KW4JS Operated by: John

Loads of fun and worked AK with three watts on 20 thanks Phil. Thanks to everyone who worked me.

KKØI Operated by: Jack

Not much time to work WES this weekend...put in most of the QSOs during the last hour or so. Maybe next month. Still a good time and glad to be operating.
73s to all.

KB9MLE Operated by: Dave

TNX for all the stations that contacted me within the last 45 minutes of the contest. Glad I'm not hearing CQ NA...made 1 contact Saturday night. See you all next month.
73,
Dave

KØLUW Operated by: Russ

Noise levels here were very high. Had a family reunion which reduced my operating time. Looks like the guys had a lot of fun with the K3Y stations.

WA1AR Operated by: Alan

Started WES as K3Y/1. With 2 hours in the evening and 2 hours in the early morning. I was able to work 35 stations. Most exciting was W6UT who sent me and email to SKED 80 M so he could finish a sweep. Well at 7 AM east coast time, that’s 3 AM in California, we did it quite nicely with a little QSB. He was a little late, but that’s somewhat expected. Now I have been thinking about what that means to want to get up at 3 AM to work CW for a good 60 seconds. Ill leave that for Dennis to explain. Later in the day while watching football, I tried to track down KH6 and KL7, only spent a lot of time listening to static on 20 M that gave me even more time to ponder. Maybe I will figure it out after I complete my 12 sweep. Hum! Do I need to get up at 3 AM, maybe?
Alan WA1AR

N2UM Operated by: Gary

I wasn't too active this month but I did make a few QSOs with my new to me 1962 Vibroplex Presentation. It's fun!

NØJL Operated by: Jim

Around 1300z I could hear several station, but none seemed to hear me!

WA5VQM Operated by: Mark

Not much luck this time out. Lots of noise and poor band conditions. Who broke 20 meters? (LOL) Still, had some nice contacts. See ya' next time. 73

W4HDM Operated by: Damon

Conditions varied. I mostly called CQ on the "unlikely" bands. Some S&P. I worked ops from all over.

UK, Argentina, Alaska, CA, RI, TX, LA, AL, NY, MA, MI, NJ, Bands were 10m,15m,17m,20m,40m,80m,& 160m. K3Y= 1, 2, 4, 5, 8. I really enjoyed the unexpected call from Jeff/G4ELZ on 20m after failing to contact K3Y/4.

Looking forward to the next one!

Flu bug bit Saturday afternoon. Didn't feel much like playing radio this weekend. Hope to be back next WES.

AD5VC Operated by: Dana

Worked my own call and K3Y/5. Lots of folks on the air, but the bands were not as cooperative as they should have, with fast QSB.

K3Y/7 Operated by: George

I had a good time. Thanks for the QSOs

K4BAI Operated by: John

FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, Vibroplex Hand Key Deluxe. Thanks for the QSOs. Happy New Year to all. Exciting to work K3Y/KL7 on 20M and G4ELZ on 80M just before the end. CU next month. 73, John, K4BAI.

KE5WIQ Operated by: Neil

Operated by CQ as K3Y/5, and S&P as KE5WIQ. The WES was fun as always, to the point where my arm got tired towards the final qso's (sorry Dave K3Y/2 W1DV) It's funny that after a long work week the fist is sluggish, gets warm then hot, then gets sluggish after too much CW. Can there be too much? I should switch to a bug.

Oh yeah! I will, with more CW practice.

Cookie is back, that's great news.

Preliminary tests on the new wire monstrosity in the back yard were good: 3-5 S-units over both the vertical and dipole. The neighbors are taking notice, yes they are.

Wired Again

K9ZMD/9 Operated by: Gary

Got the antenna up just in time at my temporary station in Wisconsin. It was fund to discover it is a good location to work stations I've never even heard from my home in California.

KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy

A big thanks to my friend Walt LW3EX and John K4BAI. I only got to operate for 10 minutes and made two contacts. I listened, all to briefly, to a lot of new calls. Heard a lot of activity. Had fun, important part.

