NE7D Operated by: Rock
Haven't done one of these for a while -- always enjoyable and great to meet some of the newer members. Could only play for the first few hours, but was able to pick up mults from all around the US (plus Argentina & Mexico) so propagation wasn't that horrible. Thanks to all who called and sri to those I had trouble copying -- 80M was especially tough! 73, Rock NE7D

N2YHQ Operated by: MARCELO
I enjoyed this Sprint very much and am looking forward for the next one. Operated a Yaesu FT-897D with an old Signal Electric all brass key that is showing age but still does the job. I want to thank to all the operators for nice QSOs and in particular to W1DV that worked K9SKC almost non-stop.

CW Forever, 73 n2yhq

N9QU Operated by: Leo
Still having fun in spite of the QRN & QRM (mostly contesters).

KCØRSX Operated by: Len
Only was able to operate about an hour--except for the contact with CA at (beyond) the end of my available time.

Thanks to all who made this a fun hour!

Worked with the IC-703 set on 5 Watts the whole time from here in southeast MN.

AC2C Operated by: Ron
Loads of fun. Good sprint.

kØluw Operated by: Russ
Lots of stations in the sprint this month and fairly good operating conditions. Lots of fun for all.

KI6BHB Operated by: Dave
First sprint. Was loads of fun. Thanks all.

KC6ZZT Operated by: Joe
My second SKCC WES. Again, a wonderful experience. Nice that 20M was hopping most of the time. Doing well for a wire dipole in garage attic.

Lots of other activity at the same time on same frequencies: WI QSO Party, Elecraft Users Net (EKN), maybe others too.

So in the midst of it, I logged two WI QSO party contacts and accidentally checked in to the EKN Net (I have a Kenwood) ;-)

Looking forward to more!

K8JD Operated by: John
First time I managed to find a resonable time to do some sprinting. enjoyed QSOs on 160, 80, 40, and 20M.

KH6OZ Operated by: George
My first sprint. I had fun.

KG4W Operated by: Ed
Nice time, lots of qso parties. Didn't start till Sunday am.
Put up new 2nd ant in big wind Sat, wind took it down Sat nite. Nice to work couple of our DX SKCC'ers ie-
Luis XE1YJL 2934C on 20 & 40 and Walt LW3EX 3804 on 15 mtrs.
Ran 200 watts. Here's a few on my (didn't hear)list -
MS,NC,SC,AR,DE. 73 Ed

K6FFY Operated by: Nick
It's nice to see that the solar conditions are finally starting to get better.... Now, if I only had more free time to play.

W6ut Operated by: Dennis
Bands were in better shape. Was great to see so many new members involved. Worked 80/40/20. Tried 15 & 10 with no luck. Another excellent WES.

N2JNZ Operated by: George
Wish i could have spent more time ...12 to 18 inches of snow here .. LOTS of shoveling !! Started QRP until I heard K7QHU from ID which I needed for last state for WAS !! Turned it up to 100 W which I stayed for the rest of the Sprint. Had a great time as usual !!! Thanks all !!!!!

W6SQQ Operated by: Al
Conditions not bad, but how many contests were going on? I heard 5, not counting RTTY. Massive confusion, but lots of fun, none the less. I worked the Idaho QSO Party and Sprint-a-Thon both, running 5W and a wire antenna on 40 & 20M. Most SKCC stations I called never heard me, but I was overjoyed when I worked Dave, W1DV, operating K9SKC. That was my best DX during this session. Thanks to Dave, Cookie, Joe and Bert for making my day, and to all for participating in the most active monthly sprint in a long time. Can't wait 'til next month!

W3RT Operated by: Red
Great weekend Sprint! Lot's of signals, many new ops to work. Had a good time. Best score for me ever in SKCC sprints!

Tnx to all I worked.

Thanks to Tom, K4ZGB for my one contact! I was running 400mW
on 40 meters. I heard and called may SKCC members but no luck.
I had only 1 hour to work the sprint before getting called into work. Next month maybe I can do better! 73, Jeff - K9JP

First SKCC event, great fun!

WA5LPW Operated by: Keith
Did not realize the sprint was taking place and worked Dave K9SKC first thing. He did not rush the conversation and was a pleasure to talk to. Only at the end of our QSO did he mention the sprint. It was so rewarding to talk to someone for more than 599 TN Etc. Many thanks to him and for SKCC and how it helps new hams (like me) get into this great hobby.

This was my first SKCC sprint and I look forward to more. I have only been a ham for 2 years and love CW! Keith, 3004

K1ULF Operated by: Ulf
Great fun! I only operated the first half hour then a few hours from 0230 to 0540 on and off as I could. I added several new calls and also a new state thanks to W7DAX in UT. 12 QSO'n was on 5W and three on about 18W.

