Herd several stations LOGGED AF5XF W3NP K4BAI K0RO on 20m..W3NP seemed to be doing well.. TNX ALL
AA6AC BOB CA 6276S..
I got a good start, but then my pathminder antenna switch died and I was off the air. It happened just as I was responding to Terry, N6EED. Sorry, Terry. you were solid into KS, too.
First one I ever participated in
Lots of action tonight. Worked 20/40/80. 80 was the money band for the final hour, noisy but good sigs. Usually catch Dave W3NP most sprints, but not this time. Rig: Elecraft K3 @ 100W; indoor cobweb & endfed wire; Junker straight key. Tnx and a tap o' the key to all!
This was my first time on CW in quite a while. It felt good and was a lot of fun. I was ready to keep going but my fist isn't ;-) Thanks to all!
Thanks to everyone who worked me and made my night a great night. the night's highlights were AA1EF(ME) and KB3VQU(DE).
73s everyone and cu on the band.
Started out on 20 meters with my MFJ-9296 at 5 watts (11.5 volts powering it.. does 11 Watts at 13.8V). 20 was surprisingly good. Shifted to 40 meters with my trusty DSW-40 and worked a few more stations. 40 was also good here. Went to 80 meters for the last 20 minutes using my "big rig"... OHR-100A.. and worked a few more strong signals. Last QSO was with Dave, W3NP. I then decided to read the rules and was pleasantly surprised to learn that Dave was the bonus station... I could not have planned better if I tried. 72 to all until next month.. Peter
Pleased to hear the bands in good shape, worked 40 & 20 M and finished on 80m..where I ran across Slim WA0BGV The ring leader of the "Missouri Outlaws".
New numbers from KE0CU & KE8CEW..TU all 73 Rick
P.S. Tnx to Dave W3NP for bonus station...
Worked 20 meters exclusively and the band stayed open throughout the event. Was able to work the four corners of the US and BC, but not AK or HI. I picked up nine QSO’s for my S which is now just nine more away..
It was fun to log Karen, W4KRN who is now in my log for my C, T, and S. Thanks, Karen.
I find the SKCC events to be great fun and whenever I have a QSO with a member, I encourage them to join the fun. Our ranks are growing and I believe these activities are part of the reason. Thanks to those I contacted, all who participated, and to the dedicated team who do the planning and organizing.
Propagation was quite good for a change
I worked 20M the first hour and 40M the second. Conditions were less than spectacular from the west. I didn't QSO anybody closer than IL or TX. W1TAG in ME was consistently strong on both bands.
Lots more "s" stations than "c" or "t"---Maybe it's time for an "Emperor" award.
First sprint I could work entirely from start to finish in a long while. I was worried because my very first QSO, starting on 20M, just faded away on me. I quickly moved to 40M which was much better, and stayed more or less there for the entire sprint, with very short forays back to 20M and once (unproductively) to 80M. Not the best score, but a lot of fun.
Wanted to try my new homebrew Cootie, but realize that would be torturous for this long a period, mainly for the listener :)
One non-SKCC member (KC8YFG) called me and I worked him, but did not count him for my totals.
73 and thanks for the all the great QSO's.
K3@100W/Dipoles/Bunnel straight Key and Viz-Key vertical bug
3 Pretty busy bands tonight. Messed up and was looking for the wrong bonus station, fortunately worked W3NP on 20 at least.
FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, TH6DXX, dipole. 20M was very good to most of the USA. Best QSO was KL3W in AK, weak on both ends. Had about decided to stay on 20M for the whole time when a loud QRMer calling "CQ DX" ruined a potential QSO with P40W and then followed me up the band. So, went to 40 and did get two new mults on that band. QSOs by band: 49 on 20M and 11 on 40M. Thanks for all QSOs. Look for me as VP5/K4BAI from Provo Nov. 25 to 30. In CQ WPX CW contest this weekend, K4QPL and I will be multi single low power as VP5M. 73, John, K4BAI.
Running 15 watts with TT Argonaut V into dipole on 40 meters and vertical on 20 meters.
