Always fun! Strange conditions though. I've never seen 80M like that in many years. There was zero QRN and I actually had the preamplifier on to hear stations. I finally found Jason for bonus score. KX3/KXPA100 @ 50W into a 135 ft doublet. 73 from WV.
Did check on SKS....K3Y event was in operation...
Did hear a few stations calling CQ but CLOSE or
under a K3Y/xx station SO could not respond....
Did not hear bonus station at that time..Did try few CQ's on 15m but NO joy...20m was the only band open to me and was in use for K3Y event....

It was a good evenings entertainment. I didn't here anyone on 15 Mtrs, but made contacts on 40 and 20 Mtrs. I'm trying to attach a photo of my Novice key from 1952. It a Speed-X H15.682 from E.F.Johnson.
Twenty meters was pretty much closed for me. Couldn't hear anyone and no answers to my various CQs. Tried answering a few CQs on 40 but not no responses. My antenna doesn't tune very well on 40 so the various CQs I answered, I got no responses. Will try again next month.
Wow! Strange SKS, 40m seemed hot to both coasts from here in the middle. Thanks for the QSOs, Jim
Only had 30 minutes operating time during the SKS, but had a wonderful time while I was operating. Hope to CU on the bands during the month.
Had to qrt at 0130
Bands were not very good tonight. Thanks for the Qs. 73 Dale K3SEN Elecraft K Line into a stealth flagpole double Boozka antenna.
New member. This should put me over 100 members worked. Found my novice Skillman Deluxe H.S.K under the desk when went digging for it. It has been cleaned up a little, as has one of my old bugs.
Enjoyed the contacts. As Always, thank for the QSOs. 73 all... Bob
Kenwood TS-440S into a 134 foot inverted L. Used my new Begali Spark.
1 QSO on 20M
18 QSO on 40M
logged a couple of K3Y stns.
A bit of a late start but otherwise a good time! Thanks for a few more for my Senator Quest (only 34 more to go!). :)
For this event I used my 1980's Vibroplex Original Deluxe bug:
Propagation not good, but that's the challenge. Had a good time. Thank you all for a good time.
80 Meters was in great shape up here on Lake Erie.We missed most of the "Big Snow" but it's still a Bear up here...73's & Thanks to everyone who helps put these sprints together for us.....
Stayed on 80 meters. The band sounded great on my Butternut HF-6V vertical tonight. TNX for the QSOs. 73, Bill
Had a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next one. Received many welcomes to SKCC. Thanks again.
Even though I made 19 contacts as K3Y/7 during this SKS, just count me as PRESENT. I can't fairly claim any standing because I was spotting myself on the sked page to aid several ops who were desperately seeking K3Y/7.
I greatly appreciate the courtesy of the SKS participants who patiently waited for me to fill those anniversary event requests before jumping in to snag a contact with me for SKS credit.
It was a fun two hours as you folks really kept me hopping. I was working with two computers and two keys (cootie at the left hand for you speedy fellas, and the NT9K Pro Pump at the right for those ops who called a tad slower). I'll probably be awake half the night, coming down from the rush.
Pretty gud band conditions on 40 & 80. Nice SKS.
Rig: IC-7000 at 50w. dipole up 25 ft.
Well I was short on time so make my 2 I WAS THERE contacts! Just jumped on 40 meters with the FT817 and the 80 meter dipole with the Vibroplex straight key. Thanks for the contacts and CU next month.
Thank You for all of the QSO's.