I have borrowed a MFJ antenna analyzer for the weekend so i mixed SKS with some ON4AA-Windom antenna building. I got that wire up this afternoon so now I can switch between bands without going down in the basement. I added a lot of new calls and also a new state thanks to W7DAX in UT. 12 QSO'n was on 5W and three on about 18W.

N1URA Operated by: Cory
First time in the WES, discovered it by accident. I was going to participate in the NA RTTY Sprint and heard CQ SKS being sent so I decided to switch gears! Had a fun time and now have a score to beat for next time. Ran my FT-817 at 5 watts on battery power, 40 meter Double Extended Zepp/A3S yagi and LTA 2007 XMAS KEY.

NØDET Operated by: Dave
Wish I had more time - stayed on 40 mtrs with the Red Hot 40 QRP rig to the gutter here in the condo. Shack is mostly apart in hopes of moving out of the condo soon...to a place I can have REAL antennas!!!

K8KFJ Operated by: Gary
Only a little over an hour's worth of contacts on 80m Saturday evening but I wanted to include them to show activity since it was the 1st Anniversary of the WES. It's my hope that there were a record number of participants to celebrate the Anniversary. Also, my thanks to those who worked me.

AA9KH Operated by: Jay
Thanks to all for the 80M activity. Very little activity on the high end of the band during the first hour so thank you K2RFP and W9DLN for coming by. Last few hours Sunday were hopeless, with all the Minnesota QSO party activity on both 40 and 80 meters ... and a lack of shut-eye (hi).
Thank you to N7BVY and NE7D for activating the Pacific northwest on 80. Thanks K1ULF/QRP for helping add CT to my QRP WAS list!
A special note to K1NV: Many thanks for Nevada on 80M. You had the strongest signal heard during this event with two exceptions: Dave K9SKC/W1DV and my neighbor Wil K9FO (hi). Thanks for coming to the party Wil and hope you will choose to join us as a member.
73,
J

The RTTY Sprint didn't turn out to be too bad for us, but the Wisconsin QSO Party seemed to want to share our space and it got pretty crowded on Sunday afternoon. The sunspots didn't cooperate to open up 15 or 10. I had one QSO on 15 with LW3EX and none on 10. But, it was fun and I made quite a few contacts.

I used the BEncher RJ-1 for this one.

W5ACM Operated by: Andy
Although I was only running 1 Watt out to a ground-mounted antique vertical, I was delighted at the extra effort taken by those I worked to get my info. It was an excellent first SKCC event for me. 73 de Andy W5ACM

AD5QB Operated by: Ken
Busy weekend, split my time between OK, ID, and WI QSO Parties, the NA RTTY Sprint, and the SKCC Sprintathon. Only got to make a few contacts, thanks to those who dug my low powered attic dipole signal out of the noise. Maybe I'll have an outside antenna back up for the next sprint.

WB7AEI Operated by: Phil
Ran 40M only with my HB station and new Junker SK. Fair activity Sat. evening and unlike many events folks were spread out in frequency. Nabbed QSO #6 with 2 minutes to go. Thanks for the fun - like the 24 hours and laid back style. Enjoyed all the hand sent CW.

KB4QQJ Operated by: Randy
Fun Sprint. Great to see all the QRP stations and new operators. Lot's of new numbers popping up. Band was crowded and I didn't mind at all! Love to hear all that CW. I got six 2xQRP contacts. The strongest signal in NC was Bert W5ZR at 30 OVER! Andy W5ACM had a FB 1 watt signal and Mike KC2EGL had the strongest QRP signal at 579. Jeff K9JP I heard you in NC, RST was 309, I tried but guess my 5 watts didn't do it this time. Always good to hear the musical fist of Dave, a fine job with the club call Dave. Seems to be a direct line here to LU, Walt, LW3EX has a streak going, good to see you on 15 Walt. Thanks to all, and I look forward to the next one. BCNU then. Randy

QRP was fun tonight!! Thanks Andy

K1NV Operated by: Jon
Managed to make contacts on 80,40,20, and 15M this month. LW3EX and XE1YJL appeared on 15M, but no stateside. Several non-SKCC QSO's were made which helped the total. Where were the New England stations? Worked WA1AR and N1PVP in MA around noon Sunday, but nobody else up that way. Propagation? CU for the upcoming March Weekday Sprint.

KA2BSK Operated by: Eric
Thanks to everyone for a fun sprint. Looking forward to next month.