Noted K5TMT was putting a nice signal into Amarillo on 40 meters.
Made it home from Hamvention in time for one QSO.
Nice to visit with quite a few at the SKCC booth.
My my, 40 meters was loaded with strong signals all night. Dropped down to 80 meters later and finally worked Dave w3np with just minutes to spare. It was hard breaking through the pile ups he had all night. Great fun as always especially with hot band conditions
20m. was dead here at the start of this SKS, but 40 & 80 were good. Rig: IC-7000 at 100w. into dipole up 25 ft. w/ old Navy Straight Key.
worked 40 and 80 nothing on 20 meters
Started late. Got my days mixed up. Was out getting ice cream with my wife. I carry my FT 817 in the car to listen to CW on the road, and I heard a bunch of SKS on 40 mtrs, booming in. Rushed home and racked up a whopping 2 contacts. Oh well, was fun and crowded.
Nice to see 20 meters open for a while and 40 meters was solid this evening.
40 meters was in good shape. Enjoyed the QSO's
Thank you all.
The RIG is Alinco DX-SR8. ANT is End-Fed @ 25' in the attic.
Missed about 30 minutes - Had the wrong day on my calendar - Rookie mistake... Had a great time though. Stayed on 40m all night. 40m was sure alive.
All my contacts were on 20 meters. Barely heard one station on 40.
Wow! 40m was wall-to-wall!! I just got the old Tempo One fixed (again) and wanted to use it for the SKS. Bad timing! It just doesn't deal well with lots of loud stations. I should just use it when the bands are lousy ...
Good signals in North Texas tonight. I could only stay for 30 minutes, but I had a great time.
Good night on 40m lots of strong signals. Thanks to Ted K8AQM and Ken K8KIC for helping with the multi op.
SKS is always a blast.
Lots of fading. Some folks real hard to copy much of. Fun. Will do it again. 73, Steve
Thanks for the Q's. Prop seemed to be great on 40 in the eastern U.S.A. out to MI and TX and north to NH, at least from what I could tell. I had no problems getting through at 5w and I could hear both sides to the most of the other exchanges being made, too. Unfortunately I had to disconnect after a short while because of lightning in the area. Thanks guys!
I did better tonight. I love this , i do better each time and have a load of fun. I didnt get w3np though. Thanks all, you"re a great bunch and SKCC if my favorite! 73s,Steve Dr ki8fv
Nice night on 40 meters ... pulled out a few on 80 meters towards the end. Thanks for all the contacts tonight. Hope to see you all again next month. 73, jack
Enjoyed the 2 hour sprint - lots of fun. 40 meters was open with many stations to work. Thanks to all who worked me. Hope to see you in the next event! 73
It was fun, thanks everyone!
20 was GREAT for the entire SKS, quiet, lots of stations - very fun night. See you all next month.
73 de N4ow, AL
Good conx on both 20 and 40m tonight !
Even got Dave the bonus station and didn't realize it till I submitted my score.
Used the KX3 and Tinybug tonight into my EFHW vertical wire antenna.
Thanks ops and see ya'll next month !
73 de Florida
100 Watt IC706 with a 1958 Vibroplex Presentation into a ground mounted Butternut HF6V without radials. Stuck to 20 but heard, but could not raise, K4BAI on 40 after working him on 20. Got W3NP! Russ, Portland, OR.
Had my first ever contact with my new Alexloop in on 40 meters at just under 1 watt. Now to get it outside this summer and have some fun. Thanks Mike K1EEE for being the first on the loop.
Tnx fer the QSOs. Stayed on 40 meters. Lots of action es big signals. Ran my IC746 at 100 Watts to a double bazooka up 20 ft. Nye master key. Ron
FIRST TIME I POWERD UP NEW KX-3, RECEIVED ONE HOUR BEFORE SPRINT. SO KEPT UP FINDING NEW THINGS TO DISTRACT ME. GREAT FUN........
Late getting started and storm came over towards end, but bands sounded great! KX3 5W Vibroplex straight key Dipole@45'
Very good conditions this evening. Tnx to all for the QSO's
40m was in great shape here in WI. Almost 1/2 were less than 200 miles. Also worked stations that were many 100s. Sure did not miss the QSB.