Randy _ KB4QQJ

P.S. First QRO entry, 50w from my Ten Tec Argosy.

GØRDO Operated by: John

Good fun but hard going, and after nightfall (1630z) pretty well nothing doing until two QSO's around 2330z on 80M - G4ELZ and KG4W !!.

Marconi PS No213A

KL7GLL Operated by: Gene

Hard to operate SK with gloves on --- lost heat in the loft over my garage where shack and antennas are. Still had a fun time, and esp. enjoyed chasing the K3Y ops. Thanks to all who worked through the NA Test QRM Saturday evening.

KL8DX Operated by: Phil

I started out as "me" making a few contacts on 40 meters. I was lucky enough to snag Walt during the start of the contest on 20 meters when there was nothing else on the band! Sunday, I hit 20 meters and as fate would have it, that is where I stayed up until the end of my assignment / WES. I switched to K3Y/KL7 around 1900z and once my signal was detected, it was pretty much non-stop until the end of the WES. Combining the WES with K3Y just made for some pure radio enjoyment especially being a triple multiplier for some. I know the other K3Y ops had just as much fun as I did. I apologize to a few that wanted to work me on other bands but there was too much activity on 20 to warrant the move. Hopefully between Bob (WL7WH) and I, we can get you those bands.

I had a small run of non-SKCC members and there is no doubt in my mind that K3Y has really helped in recruiting new members. Highlights were too many to list but I finally worked Tom, SKCC #1, while I was active as K3Y/KL7.

Thanks to all those who participated and for calling in. A big thanks to Mark, KJ7BS and Randy, KB4QQJ for their help in getting me on the schedule. A few times, close to last minute as K3Y/KL7. Now I'm looking personally for K3Y/1, K3Y/2, K3Y/KL7 (oddly enough), and K3Y/KH6. So, I will be joining you in the pile-ups! SKCC ROCKS!

KG4W Operated by: Ed

Used 200 watts in this one. Started at 1930z Sunday evening & made all qsos on 40, with the last 3 being on 80. Had 3 UK stations call me ie G0TSM, G4ELZ & G0RDO two of which are SKCC'ers. Had bad line noise, so there were a few calls I could not pull out. CU nx time & tnx for the qsos,

W3RT Operated by: Red

Limited time to operate, but when I got on, I was able to get two UK stations, one Argentina station (LW3EX), and K3Y/KL7, and Phil had to pull me up out of the mud to get me! (Thanks, Phil!) Split operations between the TS-940, and the TS-520S. Had a great time; lots of signals all over the bands.
Thanks to the promoters for another fine SKCC event.
73 to all. Red, W3RT in PA, SKCC #3237T

Worked K3Y/KL7 from off the back-end of my 160M Inverted-L on 20 meters. The Inverted-L is pointing due South ..... nice signal report from AK !!!!!
The SK key that I use is a German Junker (surplus NATO key)

The "Junker" - it is the finest "feeling" SK that you will ever know !!!!!!

Only one Q made on 14MHz Phil (The AK lander), the other 20 Q´s were on 21MHz, managed to work Johnny#0, Randy#4 & Dennis#6, congrats to all K3Y Op, FB guys!
Surprise call and best signal heard, Bill NT9K. Special thanks to Dick and all of you SKCC that keeps the CW flame glowing.

NE5DL Operated by: Dave

First WES - worked about 16 hours - had a lot of fun.
K3 at 100W and 5 band Hex Beam plus a Vertical for 80/40/30 and a loaded wire for 160.

AF2Z Operated by: Drew

Conditions were generally pretty poor with high noise levels on all bands. In any case there were not many signals to be heard here in SNJ. Got tired of CQing, so put my rig on scanner mode and just tried to snag the ones it picked up. Maybe other ops were doing the same. I did manage to get Phil K3Y/KL8DX on 20m, sounding stronger than I have heard him lately. (He had me at 529.) Also got the AARC operating K3Y/8 on 160m and 40m. My rig: Elecraft K3 @ 12-watts; 100' endfed wire; Junker straight key.