W5ZR Operated by: Bert
The participation was very good this weekend, in spite of qrm from all the other contests on the bands. Nothing heard above 20 meters; a few sunspots would be a great help. The number of Centurions and Tribunes worked shows that the number of active members is increasing! Almost wore out my old J-38 straight key....

K2RFP Operated by: Dick
I was going to bow out after the first dance but hung around for three more.
It was fun.

Another very enjoyable WES. Great activity, although I had limited time to operate. Nice to work Luis, XE1YJL, on 40 M. Hrd Walt, LW3EX, on 15 M but he couldn't hear me well enough to work. With all the QRP operations this WES, I, as WES Awards manager, may have to consider separate awards for best QRP scores.

AF2Z Operated by: Drew
It was a pretty stormy day on Saturday. With antenna bouncing around and lights flickering I wasn't planning on much activity, but the bands were not bad. If there was a RTTY contest going on I heard none. Worked mostly 80m on Sat; 40 & 20 on Sun morning. Trib's were dominant once again: 12 T's vs 8 C's. All but 10 QSOs were in Eastern TZ. Rig: Elecraft K2; 100' endfed wire; Junker straight key.

KØMVJ Operated by: Roger
I just joined skcc and enjoying it very much.
Thank you all.

I had a great time! I worked members on 10,15,20,40,80 meters. I was using my Kenwood TS-870 at 100 watts into a Cushcraft MA5B mini beam and for 40 meters was using an inverted vee up 40 ft at the apex. My key is new, just got it 2 days ago. Custom made Amplidan by Ron G3YUH. It sure is sweet and wants to go fast. I did pretty good with it, but got sloppy in the last hour.

I put in a decent effort this month, even called cq a few times which is rare. For those that I missed, forgive me. I had my filter on 100hz and didn't realize until it was too late. I found Dave K9SKC on 3 bands, thanks Dave!

Soapbox: Great weekend sprint. The combination of Dick K2RFP's super mini-logger, hand tailored to WES, and Bill's great WES web site, make this a joy. Seemed like a lot of activity and I tried to make K9SKC available as much as could. Personal goal was to make 100 QSOs and I made 109 so as far as I am concerned it was a winner. Neede six hours of sleep, three hours out for church, and had to QRT two hours early to pick my wife up at airport - next time I'll shoot for a K9SKC record. Worked six non-members, all were very interested and we may get some new applications. Sorry for the poor showing on higher bands; my 256 foot loop just doesn't do it on 15 es 10. CUL - 73 - good to hear all the activity - de Dave W1DV (K9SKC op)

Thanks to Dick, K2RFP, for a nice logging program. Makes things a lot simpler.

I got some time in Sat night and Sunday at various times. Maybe a record for me at about 6 hours in all. At one point or another I used 4 diffrent bugs and 3 keys. I always had one bug and one key connected. With the bugs I tried to stay around 18-20 WPM and used the SK if I had to slow down. I added 31 new calls for Centurion. Only 9 more to go. That may not be so easy.

I didn't have time to make many contacts, but I did get the club call. I guess I'm one month short of the junkbox key weekend - thought I'd put up a picture of my effort anyway.
Thanks - 73 - Tom K1NNJ

Running five watts was fun, but the true recognition of accomplishment for QRP belongs to those who pulled my signal out of the noise... thanks!
Plus - No RTTY qrm! What happened to the RTTY contest? I didn't hear any RTTY at all.
Minus - Fifteen meters never opened up here probably due to the elevated A index. Fifteen meters would have really helped with QRP.
This Weekend Sprint has become my favorite activity. Thanks to the WES manager and all who make it possible.

Had a great time working the sprint. Band Condx appeared to be better this month as there were some great signals. Wish I could have spent more time working the sprint but maybe next month.

I'm not sure what I've gotten myself into, but Russ (K0LUW) says the ops on SKCC are a great group of folks. Thanks for letting me participate.

This weekend, I will be on CW only all bands in the Russian DX Contest using the South East Contest Club call, W4AN, from the W8JI contest station. I will be in the General Class US bands. Hope to work some of you. Exchange will be RST + serial #.

This Sprint was my first attempt to operate with the straight key. I learned CW with a keyer and paddle and I appreciate the chance to try my hand with a straight key. 73, Dick N5KIP

I didn't have time to work the contest but did make one contact, far be it from me to be the last holdout for the magic 75! I'm a little ashamed to submit a score of 1, but hey, I'm in for the count! I'm building a new 40m vertical this weekend, maybe I'll have it ready for the next one.

Did not participate as much as I intended, but still got some time in.
