PRETTY GOOD SKS this month. Several stations on the air..herd R7DA Russian DX calling for SKS but no joy here..Found N0TA on 15m and 20m. TNX ALL..N0TA, KA5PVB, K7VM, K6ELQ, W3NP, KF7WNS, N0KQ. AA6AC BOB CA 6276S QSL'S FOLLOW..
I was using my new LNR SKCC member key purchased at Dayton last week. A bit of atmospheric QRN here, but propagation on 20 & 40 was OK.
A fun sprint. Just back from Dayton Hamvention - here's a picture of our booth before the doors open.
Spent the first hour on 20M - then had to leave!
Only one new number this time, but heard many old
friends on the band - 73 until next time de Jack
This was my first cw contest of any kind. As a QRS operator with few cw QSO's under my belt, this was an opportunity to get some experience. Thanks!
Only time for three contacts, all on 20 meters. My mighty DSW20 at 3 watts made it to CA , MO, and ERA
Best part is that I noticed this morning that Alex R7DA is now a C and I assume my contact helped. Congrats, Alex!
Cu all next time. Peter
A short but fun evening
Been doing a lot of Qrp operating lately, had some Qrp radios still hooked up to my various antennas when the SKS sprint started, just on a whim, decided "why not". Used a transmitter from 1981 called " Little Joe" from Arrl in Sept 81 Qst, also a 20 mtr bandpass filter. Fun, blast from my younger days. 73 to all de AL7JK
Three quick qso's, good to hear all the signals. I enjoy the comments & seeing the pix's posted. 73 rick
A late start with poor conditions made it interesting. I started on 20M and ended up on 40M for the remainder of the time. N0TA was prominent on both bands working many stations. I'm still compiling 9 years of SKCC operation to acquire the "S" after my number. The adi. file format is becoming familiar to me with all the entries. I'm just finishing 2011 and moving to 2012.
Seemed very busy. K4BAI was the only station I found and answered. A few guys called in that I could not pull through the noise but most were pretty solid.
FT1000MP, Alpha 91b, 1 KW, TH6DXX, zepp, dipole. Took off 15 minutes for supper with XYL. Glad to have met many of you in Dayton. Thanks for all QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI.
Only on for an hour, but 20M was hopping. Thanks to all who copied my QRP 4W signal. 73, Steve K4JPN
15 watts with a TenTec Argonaut V into low hanging dipole. 3 QSOs on 20and 5 QSOs on 40.
Stayed on 20m until the band fizzled out then switched to 40m for the last 20 minutes but we're still in daylight here on the left coast at that time so band was still asleep. 73, Tony
One non-SKCC stn logged (W8TR). 2-Qs on 40m and 22-Qs on 20m. Last 5-min CQing on 40m netted NO QSOs!
Worked 40M only. Condx were every good. As usual, had a good time. 73, Gene
Ken, N8KR-good to hear you..It's starting to look a lot like summer around here ...73's Larry K8TEZ
First QSO was R7DA on 20m. Pretty cool with my QRP. Called him again later on 40m but no answer that time. Bands were open and seems like everyone I called had multiple callers. Managed 14 QSOs.
A good turnout for this SKS. Bands were a bit noisy here in WNY from approaching t-storms. 20m. was open well into the 1st hr. 73 & remember our fallen Veterans this Memorial Day.
Although I ONLY had 5 QSO's I had a lot of fun trying to make contacts. It's really hard to break pile-ups with 3.75 watts of power from a G5RV antenna @ 30 FT.
April Sprint got me 100 points because I worked the "BONUS BABY". Didn't hear him this time!!
Thanks to those that heard my CQ's and answered or heard me reply to their CQ!
See ya'll next month, for more fun and games!!!
Nice night worked 80, 40 and 20 meters
I got bored with it after making only 8 Q's in the first hr so the XYL and I went for a bicycle ride.
Not a total bust though:
4 new SKCC Numbers
4 towards TxN
8,841 Prefix Points
Fun time was had. Picked up two states needed for CW WAS.
Conditions must have not been really good. My 5 watt signal seemed limited. Hope the next Sprint will be better condx.
Thanks to all that called. Thanks to those that called to say hello. Rig KX3 @ 5 W using an old Viz cootie key . Many thanks to the volunteers that make these sprints possible. 72, 73 Don
This SKS, I worked pretty casually. Mostly S&P. Lots of signals around on 20m, 40m, and 80m. I got some new numbers and also got just a little closer to Senator.
Missed the first 45 mins of the sprint, but had fun anyway. I stayed on 20m,too much QRN here on bands lower. I sent the old "T" on end of number a couple times and had to correct with a "S",old habits die hard hihi.
Nice to work many old friends and make some new.
It was a surprise to hear Arkansas and Illinois on 20m.
73 all and thanks for the Q`s, Mark KI0I 6585S
Finally found some time to make a SKS after several months of missing them. Did a personal best of 20 QSOs in the first 1.5hrs. Ran mostly on 20m for the first 45min until 20 closed here in SC. Checked 80 with absolutely nothing heard, then moved to 40 where I found everyone stacked on top of each other. Took a while to get the last 5 QSOs in the log to make an even 20 as it sounded like a crowded elementary school cafeteria on 40m, but with CW instead of screaming kids. Still don't have filters in the IC718, but I'm not sure it would have helped much in this case. Lots of fun though, first contest head copying direct into the log instead of to paper first then to log; an exciting step!