First time doing a sprint. Had a fun time, wish the bands were better.
Just a little while before SKS started, I realized that I couldn't work it as normal because I was signed up to operate K3Y/4 for the 2-hour duration.
So I worked SKS, but I'm not turning in a score, since I posted my whereabouts on the K3UK sked page. Against SKS rules! But good for non-participants to find K3Y/4. I even took a couple of QSY requests from OPs trying to fill gaps in their K3Y dance cards.
Other than that, I operated pretty much the same way as I do a regular SKS. I called CQ a while on 40m until it slowed down. Then I did some S&P. Then QSY to 80m and do the same thing again. It didn't seem like I made that many QSOs. But at the end, I counted 18 in the log with 16 unique SPCs and a bunch of C/T/S numbers. So, I actually did better than I usually do.
20m was dead at my QTH. 40m had very good long condx and 80m was wide open, too. But some strange propagation, in my opinion. Lots of one-way prop and odd QSB.
My best sprint, lots of fun.
Good to see all the familiar people tonight. 20 and 40 were in pretty good shape. 73/72, Gary
... not a bad showing considering all the K3Y activity all month. Worked 40 and 80 meters tonight. Many thanks for all the contacts folks ... and even managed to catch Jason, N8XE on 80 meters with a nice signal. 73 and CU ALL DWN LOG, jack
Only worked for a little over an hour, but 40 was open across the country!
Started on 20 - it was in pretty good shape, just not many stations. Spent most of the rest of the time on 40, but I did briefly check out 80. Thanks for the Q's. K3/KPA500, doublet & Vertical, Spark key, K2RFP SprintLogger.
Worked N8XE as my last QSO ! 80 was very active in this SKS and the QRN rose as the night wore on. See ya all Net month, 73 de N4ow AL
IC706 at 80 W, Butternut HF6V gnd mtd w/o radials, 1958 Viborplex Presentation. Heard more on 40, but just couldn't get thru. C U next month!
Ran the first hour on 40M using my inverted V to hopefully work stations farther out. Headed down to 80M on the vertical to help those closer in. Had a great time being the bonus station. QSB was really deep out towards the east on 80M. Sorry if I was unable to hear you. Used the Lionel J-36 this evening. It is my favorite bug (being that it was my first bug). 73 everyone. I enjoyed it!!
Got a late start after the power went out. Got the battery hooked up but lost some air time. It was a fun sprint after I got everything working. And now the power is back on.
Thanks for the qso's and will be back next month.
40 and 80 meters -good conditions

Thank you for my good first go at a SKS. I have a lot of room for improvement in my way I work the key and radio while I use my computer to log/copy. Typically I copy with a pen and paper, and "log-the-Q" later but I am trying to go paperless :-) I would like to work every station; but last night I missed a few. Thank you for your patience; and for those I missed it was on my end.
73 es God Bless SKCC and see you on the next SKS!
P.S. Thank you Jason, N8XE for your time as bonus station. I listened for you; but no joy. dit dit
Hard times, hi, best 73 for all. PS 213 Marine Morse Key, TNX Nathan PS7HD
Some QSB on the bands tonite but all in all not too bad.
Usual HB1B with bencher straight key QRP on 20M. Things started well on 20 but faded quickly.
My quest for WAS QRP SKCC is stuck in a rut
lately. Hopefully summer will open things up a
It was fun to jump in for a while after a long absence. Nice to hear and work some old-timers and some new folks too!
Oops, almost forgot SKS, so barely made the last 35 minutes and only worked 80 Meters.
Hope everybody in the mid-Atlantic states is getting dug out by now. We got lucky, only 7" of the light fluffy stuff.
Lots of QRN. Tough night to hear anyone. Hopefully better next month.
Another good SKS. 20m was good in the beginning but few there,Tony was blasting(10/9)into Florida from CA as K3Y/6, 40m was good and 80m was noisy but lots of activity.
For me it was a good January SKS. I participated in S&P mode and started on 40M since 20M was already closed. Propagation seemed especially good to my N. West on 40. I then went to 80M where most of the stations seemed to be. Notably....Bumped into W7GVE, Ed who I haven't heard from in a long time. Also, where was the MO gang, I usually qso at least 1 of them. Used my "Slab" straight key for most of the Q's. Anyway, I thought it was a good SKS. 73 to all and will be looking for you in the upcoming WES. Tom W4TMW
Good fun --- started on 20 but it only lasted for 20 mins-- made 6 new numbers-- now to put my brand new FT DX1200 on the air-- hope I dont screw up to badly..73 ED/W7GVE
Fun as usual but heard nothing on 20m or above
Love those bonus points! AND 2 new ops for the K3Y Quest.
Poor condx for me - only band had any luck on was 80m. Key was my old speed-X straight key. Power 5 watts to dipole at 30 ft. Tnx to all who copied my signal.
Could only get on during last few minutes, but managed to make 4 contacts, all on 40m. Used my IC-7200, 50 watts to an all-band vertical (elevated). Kent brass-on-wood straight key (my favorite key). CU all next one.
I keep hearing and working the same folks at each sprint...
Wonderful sprint with great operators! Thanks to the organizers for another fun event. Tom
Well I only lasted for about a half hour. My 5 watts couldn't quite make it through to N5DY in OK, but I was 599 in KS. Couldn't hear the usual (closer) stations on 40 meters either. Strange conditions. Thanks for both of my contacts. 73, Art
Good sprint and other than 20m dying half way through the bands were good. My puny-weak 5w station made the majority of its contacts on 40m tonight. I'm going to try 80m next time before Spring sets in! Rig tonight is Flex 3000 at 5 watts into a dipole at 30 ft. Key is a 1941 Vibroplex Original. It's nice to hear so many proficient bug fists on the air, hopefully mine will be one of them someday! 73 and thanks for another great Sprint.
Thanks all! Pete
Stayed on 80m, pretty good conditions.
Thanks to all.
