Soapbox

K9JP Operated by: Jeff

Thanks everyone! I had lots of fun. The new used K2 here at 4 watts did a Great
job. 73 and Good Health, Jeff - K9JP

WI9X Operated by: Jim

Band condx poor... activity seemed down this time around.

W4FOA Operated by: Tony

I am very impressed with how everyone is improving in their contesting skills. Almost no repeats requested. Congrats to all! Some very loud signals. Best wishes to all of our friends in the Gustav and Ike Hurricane areas!! 73 Tony, W4FOA

AC2C Operated by: Ron

Conditions were about the worst I can recall.

I didn't have too much to devote to the Sprint, but tried to get on for a couple QSOs every few hours.

N9QU Operated by: Leo

Conditions not the greatest but lots of fun as usual. Thanks to all. 73, Leo

K9DTH Operated by: Ron

Conditions not good, with other contests going and the static from hurricane Ike but I still had lots of fun as always. See everyone on the next sprint.

K0LUW Operated by: Russ

Could have been the worst conditions ever - poor propagation and lots of QRN. Hope it is better next sprint.

WA1AR Operated by: Alan

Another good time. Mostly 40 and 20. Tried 80 in the afternoon on my vintage gear with no success. I should have tried early evening. Only a few interruption... lunch, dinner and a 3 hour timeout for a Patriots football game.

Alan WA1AR

N9AKF Operated by: Bart

Not much activity of any kind on the bands this weekend. It was fun to give it a shot anyway.
Bart

LW3EX Operated by: Walt

Tnx for nice sprint time
GL and best wishes to all friends in hurri area
Hopping CU all soon 73,Walt - ..-

K5ENA Operated by: John

My beloved Oklahoma Sooners' football game took priority over the Sprint Saturday evening so my operating time was limited to half time and Sunday afternoon. Never did find Randy. 20 meters was dead. Heavy QSB on 40. Enjoyed the dual theme SKCC/FISTS.

John, K5ENA

KE5PWL Operated by: Eric

Always a good time. i got to use my newly minted 4229c. now on to tribune :-) see ya'll in the straight key sprint in a few weeks. woo hoo worked the club call on first try, and i wasn't even looking for it.

W6UT Operated by: Dennis

Worked 80/40 (a & b)/20/15. Worked K9SKC on 5 bands. TU Randy. You did great job using Club call. Did get kind of slow during day Sunday. Had a great time. Used my Vibroplex Double (SK & Original). Looking forward to next sprint.

KC9HGW Operated by: Bob

I expected a lot of contest traffic this weekend, but didn't hear much on CW other than SKCC, so that's what I worked. Thanks everyone for being there.

Bob
KC9HGW
SKCC 281T

K6FFY Operated by: Nick

It was a slow weekend, and I'm sure Hurricane Ike played a part in that with our members living in that area.
I didn't use the K3UK Sked Page, but in my opinion we shouldn't have to.

AF2Z Operated by: Drew

Condx seemed not so great-- There were some very strong signals but fewer in overall number. My QSOs divide pretty evenly between 80, 40a and 40b. Only one contact on 20m. Randy K9SKC/KB4QQJ called me on 40 & 80-- thanks Randy! I was half asleep at the key Sunday morning-- couldn't remember if I was calling CQs or answering them! My station: Elecraft K3 @ 12 watts, 100x30' wire antenna, Junker straight key.

N4RE Operated by: Rick

Poor conditions so I really needed those Fists Bonus points.
73, Rick - N4RE

W3RT Operated by: Red

That was a fun deal! Hope that we can get something like that again in the future.

73 to all. Red, W3RT in PA. SKCC #3237T, FISTS 13498

K9SKC/KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy

Wow! Some really wild conditions. Zero heard on 20 meters for 16 hours. This was a fun Event. I would like to see this become a regular type theme. Many members in different clubs so we could do it a few times a year for different events. Next month is NAQCC Anniversary (N3A)..Lets do it again. Strongest signal was N5KIP Dick in LA..30 over. Seems most everybody was either loud or not there. Very few in between's. Got to thank Dennis, W6UT, 5 bands and FISTS "Get Your Feet Wet" weekend too!! You were busy Dennis!!
Old Friend Walt, Thanks for pulling me out again. You are a trooper!
Thanks to all FISTS and SKCC members for taking part. Fantastic!!
Mike, KC2EGL hurry with the new toy, can't wait for N3A and K3Y...