Thanks to all for the May SKS QSO's: 50% 20m, 25% 40m, and 25% 80m this time. 73 - Dave
I really enjoyed this 2 hour Sprint. It appeared the 20 and 40 meter bands were in good shape here in South GA with contacts from the entire lower 48 including Canada! Looking forward to next month - C U then!
Missed the last few. Nice to be back.
Fun sprint. Worked all SKCC frequencies from 15 to 80m. No contacts on 7.114 or 3.550. Thanks for the Q's. K3, KPA500 @500w, doublet & vertical, Begali Spark key, K2RFP Sprint Logger.
Very noisy night. Made a few anyhow and tnx to all those who hung in there. 73....Outlaw #3
GREAT sprint! I've been absent for a while but good to hear all the strong signals and great ops. Special thanks to Alex, R7DA, for being out there. Thanks to all and the SKCC crew for running these events.
Real life intrusions kept me busy - jumped in for the last 15 minutes.
Got in for the last hour, and to my surprise made a contact with R7DA in Russia on 20m after 9pm EDT !
Used my KX3 at 90 watts and EFHW vertical wire antenna and TinyBug.
Will have my new KX2 this Thursday for the next WES in June, can't wait !
Had to get my one in, Had a busy day and not enough fun time.
Well I didn't have much time for this one.
Nine whole QSOs :(
But my last QSO @ 0200 was with John, N0TA :)
Spent a few minutes on the bands. It was a beautiful evening for outdoor activities instead of ham radio
Kenwood TS-530S, Mosley tribander, Begali Spark, and K2RFP Sprint Logger
Evening cut short due to T'Storms. Used "new" Czech Army key.
poor propagation conditions,
grateful to Nat - PS7HD by my one QSO,
CUALL in next SKS
The conditions are terrible, HI, CUL, TKS Dr Cha PS7AW, my only QSO, my Marconi PS 213A, best 73.
lots of fun 20 Was great Never did hear Bonus Station
A fun sprint using my new Icom IC-7300 (rig on left in photo). Stayed on 40 meters for the whole spint. Had 23 QSOs the first hour, only 7 the second. Thanks for the Qs. 73 de Art W2NRA
It has been some time since I have participated in a SKS. I only had a half hour or so. Hoping to get back into the swing of things soon.
Stayed on 20 which wasn't in too bad a shape. Used my K3 @ 100w to the KLM KT-34A. Key was the Vibroplex Anni edition bug. 73 de West Virginia
Propagation on 20 and 40 was very good here, quite different from the last WES. Fun event.
See y'all for the WES next month.
Got a late start because a meeting went late. Still had a good time running on 20m. Thanks to everyone for the QSOs.
First SKS in months that I had a more than a few minutes to get on the air. Thanks John for bonus points on two banks.
I started off great---but only 3QSOS in the last 30 mins-- good fun for me//cul 73//ED
I stayed on 40M the whole time. The band seemed pretty open, but not particularly long. From Ohio, I worked mostly east of the Mississippi, with the occasional contact in MO, TX, OK, LA. Great fun, as always. It was especially nice to hear a couple of folks I met at Hamvention last weekend.
Fun as always! I stuck with casual S&P this event, except for (an attempt at) running on 80m early on. Thanks to Ron/N4PGJ for my sole 80m QSO! Twenty meters was good throughout; 40m had good signals, but very high QRN here in far-southern IL. Thanks everyone! CUL ~73~
Used my new LNR LD5 xmiter. Output pwr 5 watts into a 64 ft end fed sloper. Key was my old SpeedX straight key. Only operated 40m. Tnx to all who copied my QRP sig.
My best showing in SKS to date. Parked my trusty HW 16 on 40 meters for the entire time, lots of activity, but propagation seemed fairly short from my QTH until the last 20 minutes or so. Unfortunately no N0TA for me. Picked up several new numbers, slowly finishing up Tx6. Lots of fun, thanks to all.
Only 3 contacts...Just got my QRP station setup here at Camp Edison where I will be for the next 5 months.
Using Ten-Ten R40-20 at 4-5 watts depending on battery power. Antenna is LNR Trail-Friendly end-fed wire up in a tree about 25 feet.
72 to all

Gave my newly built homebrew 6L6 a workout for this sprint! It worked well! Used my Navy Vapor-Proof key to protect me from the high voltage. Was rock-bound, hope I didn't QRM others too much. Wish I had a better receiver. Sorry, I know I lost a couple of you because I couldn't pick you out of the QRM. Look forward to the next WES/SKS.
Wonderful event - 20 was good to me for a large portion of the sprint. I worked N0TA on 20 and 40 - I think this is the first time I have contacted the bonus station twice. Thanks to all who participated and to the organizers.
I confess I just operated to catch some new numbers, and several were found. Nice to hear all the activity.
I had to work late so I only made it in time for the last 30 minutes but conditions were good so I didn't get skunked with my mighty 5 watts. It looks like I had a pipeline to CA from TX on 20m, I moved to 40m just before the end and it was great to see how many stations were on. I found N0TA but couldn't bust the pileup. The station this time was a Flex 3000 at 5 watts into an 80m multiband dipole keyed by a 1941 Vibroplex Original.
Fair band conditions in WV for a change. Thanks to everyone and again had a great time. 73, Dave
Great showing/Great operating by all again. Finally had some decent 20m conditions and an antenna that was working to boot! Thanks to Alex R7DA for being a DX highlight of the sprint for me with a big signal. These things are just a blast. I always look forward to them. 73 Greg