My first SKS, lots of fun and lots of participants.
On vacation in Michigan so I repeated SPC at least twice on each contact. Operated from a patio with KX3 at 10 watts and EFHW antenna. When the rain started I had to drag things to a porch. Great fun.
Pretty good conditions here on 40. Some activity on 20. Thanks everyone. 73.
Nice night, with better conditions than recently. Also, am at the ME QTH for the season, with better antennas. 20m and 40m were very busy - never got to 80m. Thanks to all.
This is the most QSOs I've ever gotten in a Sprint. I've been feeling a cold coming on all day today. The SKS was a pleasant distraction. Thanks for the QSOs. 73 de Art W2NRA 11634Sx5
Started on 20 & stayed there for 32 Q's as the band was so good. Moved to 40 for 22 more and then finished on 80. Condx were overall excellent and I wished there had more time to work the many stations I could not get to in 120 minutes! The P3 was showing wall to wall signals on all bands!
This was my first event using a new 160 meter horizontal loop at 45'. It is 520' in an octagon config and supported by 8 trees/tower. Just finished mounting the DX Eng balun inside a few hours before SKS started. Still need to do some feedline work outside. So far it appears to be working.
Rig: Elecraft K3 line at 450 watts. Ant: KT-34a on 20 and the loop on 40 & 80. Wished I could have made it to 160. Keys: Vibroplex J-36 and German Junker straight key.
I enjoyed being the special event station and apologize to all those who called that I didn't get to work. Kudos to the QRP stations that I worked and especially to Steve NN0SS at 1 watt who I got on 2 bands!!
73, W3NP - Dave in West Virginia
Need to get my 4SQRP HiPerMite filter made and use with the MTR-3. My ears hurt after an hour on 40m tonite. KK1 key. Practiced for Field Day with HamLog on the iPad, which actually slowed me down. Always fun and interesting. 73
Tnx for the QSOs. Made this one a single band effort, and stayed on 40M. Band was noisy, but there was good activity....73
Could have been better condition but is what it is 73 Bud
Not on very but fun as usual!
Great time! I bounced back and forth between 40m & 80m, S&P. After DISMAL conditions on 40m this afternoon, the band came alive at sunset; 80m was in pretty decent shape tonight, too. I ran 50W into an OCF Inverted-V. Thanks all -- 73 es ZUT.
Lots of fun. Thanks to Ken N8KR for hosting the multi-op and for the hot dogs and other goodies.
Only got to operate for short time; sigs seemed good on 40m. First use of my new Palm Radio PPK straight key. I think I am going to enjoy using this key. End fed sloper antenna up 25 ft . Tnx to all who copied my 5 watt sig. 73 Ken
Great to hear all the good signals on 40 and 20 meters. Thanks to all. 73
Testing Field Day configuration: IC-7200 on battery, 5 watts to a ground plane at 10 feet. 72 and C U all again!
Made a few contacts. Can't work 40m because of an RFI problem with the TV. Thanks to all ops and organizers.
Only able to be on for 1 hr, but was able to get several new SKCC numbers
I only had a few minutes due to work, thanks to all who copied my puny-weak signal. Rig this time is Flex 3000 at 5 watts into a dipole at 30 ft. Key this time was a Czech military key. Thanks for another great sprint, even if I only made it for the last 30 minutes or so.
Pretty good signals tonight and good to see everyone!
Still recovering from shoulder surgery, but worked 4 stations for the first 12 minutes then had to quit. Haven't done the SKS in a long time. This was fun! Using my Nye Viking Speed-x straight key.
Man...this was my best score and QSO count so far in a sprint. It helps when my bug doesn't explode several times during the sprint hi hi. Terrible condx all day on 20 and 40m here but around the time of the sprint it cleaned up a bit. TONS of stations on 40m and for once I got some action on 20m as well. Managed to bump into W3NP on 40m too this month. Always look forward to these. Thanks to all the members (a great bunch and world class ops) and all who put this together! Looking forward to June now!
