This was my first SKCC contest and I had a great time. All the operators were friendly, the pace was relaxed, and there was no pressure. It was all about fun!

I was only able to work about 5 hours total. I got a couple of hours in the evening on 40M, then the rest was on Sunday afternoon on 20M. I made one contact each on 80M and 15M.

I got to work LW3EX twice, which was a nice surprise. Also worked Gordon, N1AFV in Maine, which is a rare one for me.

This was a super way to make contacts and practice sending on the bug, Thanks to everyone who I worked, and I hope to hear you all next time.

73,

John, WA6L

First WES qrp. Several BIG signals on the bands: W5ZR, WR5U, WA1AR, K0LUW and K8QI all over s9. I never could get K9SKC to hear my 5 watt signal. Had a great time and looking forward to next month. 73 all and many thanks to those who dug me out of the mud.

W9DLN Operated by: Dan
Was hoping to work some T's and C's on 80 and 20. Didn't have much luck on 20 but 80 was pretty good. Most of the QSO's were on 40. Had a great time as always. Can't wait for next month's WES!

Bands not the greatest.. but was fun none-the-less! I got a lot closer to my Centurian mark!

Used an antique Bunnell telegraph key (cir 1896-1906)

Poor conditions out here today. Only 15 Qs btw 1646 & 2400. One contact ONLY on 15M with LW3EX. 20M was tough today. Conditions were better the first 4 hours of the sprint. Had some that I couldn't copy enough to work. Still enjoyed using club call.

K4CNW Operated by: Jack
Again, only had limited time but had lots of fun. Strange propogation on 20 meters Saturday evening - lots of good signals but no one could hear me. Sunday evening signals on 20 meters were weak but worked everyone I called - go figure!

Lots of activity on the bands, great time.

I made a mistake and submitted this data in the weekday sprint form-so please discard that one.

Great event-you can bounce in an out whenever there is time and find somebody to work. I was on 80, 40 and 20 meters and found activity on all three bands.

I started off ok on Saturday night, but when I came back to it on Sunday I thought my antenna may have fallen down. Propagation is an amazing phenomenon.

KD8CGH Operated by: Bob
Tnx for scoring these.

KL8DX Operated by: Phil
My first attempt at the SKCC Sprint and as fate would have it, the bands were very poor. I worked several new SKCC members and lots of great fists encountered. Not only was the space weather making things rough, a winter storm moved into the area on Sunday afternoon. Winds made it rough to copy some of the weaker stations. Sorry to those I missed. 50 mph wind gusts forecasted and 6 inches of fresh snow by Monday night is the prediction. I'm so ready for spring!

Best DX from here was N1AFV at the "other corner" and LW3EX way down south. Thanks again for the QSO's! I hope to catch a few more of the Sprints as time allows.

Equipment:
Rig: Icom756PRO
Amp: Ameritron AL-1500
Antenna: Mosley TA-34-XL on 20 and Inverted V on 40
Keyer: Bencher SK, serial #630057

Good Participation this weekend. The increasing number of Centurions and Tribunes is very noticable. One qso on 15M and one qso on 10M; both were with LW3EX, Walt in Argentina.

K1NV Operated by: Jon
20 meters seemed to be the hot band this month. Some QSO's were made on 40M, a few on 80M, and only one (LW3EX) on 15M. KL8DX had a great signal on 40M and 20M. Doug, KH6U, was worked on 20M off the back of the beam.
Several QRP stations were worked that had amazing signals. There should be enough C/T QSO's in the log to apply for the Tribune Award. I still need a couple of states for SKCC WAS.

KA2BSK Operated by: Eric
It was a pleasant suprise to have good band conditions on 80M and 40M and to see 20M usable. Only disappointment was that I could only operate a few hours. Looking forward to the next WES. 73's Eric.

I made my first straight key contacts during the sprint. Thanks all and I'll see you again during a future event.

Rain and snow all day was a good excuse to stay indoors and play radio. Had a blast switching between my vibroplex original 100th anniversary bug and homebrew cootie key made with an old hacksaw blade. Had to take a few breaks to watch the masters.

