80 meters was in beautiful condition tonight. Thanks to everyone for the contacts in another great SKCC Sprint! Happy New Year to all and I look forward to working many of you during K3Y January. 73 from the WV Appalachians!
POOOOR again...almost NIL here to me in socal..
DID hear K0RO and K8AQM on 20 meters but they herd me not...contact was W5TMT (TX)..CQ on 20m no joy.
HOPE K3Y/6 does better Jan 2017...AA6AC CA BOB 6276S..
Only 6 contacts in the first hour - 23 in the second. ALL, except one, were on 80M with 19 different States. Found K8AQM on both 80M and 160M. Happy New Year to all and hope to see a lot of activity in the January K3Y Special Event.
After a couple of missed SKS, feels good to be back. I wish propagation was back too! :) I was able to manage to contact 3 stations on 80m. No luck on 40 and 160m. Thanks to all of you who participate, and looking forward to K3Y event. 73, AC2RJ, Ruben.
My first SKS ever. Got started an hour late. Lots of fun...HNY...Mike AD5A
Happy New Year to all!
80m was hopping tonight but my little QRP squeak wasn't cutting it. Still nice to hear lots of good CW on the air.
Missed the first hour, and got pulled away for one thing or another until I finally gave up.. 5 contacts all on 80 meters with my MFJ9296 at 4.5 Watts. 72 to all.. Peter
Only played 15 minutes. Wasn't in the mood to put up with QRM.
Hello to all, operated throughout the two hour sprint. Did not receive any signals on 80,40 or 20 mtrs bands, both wwv & wwvh were weak copy hr in Alaska. Hopefully band conditions will be better for SKN. Thank you to the skcc group for making this sprint happen. 73 & Happy New Years to all ! de AL7JK
Just S&P for a few and enjoyed the qso's. 40 meters was in good shape. Happy New Year everyone.
Fun as always
HAPPY NEW YEAR,S LOT,S OF STNS HEARD ON 80M ONLY FEW ON 40 AND NIL. ON 160M 73, HANK PUG
Lots of QSB. Thanks for the Qs. Happy New Year to all. Had to QRT early. 73 Dale K3SEN Elecraft K-Line, MyAntenna EFHW 4010.
Best SKS yet. Started on 20 but never found K8AQM. Worked a few on 20 and 40 then gave up on 20 and split my time CQing on 40 and tuning on 80 and then swapped. Never found K8AQM on 40 either, but with two minutes to go switched to 160, saw one big signal on the scope and he signed SKS so I dropped in my call, and it turned out to be the AQM gang. Sorry I only got half a sweep. Got lost sending on occasion when the 2nd radio noise got me confused(sorry John).
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all, I will be a 1 year member by mid January. Hope to work lots of K3Y stations and take a few turns myself.
FT1000MP, Alpha 78, 1 KW, TH6DXX, dipole, zepp, inverted vee. Ten minutes late getting started. 20M open short skip to W8 area. 40M open to almost all of US and Canada except stations closer to west GA than NC. 80M good to eastern US out as far as CO. Thanks for all QSOs. 73 and Happy New Year to all. 73, John, K4BAI.
TS-590SG 100watts Dipoles McElroy P-500 bug
Found most of my contacts on 80. Fun, as always.
Happy New Year to all.
Sounded aa if I had inserted a 20 dB pad in line with antenna,
My biggest disappointment was not being able to break the pileup that W3NP in WV had going. I need to confirm WV on 80 meters. My 15 watts wasn't sufficient.
Want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Got to spend a few minutes at the beginning. Was delighted to catch bonus station K8AQM as my first QSO. ON To K3Y !
Great fun with my "cronies" tonight. 20m was a bust but 40, 80 and 160 were great! 160m g1ve us 21 Qs and only one station couldn't be pulled out of the noise. Thanks to all for there calls. Nice to break the 100 Q mark.
Conditions not good for me, but I didn't give up and stuck it out for the entire 2hrs. 73 to all and Happy New Year.
