Hello; Did not have much time between a Severe WX net practice and cleaning up the shack. But thanks to K1NV and K8JD...kind of bookend qso's.
Another fun sprint. It was a little crazy at first, with lots of signals. I managed to contact a few stations as far as TN and MI, I am happy. I contacted the bonus station, W8MU on 40 with little effort. 40 and 80 meters where great. Thank everyone! See you in the next event. 73 de AC2RJ, Ruben.
Had a god time and made some new friends. 20m shut at 0100z so it fell apart for me. worked FL on 80m - a new state. tnx for all the QSOs and 73.
40 meters only and QRP as always. Thanks for the contacts and 73/72 until next month. Peter
20 Meters stayed open for entire event. No Alaska station but otherwise, worked all four corners of the country, 3 Provinces, and Puerto Rico. Picked up 11 new T's and S's. Much fun.
40 meters crowded like Times Square on New Years Eve! Sounded like a record number of ops in this one. Great to work the old-timers and also new members in the high numbers. SKCC is the place to be!
Looking forward to WES, Lee K1LEE
The best band in the west seemed to be 20 meters. There was lots of action for most of the Sprint. I dropped down to a busy 40 meters with about 30 minutes to go and cruised the band for a few more contacts.
PS7AW and KP4RD provided some DX but many US states usually heard were missing from the log especially 6's and 7's. There was a "WA4" station I just couldn't pull out and I'm sorry we couldn't connect. Maybe next time.
Started out on 20 made a few contacts, went to 40 ??? condx in MO, and finished up on 80. Thanks for the QSO's and look forward to next SKCC event.
The loop is once again a loop. Gotit fixed last weekend. 20 was nice but 40 again was the money band
Thanks for hearing my 10W signal into a kinky wire.
40 was so good that almost had no time to try some 80.
Enjoyable event this evening. I spent the entire time on 40M. Thanks for the Qs and some new numbers! I appreciate you all. Best of 73s.
IC-7300 with a Begali Spark into an OCF Vertical Flagpole.
5 QSOs on 20 at the start. Band was open, but didn't get many answers to CQs so moved to 40 where rate was much better. A little QRN bothered the weakest stations. Was unable to copy info from N7TB (very sorry) and also couldn't get the calls of several weak callers. Thanks for trying. Very enjoyable sprint. 73, John, K4BAI.
TT Argonaut V at 15 watts
8 Q's on 20m and 2 Q's on 40m.
worked 1st hour and then last 15m of 2nd hour.
CONX rather poor on the Left Coast
Well that was fun! Wasn't planning to operate but I just happened to have some free time and made a few QSOs for this SKS.
Started a half our late , on 40M and after 40 minutes I moved to 80M and finished the last two QSOs on 160M. At first on 40M,I did mostly S&P but on 80 and 160M found a freq and called CQ and made a good run.See you in WES next month !
40 meters in great shape here tonight. Thanks Don for the bonus points from MI. Also tnx Mike K5MP for hanging in there as a couple of others were also calling at the same time & I needed FL. Nice day here on Lake Erie today about 74 & sunny. Hope to see everyone next month. 73's Larry
I have not worked a SKS for a long time. I forgot all about it. I turned on my radio and heard all the activity, and remembered. Too bad for me it was already 1/2 over. But it was still a lot of fun. Thanks for the contacts.
Got home as fast as I could but only got on for 5 minutes of the end of the sprint. I still enjoyed it.
Tonight I used the my good old Ten Tec Argosy and straight key I bought as a Novice back in 1982, age 15. Great to have the opportunity to still be be talking to you all on this rig.
Nice bands for this SKS, even 20m was open first 1/2 hr. Rig: IC-7000 at 50w. into dipole up 25 ft. w/ old navy straight key.
worked 40 meters exclusively
Just tried 40 meters with the solar activity we have had this week. I called a few that did not hear me and did hear W8MU but he could not hear me. Icom 7410 @ 5 watts and Inverted Vee.
5 worked with SKCc Key
2 worked with Nye Navy Key
3 worked with Bushwacker Sideswiper
1 worked with Telegraph Apparatus Bug
Been a while since I've done this one. Nice activity. 40 was busy. Just spent the first hour on the air. Thanks to all that worked me and 73.
Yes sir! I got my recent antenna problems sorted plus the bands were red hot with signals. My trusty Heathkit worked fine and I even worked the bonus station. Likely my best show ever in SKS.
Thanks to everybody who was kind enough to answer me!!
20 and 40 were in good shape from north Texas. I was able to work both coasts easily. Thanks to all who worked me. Terry
Knock the rust off. Radio still works.. :)
TNX W8MU 2 bands!! Nice to work some old friends and meet some new folks too. 40m best here as I started an hour late and 20 was long, with KP4RD Felix worked there.
80m was very noisy with storms close, 160 sounded undoable.
Tnx for the qso`s and 73 all , Mark 6585S
I love this and the skcc. I got 1 more as I than last time . I worked w8mu on 80 and 40. See you in Dayton, 73s all, Steve
Really enjoyed this Weekday 2-hour sprint. Didn't work but a few stations because of having to cut the sprint short, but the 40 meter band seemed to have a lot of activity on it. For the most part band conditions in South GA were pretty good compared to recent activity. Thanks to all for making this a fun event!
Got home in time for the last 30 minutes.
My first SKS. Thanks for the Qs! 73
All hunt-n-pounce ops.
5 Q's on 20m and 2 Q's on 40m
Worked mostly on 40 meters. I did try 80 some but there was storms in the area so 80 was very noisy.
