Also a big thanks to my family for forgiving my absense and Easter Day.

Special Call G4LMW

KØLUW Operated by: Russ

Spent almost all of the sprint running K0SWI club call. Did make a few contacts including G4LMW at the end of the sprint. Kept me out of trouble for the weekend.

W5ZR Operated by: Bert

Could only put in two hours on Saturday because of Easter weekend duties.

The key shown is a Begali paddle that switches into a cootie - the switch is midway of the right side. I won this key at a recent ham gathering. I cannot send with it as a cootie yet....the key is winning this battle so far! Had to stick with my J-38 straight key this time.

A Begali model HST paddle/sideswiper key

AC7T Operated by: Doug

This was fun! I only made one contact on 20 meters though, which I guess demonstrated the inferiority of my antenna. Still, I’m already looking forward to the next sprint,

NE5DL Operated by: Dave

Worked 9 hours Sunday, K3@100W. No EU stations heard. Lots of fun.

KEØN Operated by: Eliot

This was my second sprint despite being a long time member. It was alot of fun, despite band conditions! Thanks K2RFP and K3UK for the sked pages! I was not able to work Rob but managed Phil, KL8DX. Watched W9DLN and K0SWI work their magic! Worked only one on three bands KC2KY. Valiant attempts by KB4QQJ on 15 and 10 but no luck. Managed all letters for the bonus.

Using the Yaesu FT 450 and J38 @ 40 watts to the Center Fed Zepp at 30', nice little rig would benefit from a tighter filter -

Will certainly be back for more!

There was a lot of noise and bad signal conditions but I still had a great time. Tnx everyone....73 Bill N0UMP

KU8L Operated by: Curt

40 and 80 were pretty strange on Saturday nite..20 was non existent for me most of the weekend. Worked until about 0530UTC and called it quits for the nite,,seemed like everyone was gone and my productivity dropped to zero. Was up again in the morning early and worked until about noon local time when I ahd to break again for family obligations--I came back on for the last hour and a half. 40 was very good for the last hour on Sunday although strange in prop.

All in all a good sprint. Non-holiday weekend would have produced more contacts but only if the bands improve some. Figures..today (monday) 20M seems to be hopping.

TU to all the stations I worked and I enjoyed the new T,

Curt

WS9E Operated by: Joe

This was my first sprint. I was on for 30 minutes. I managed to work five friendly SKCC members.
This was a fun event, handing out points to like minded cw enthusiasts. I heard good fists and skilled ops. I'll be back.

KD5JHE Operated by: Jerry

A bit more time to play in this WES. And still had to check out for a while due to a storm. Had lots of fun. tnx for all the qso's.73.

KL7GLL Operated by: Gene

Enjoyed being able to give out "L7GLL" that all counted toward the extra bonus points -- I could have used some of those myself!! Not much time to operate with family including grandkids home for the holidays, son to take back to college, etc. but tried to give out some points. Nice to hear good activity and numerous SKCC members new to me.

K2RFP Operated by: Dick

Thanks to all participants. Good job done by Rob.

N4KGL Operated by: Greg

The bands were not there for me on Sunday PM. Still my best score. Enjoyed it all. Thanks for a great event!

K6JF Operated by: Jim

Once again poor band conditions prevail here out West. 20m was the pits and 40m was not much better. Looking back it was foolish to spend so much time with the sprint (about 14 hours) with just 11 Q's to show for it.

Only high point was working a new state, K3MQ (DE). But it took about an hour of calling him before the timing was right with his up and down signal being up and no one else calling him. I also had a second new state N3MVX (PA), but due to QSB I could not confirm he QSL'ed my exchange.

KKØI Operated by: Jack

Busy Easter weekend...managed to make a few contacts. Tnx for those out there sticking it out.

W4KRN Operated by: Karen

Enjoyed the sprint, but not much time to devote to it due to Easter activities. NE5DL Dave and K1NV Jon had whopping signals on 20m. Hopefully, more play time for next WES.

KØKEX Operated by: Rick

From K0KEX, Rick in Platte county, Missouri
Another great Sprint, It was especially good to catch Rob on 20M, conditions were tough due to QRN from storms but Rob's Hex Beam did the job on his end. Thanks to the new members and numbers and to everyone for a nice event. It's great to see all the comments and pictures in the "Soapbox" a very nice feature...I used a Speed-X oval base key that I have mounted on an Oak base, also added a wooden knob and skirt which has worked for me.
p.s. I could hear K0SWI but couldn't work him, darn....
73's to everyone

K4OSO Operated by: Milt

Great fun! Operated only a few hours....part of that was portable on the 703 Plus. Nice to hear so many nice fists.

K4BAI Operated by: John

Time was limited by our GA QSO Party, but did try for QSOs in WES/SKS during our quiet period for the GQP and before church services. Hope for more time next month. 73, John, K4BAI.

W1LIC Operated by: Wes

Didn't have much time to participate. Maybe next time.

KD5MMM Operated by: Phil

Had fun, got a few new numbers.
73 all

N9VYT Operated by: Bill

This is my first attempt at submitting a WES score, so be patient if I screwed it up--SKCCers always seem to be. And if all else fails, blame Cookie--he talked me into submitting. 73, Bill 5194

N6WK Operated by: Gordon

Wish I could have operated more, Buy Easter weekend is tough due to family duties.
I'll see you all in the Next Sprint.

WU7R Operated by: Ci

Only spent a short time due to Easter...thanks

KK6AW Operated by: Kelsey

I had only a short time before I had to leave and visit the G'Kids.

W1EJ Operated by: Ed

I did forget the bonus for Marconi.

WBØQQT Operated by: Steve

My first SKCC Sprint and found it to be a lot of fun. Picked up the last few stations to get my "C" and added a few to the WAS list to boot. Should have done this a long time ago !! Thanks to all the participants for the contacts.

KB9MLE Operated by: Dave

Didn't get to contest long due to Easter Weekend. Try again next month.