KL7GLL Operated by: Gene
Condx not particularly good fm VA; 3Qs on 80, 14 on 40, 4 on 20, and 1 on 15. I learned that not much is happening after 0600 UTC --- only 2 Qs in the wee hours. Finally got the "O" for Morse in my last Q with N7BO. Nice to wrk Walt, LW3EX, on 15 mtrs. Sure do enjoy these WES!!

My First ever CW contest and first contest QSO!I will try and get over the jitters and make more than one contact next time Hi Hi.

K9MMS Operated by: GARY
This was my first weekend SKS. I only spent about 3.8 hours operating in this one. All the QSOs were on 40 meters. That seemed to be the only band with good conditions here.
It was good to work quite a few centurions, tribunes, and new states for SKCC. Thanks for the SKCC QSOs.

I really am glad I found and joined this group. I like the format of having several operating events every month. Participating in SKCC is a lot of fun. The SKCC is great for ham radio.

Well I didn't score the most points I've ever had but I sure had the most fun I've had yet! Operating from the Caboose was a blast. I was really surprised. It was great. Strongest signal was W7VVW Dean. Wasn't in the WES but got Art in the ST Marks Lighthouse too. Walt LW3EX was there again on two bands this time. Worked Thirteen different clubs from the Caboose and several 2xQRP contacts. A Huge Thanks to all for making my Caboose Portable QRP Party and the WES the best yet. And Look at all the new members and first time entries! Bands are playing nicer each week. Can't wait till next month. 73 de KB4QQJ

NT9K Operated by: Bill
Very strange propagation this time, but still lots of fun. I put in more of an effort this month and was able to claim the bonus. I worked 10,15,20 and 40 meters. Thanks to Walt LW3EX for 3 bands, Dennis for being there as K9SKC for 2 bands.

Lots of new calls in my log. Heard some excellent fists going slow too. I got some of everything this time, fast and slow. It was nice to be able to let it rip a few times. Even had a 2xQRP with Randy in the Caboose to top it off.

My equipment this time. Kenwood TS-870, inverted vee for 40 and my Cushcraft MA5B mini-beam. I used 8 different keys, but mostly a new Norwegian Marine Key and my G3YUH Amplidan clone. Until next time 73, Bill NT9K..

Some of the keys I used in this event.

First Weekend Sprint for me a a while. i played only sunday afternoon on 20 meters. What a great time.

AF2Z Operated by: Drew
40m was the active band this time-- about 60f my QSOs. The rest were on 80m, and five or six on 20m. Tried the novice band on 40 a few times but heard nil there. Lots of action on 40m at the close-- SKCC ops really lit up the band! My station: Elecraft K2 @ 15 watts; 100' endfed wire up 30'; Junker straight key.

WA1AR Operated by: Alan
Not as many QSOs as last time. The bands were noisy. A lot of calling CQ with no answers. A lot of hard to copy signals on 40M. Started out fast Saturday evening, but Sunday afternoon was quite lonely. I did pick up a few T&Cs and have only 12 more to go for the "T". I blew the audio driver chip in my TS 440 late Saturday night and just went to bed. I had to move to Studio B with a Ten Tec. If that blew the Ranger was next. K2RFP thanks for the software log program. First time I tried it.

With a family activity on Saturday night and a promise to my wife to drive her to a wedding shower on Sunday 2.5 hours away, I had no plans for operating the sprint. But while I waited for her to get ready on Sunday morning I made 8 contacts. Then after dropping her off at the wedding shower I drove to a nearby county park, tossed a wire up into a tree and used my KX1 for one more sprint contact! (I also had a non-sprint QSO from the park as well.)

Another great weekend sprint. I enjoyed the Can You Spell "Samuel Finley Breese Morse"? theme. It kept me busy trying to figure what call to use for what letter. I am already thinking about key designs for the OCT HB key sprint theme. Hope to see you on the bands for a QSO longer than Name, QTH, and SKCC#.

My first SKS! As a new ham (9 mos. on the air) I was a little hesitant to try the Sprint. It proved to be a good decision: I had a lot of fun and learned a few things as well. My thanks to the ops who made the effort to copy my weak signal. Also thanks to Drew AF2Z for his Youtube SKS videos showing how it's done.