I was running my IC-746 non-pro and a loop ant. running 100 watts and using my homebrew straight key mostly. Did use the bug a couple of times. Thanks to all those who help put the sprint together and thanks to all the great ops who participated...73....Outlaw #3....Bill
This was my first SKS. Got into it late for just about the last hour, but had a fun time. Mostly on 80m and 1 QSO on 20m.
My first attempt at SKS
First WDS with my new call. Bands were pretty rough so I ran 10w from the Icom IC7410 to AL811 and about 150w out to my noisy OCF dipole at 40ft. Would have done a little better but found Ray NO0V calling CQ and had an almost 20 min QSO. Thanks Ray, what a pleasure netting you tonight! Thank you for all the old friends and the new ones made tonight and Thank you John K4BAI for GA; Luckily I found Don W8MU on 40 and 80 for 2x bonus. Thank you for the QSO. 73 Mike I had a blast!
Lots of fun to be had. 40 meters had me hopping till the last 30 minutes. I should have stayed there. Not many on 80 meters.
FIRST TIME I HAVE TRIED THIS EVENT. WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD MORE TIME TO COMPETE THIS EVE. WAS FUN.
Good fun, helping spread ... I was a few months ago without participating in the SKS, it was great the return.
73's of Cha PS7AW
Good conditions on 40 but my left foot kept getting in the way of my fist. Many familiar call signs and some new ones.
73 and Best Wishes to all.
ic-703 @ 5W + EndFed vert wire w/LDG RT-100. TU DR Friends for a very enjoyable 2-hours. 73 Jose VE3DTI.
Bencher straight key with IC7000 and 3 band
Cushcraft Vert. 8 ft off ground. Stayed on 20.
Condx better than my recent SKCC attempts. Got the bonus station again!! Had
fun-thanks for the sprints....CUL!
Second sprint and still getting the hang of it – especially the SKCC logger. First real test of beautiful new G0NVT straight key which showed up in the mail last week!
IC-756PIII running 70 watts to 67' wire loop in garage attic, tuned at the feed point with an old SGC-231.
(Heard W8MU on 40 & 80 but didn't realize I could work him on both until sprint was over and I re-read the rules. Made a few other errors, too embarrassing to share. Still learning. But what a great way to spend a couple of evening hours!)
Pretty much stayed on 40 meters the whole time except for the last few minutes. Just couldnt stir up one more contact to break 70 q's. Band conditions seemed pretty good tonight considering how bad they have been in the past few weeks. Thanks to all for the qso's and hope too see you in the next one. 73-Bob W0YBS
lots of fun had the entire 2 hours no one around Dave
I've been off HF and without a rig for about a year. Just picked up a little YouKits HB1B Mk3 QRP rig to play with. Didn't know if I'd be on for this SKS, but it worked out so I could make a few contacts. I was running 4 watts to a Hustler mobile antenna attached to my mobile home here in FL. The little QRP rig did a great job! I am impressed with the receiver and filtering in it. Good to be back on and handing out my number.
This SKS started out at a pretty good clip, 18 QSOs the first hour. Well, good clip for me. Then software problems (was trying N1MM Logger, it changed my rig from SO2V to split and messed up my log). It took 35 minutes to get it straightened out and working right. Kinda spoiled the fun. Thanks for the QSOs. 73 Art W2NRA
Missed the first 10 minutes but condx on 20 were better than I expected when I first started. Went to 40 where condx were excellent and then finished on 80. Maybe propagation is better than we think most days but not many get on the air?? My P3 scope was ablaze with strong signals on 40 all evening.
Here is a W3NP "tip of the day": - you only need to send each item of your info one time unless you receive or expect to receive a marginal signal report.
Ran K3 at 100 watts to KT-34a and CF Zepp. Keys were the Vibroplex J-36 and German Junker.
73 de West Virginia
Worked only S&P tonight, looking for tonight's Bonus station - W8MU and found Don on 80, 40 and 20 meters, HooHa! I met some old friends along the way John-K4BAI, Art-W2NRA, Dave-W0YZZ, and Chas-K3WW.. nice to see you all again! Also had a QSO with a non-member, AF5XF and will be sending Matt my QSL with an SKCC Info card enclosed, maybe recruit us a new member! One can Hope!
DAYTON NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!!
Rusty.. nice to participate last 45min. W8MU on 20m.
Great conditions tonight for a change. Good Fun!
Thanks for the Sprint QSO's.
Well, 40 was quite lively tonight. Great sprint. See you all next time.
The bands seemed pretty good for us tonight. The bands were working as they normally do when they are good. 20 started strong but fell late, 40 was great all night long, and 80 started slow but really picked up at the end. We even went to 160M to give it a try although there wasn't anyone there. It was a great time by those of us that were there tonight.
K8KIC-40m with KD8VSQ logging
K8AQM and KE8CEW chewing the fat till 20m quit.
Lots of good signals on 40m so only went to 80m to work w8mu. Good to work old Waterway cw net friend Bob ka3ocs and local friend Larry k8tez. Fun!
Fun sprint. Tnx to all who copied my 5w sig. Ant end fed up 25 ft. 73 Ken
good night for radio in eastern Carolina (after all the rain).
Great sprint - 40m was hot! Thanks to the ops and organizers.
Another Fun Night.See you next time
Only on for 1 hour...
I only had 45 minutes to operate but still made 13 contacts. Thanks for listening for my 5w signal from my Flex 3000, dipole at 30 ft and 1941 Vibroplex Original. The bands seemed much better than the last couple of nights.
My first SKS. A fun and relaxing way to build up my straight key skills.
40 meters was in good shape for a change. Really fun night and best in a while. 72/73 from West Virginia, Dave