73,
Randy _ KB4QQJ

N2JNZ Operated by: George

Best result ever !!! Used the ZeroFive vertical and ran 40 upper and lower only. Thanks to all who worked me !! Elecraft K-1 , Vibroplex Blue Racer Deluxe , ZeroFive 40m vertical , 5W

W4KRN Operated by: Karen

Condx not the best, but had fun anyway. Helped get me a little closer to the 'C'.

KL7GLL Operated by: Gene

Not as much activity above 7.100 as in the last SKS. Lots of QRM on 40 Mtrs from the WAE Contest. Signals generally weaker and to pull out of noise. Fun, as always, for limited time devoted.

NG7Z Operated by: Paul

I was splitting my time between the WES and the Get Your Feet Wet weekend. Double my fun with the straight key :) The bottom line is this: I didn't do well in either event. But I had more fun than if I'd stuck to one event. Saturday had outdoor stuff to do so missed a bunch of operating time. But the wood stock pile is full. Didn't want to do that work in the middle of December.

NT9K Operated by: Bill

I can't remember having worse propagation. Between band conditions and not feeling well on Sunday, my score was down a bit. With all that, it was nice to see so many working so hard to make contacts.

I was using a Kenwood TS-870 with 100w into a MA5B mini beam and a 40 meter inverted vee for 40 meters. For this sprint I used 4 straight keys, 2 bugs and 1 sideswiper. I had pain in my shoulder and fist showed it. Sorry to those that I had to repeat my info.

73, Bill NT9K

Home brew corian sideswiper

W0EA Operated by: Tom

Second little SKCC event, operating from my dorm room at college now. Bands were noisy and I was pretty busy so only made 2 contacts, but its always fun anyway!

WA6L Operated by: John

I could only get on the air for about an hour on Sunday, but it was great to hear all the stations out there. It was great fun, and I look forward to next month! 73, John

K1PUB Operated by: Chas

My first WES, participated mainly to make contacts toward Centurion. Worked about 40 new stations, so it helped. Making QSOs got tough after about 10 AM (EDT)--SWBC QRM and not much activity. 20 M wasn't much help either, but I did pick up CA and TX. Worked only one station (WA1AR) in my own state of MA. Thanks, Alan.

K6JF Operated by: Jim

Absolutely abysmal band conditions, especially 40m. I shut down on Sat. evening at 8pm PDT since both 40 and 80 were practically lifeless, did not even hear a single CA station! Only good thing from this sprint was collecting 6 numbers towards my Tribune.

K2RFP Operated by: Dick

Sometimes I think it was easier to just do paper logging
than to write a computer program to do the logging with.

..now and then..

K8JD Operated by: John

only had a short time to participate so jumped in for a few QSOs.

N2YHQ Operated by: Marcelo

Unfortunately, I only had few hours available for SKS. Conditions were far from the best but had lots of fun.

KI7WO Operated by: Alan

NOT MUCH TIME ON THE RADIO, BUT STILL FUN FUN FUN.

QUITE A CHANGE OF PACE FROM "FORMAL CONTESTING".

GOT TO TALKING WITH WD9DWE, FIGURE THAT WAS ABOUT THE LONGEST QSO I HAVE EVER HAD SINCE I WAS A 3 WPM NOVICE. DISCUSSED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT RELIGION/POLITICS.

QUITE A CHANGE. MIGHT JUST HAVE TO TRY THIS AGAIN.

73, ALAN KI7WO #4620

KC2EGL Operated by: Michael

This was a great event. The idea of being able to work two clubs for exchanges was a outstanding one. As usual I had a blast. Thanks to all who worked me. And Randy, the new toy (KX-1) will take some time to build. The two who are building it (Myself KC2EGL, and John K3WWP) live almost 40 miles apart. We will have to work out a construction schedule. 73 Michael KC2EGL

KC0RSX/QRP Operated by: Len

Great fun! Wish I had more time for operating.

KX3H Operated by: Tim

Great fun, as usual, even with limited time to participate. Early in sprint I heard one op taking the time to explain to a non-member about the low pressure nature of the sprint. I wish I could recall who it was, but my hat's off to him for giving up a few QSOs in order to encourage another potential member.