I did not hear Ted tonight but we are planning to see him on Jan 7th as KS8KCC/K3Y/8...Boy the work horse tonight was 80 meters as usually reliable 40 was very poor here...About all the sigs were S-9 here tonight but the strongest was Bob KG6MC my last contact so thanks Bob...73's & hope to work some of you in the K3Y event...
Had fun. The two hours sure blew by though. Tried and tried to get the bonus station but the MI to MI propagation wasn't there tonight for my QRP.
Band conditions poor, but lots of fun. Thanks all.
Good to be back on the air. Good to work my long time friend Ted on all 4 bands they were on for maximum bonus! 73, Tim K9TM
Touch conditions here in Maine but still had fun. Sorry a couple of you I could not quite copy when you answered my CQ
Well, the bands were a bit better this SKS. 20 was dead, 2 QSO's on 40m. and 80m. was the best band here in WNY.
Happy New Year to all SKCC'ers.
Nice lead in on what to expect when I get to be K3Y/7. Nasty conditions. I hope 2 CU all on SKN. 73
Only got 5 last night with the 7410 @ 5w with the inverted vee at 30 ft. Used the cootie for the sprint. Just worked 40 and it was crowded.
My thanks to NS3X for my sole contact. Only heard
a few, but they were really weak. Nothing on 20
meters, about three on 40 meters and nothing on 80
meters. Either everyone was watching the bowl games or the bands were kaput! Used a K-2 @ 4 watts with a G5RV up 35 feet. Happy New Year to
one and all. 72/73, Phil
That was fun, glad I got to get one more in before the end of year. I missed Ted and his "cronies"....
My fault not theirs.
Happy New Year and see you in K3Y!!
I was calling CQ for over an hour and I guess no one could hear it
40 was pretty marginal for the first hour, so I went down to 80 which was a little better, but not as many booming signals this time around. Happy New Year to everyone and see you in a few days in the K3Y event!
Missed out on the first hour. Had fun but had a lot of noise this evening. Looking forward to K3Y 2017
Started a little late and conditions were fairly good. Only 29 Q's though.
Thank you to all that called me. I love SKCC!
Happy New Year my friends!
Didn't hear anyone on 20 meters. 40 was the mainstay as usual.
Happy New Year everyone. See you next month with K3Y.
Wow. Ruff conditions. Two contacts on 40 and three on 80 meters. Hearing K8AQM on 1820 but no QSO. Fingers crossed for MUCH better conditions in K3Y.
A fun night, esp. on QRP! Good sigs hr in Middle TN.
K2 at 5 watts to EFHW at 30 ft. Junker key.
Happy New Year!!
Great Time. Always look forward to SKS. Not much going on 20 from SC but 80 was jumping and 40 not too bad.
Bad bands nice to hear gud friends .
All the best in the new year to everyone.
73 Mark KI0I 6585s
Great fun. Tnx and Happy New Year to all.
Enjoyed hearing all the members tonight - conditions were working well for 40 and 80 on the last hour. TNX for the bonus points from K8AQM! Happy New Years everyone!
Only worked for 10 mins before the kids needed attention. Oh, well! :)
Crazy band conditions here. Still had fun. 73 all! N0UMP Bill Outlaw #3
Tough conditions .... 40 meters had a high noise level .. dit get to FL twice K3SEN and N4OW .. worked old friends W5ZR and K4BAI ... all battery power here and used the Llaves straight key tonight ... FUN !!!
Enjoyable time on SKS, bands didn't seem to be very good, but that is the norm these days. Thanks everyone and looking forward to K3Y next month! 73 and Happy New Year!!
That was fun. First 2 hour sprint.
80 was so-so, 40 was in good shape with a great path across the gulf to TX. Best wishes to all for
a Happy New Year. 73 de N4ow, AL
Nice to get a cpl cw contacts. Been a little while, even missed the last WES do to hospital stay and 2 surgeries. Hope to be able to do some K3Y/8 next month. Tnx es 73 Randy
I had a great time, lots of fun.
FT-450 at 100w into a 100ft. loaded inv. V up
35ft. Used my old faithful Junker straight key.
Thanks to all and Happy New Year! 73, John
I heard many stations on, but could not get much response. Called the bonus station on two bands, but no contact. Just not my night... or my antenna is on the ground.
Good nite for a sprint, I had a great time, worked all contacts on 40, 80 not productive from my qth. 73's to all and Happy New Year!
It's been too long since I participated in SKS. Wow! It was the fastest two hours of the day! 73, Glen
The Final 2016 2-hour Sprint was great fun.
Thank you for the 22 QSO's (11Q's 40m + 11Q's 80m)
Happy New Year! CU in the SKCC Qlog in 2017.
Found band conditions a bit sad. Just got done refurbishing a 1913 Model X for a new member of SKCC, W9XF. Decided to try it out in the sprint before sending it back to him. It worked great for 46 qso's. Thanks to all for the q's and will see you in the next one-Bob-W0YBS
Not much luck on 40m, so worked 80m with the 40m dipole! Thanks to those who put up with the weak signal.
Family obligations. No time again. When I got on 20m was empty. About the only signal I saw on my rig's scope was K8AQM. Very nice signal on 40, 80 & 160. Thank you Ted and cronies did a great job.
Static crashes on 80 here. Lot's of fun and looking forward to K3Y 73..
Bands really bad tonight. Had 2 qsos on 20. 40 meter sigs down and noisy. 80 very good until the last 30 min or so then sigs dropped off and band noisy. This is the first time I have ever ran more than 100 watts in a SKCC event. Used my Elecraft K Line at 500 watts out to a 130' CF Zepp at 45'.
73 de West Virginia
Happy New Year, everybody! Hope to see y'all for SKN.
It's been a long time since I've used the old Ham-Key.
Good practice for SKN too.
Wow, this was a hard one! The propagation gods were not smiling on us tonight. John(K4BAI) I heard you but enough to copy! Ted..Best Signal on the Bands tonight! Here comes 2017 and K3Y !
Bravo Zulu !
QRN still rough on 40/80. Managed 3 contacts on 40 then same on 80. 5w too weak for K8AQM to hear me on 160. IC-703 to 240' doublet at 30' with KK1 key. Happy New Year!
I missed a bunch of WES and SKS during 2016. I hope to make up for in 2017.
Happy New Year and hope to work a few on SKN.
Well, conditions weren't great here. We started with a S7 noise level which dropped to S4 at the end of the night on 40 M. Never heard a beep on 20 M. Fun as always. See you all next month.
Thanks to those who heard my mighty 3W, hi. C U in K3Y! 72/73
Only had 45 minutes this month. Still busy with holiday stuff. Hope to do better next month. Happy New Year to all.
Had trouble with my laptop running HDSDR. It sometimes freezes going from receive to transmit or going from transmit to receive. Well I managed a couple of contacts anyway. Rig is a Peaberry V2 into a Hardrock-50, running about 40 Watts. Thanks for the contacts. 73, Art
On for about an hour, bands not so good on this end, though had some nice QSOs, thanks to all that had patience with me. 73, see y'all next year.
Have not worked SKS in quite awhile. Much fun.First time getting the bonus station and I think it was off the back of his beam.
FT450 and a dipole. Finished with chores and decided 30min was enough time to play. Managed to find K8AQM on 40m right off the bat and a handful of others. 40m went to seed and I moved to 80m started low moving up and found Ted again! FB! Moved the dial for a run as the buzzer rang. Thanks for the QSO es HNY! 73 Mike
40m noisy, 80m better, with static crashes. Hope to hear everyone in K3Y. Happy New Year!
I got on for a few minutes during the first hour. Twenty was closed. I made one contact on forty and two on eighty. I used my ICOM 7410, my stealth dipole and a Speed-X key.
Happy New Year to all.
Another really fun sprint for me. 40 meters was not good here and 80 meters was rough. But still had a lot of fun. Best wishes to everyone for a safe, healthy and Happy New Year from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. Best 72 & 73
