Almost missed it - to much T'giving prep going on around here!
First SKS in a long time. Six QSOs S&P on 20M, 40M, and 80M. Then started running 80M 3.549.50 and worked 21 stations. When 80M dried up, I got one more on 40M. A total of 28 QSOs in about 1-1/4 hours. I never did hear KB2SEO.
this is first sprint that I've actively worked in awhile.
Terrible condx, but a lot of fun.
Just time for a few contacts....QRP on 40 with DSW-40 and
on 80 with OHR-100A. Of my six contacts, 4 moved me closer to S (23 to go), and one of those 4 also added to my T listing. A good night for me, especially since I am usually not home for the SKS. 73/72 til next time.. Peter
Very short SKS for me, too many important phone calls being received.
Felt the urge to go Qrp today during SKS. Heard many stations on 20 mtrs during the beginning, called with no takers. Towards the end on 40 mtrs K6JEB, Jack dug down into the noise level after several tries and repeats pulled it off, tnx !! 73 to all, another fun SKS Cul !
Good condx. in Mo. thanks to those that answered my CQ's 73 rick
Happy Thanksgiving to all from Frosty Maine...
73 Ed K1EDG
Did somebody on 20 forget to pay the light bill? 20 was dead dead dead the whole Sprint. Missed all the western regulars, but had a good time, anyway. Hoping for better condx next time. 73 to all for a great Thanksgiving.
20M provided the majority of my contacts until it dropped out about 45 minutes into the Sprint. I tried 40M, but it was pretty crowded. 80M provided four QSO's, but it hadn't really opened up from this end.
VE4AEA was first in the log on 20M and K9WA gave me an IL QSO at the end on 80M.
Used my old WWII army surplus J-36 Bug. She works as good in 2015 as she did in 1943. Thanks for the QSO's. C U next sprint.
80 conditions were very good, 40 was spotty. Had to use old J38 tonight since my SpeedX has developed some sort of intermittent.
First SKS since my return to Florida. I need a better 40 meter antenna! Thanks for the Qs. 73 Dale K3SEN
Great time... as always. Finally got VT! Tnx Dave, KC1APK!!! Within 5 of getting WAS with SKCC members.
Thanks to all for the contacts and an exciting evening. 73,
Kenwood TS440S into a 134 foot inverted L. I used a combo of my Navy FP and my Kent SP-1 modified Sideswiper this evening.
Got a late start due to a wrong entry in my calendar and only had one hour to work with. Somewhat OK conditions tonight. Stayed on 40m only. Thanks for all the contacts and cu next time.
Ant: OCF dipole inv-V
Managed to get on and work 3 members I hadn't worked before.
Only had a few minutes to S&P tonight. For the first time 20m was pretty much useless here. 40m was where the action was. Hope to spend more time next month. 73 de K6ELQ Tony
Off to a good start but Murphy paid a visit and my rate took a real hit. Inquire within, hi!
Otherwise I had a great time with the new Vari-speed on the Vibroplex (easier change of speed with more granularity) and a DSP (Timewave DSP-59+) filter for some real effective QRM/N reduction.
Started on 20...slow, 40 was good but 80 was great! As usual a great time and first time in a long time as a single op station.
Had a good time as usual. Thank you all. 73, Gene
Did not hear KB2SEO but band was long tonight on 40 so we worked CA..WY..OR..WA ect & met a few new one's..Was nice to meet KF7ZQM a rather new ham in WY..73's & hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving...
Wondered why signals were so bad. Looked over at my antenna patch panel and the 40 M antenna was connected to the 20 M rig and the 20 M antenna was connected to the 40 M rig. Switched antennas and all is OK. One of those days. Good activity.
20m. was nil, but 40 & 80 were good here in WNY.
Rig: IC-7000 at 50w. into dipole up 25 ft. with straight key. Happy Thanksgiving & keep warm ! 73
Used the FT817 at 5 watts and an 80 meter dipole. Not a good showing but I was their! 20 was slow and 40 was packed. CUL
20 meters was DEAD! Last two contacts were on 80 meters with the rest on 40. Hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving and see you in the next WES. Used K-2 with G5RV up 35 feet. 72/73, Phil
Hi everybody, it has been a while since I participated. McElroy straight key, 100W, G5RV, and IC746PRO. Spent the 1st hour on 40m, and then moved to 80m. Happy Thanksgiving and 73 to all!
Had fun again. Really enjoy these sprints
Oh well, tried to participate for the entire time but my K2 lost audio 1 hour into the sprint with Bill, K5AWF. Sorry Bill. I think I have the problem solved. Anyway, lots of stations on. 73 and Happy Thanksgiving.
Just about missed the SKS all together , only worked a few minutes, got time & days all mixed up , sure heck getting old , Happy Thanksgiving to all. 73 Don
A few big signals tonight and a few weak ones but no one escaped the fading in and out of the band conditions on 40. It's been awhile since I've done the SKS from my home QTH on the classic TS-520S and my TAC bug and what a blast I had! Thank you to all I worked! See you next month!
Thanks for the fun, 73
20m was dead as a hammer here in TN. But 40m was alive, well, and no QRN. Unusual condx for me, though. I didn't work anyone closer than 300 miles and heard/worked very few of the usual big guns.
Best QSO for me was Gary KF7WNS who was QRP from Oregon. Very unusual to hear the West coast so early in the evening here in East TN, especially QRP.
Didn't get a huge number of QSOs, but did okay and got several new numbers. This was a really nice SKS for me.
I couldn't work the full 2 hrs. but still had a fun evening.
Lots of fun but kind of weird time of day for reception here - 20m is still strong at 4pm in Portland, but most were on 40m. 40m is just getting it's legs and comes on stronger by 5pm, so have to do the 20/40m shuffle the first hour. Many thanks to KK0I/Jack and AA1JD/Matt who both held in there to make the QSO...Portland to WI and MA on 40m that early in the evening were great catches! See everyone next month. Don
Got a late start and 20m was already dead. 40m wasn't too good here. But did get one QRP on 80m. Thanks Jack/K6JEB for two bands. See you next month.
just a lil time again. nice to work old pal Eldon W0SZV on top band. A few guys come to top band but why not more?
Anyway, I hope you had fun where ever u were.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and 73 from KI0I.
Started about half an hour late. Began S&P on 40m and went to 80m after about 30 minutes. I don't normally get much on 80m but was surprised to hear so many stations. Tried to work as many as I heard but there was a lot of competition! A great time for me. TNX for the QSOs.
Spent most of the time on 40 ... managed a few on 80 meters and snagged one on 20 meters. The bands sounded pretty good tonight. Thanks for all the contacts ... 73 and catch you all down the log for the next one. 73, jack
I enjoyed this month's 2 hour Sprint very much. Worked 80 meters most of the time and picked up a few new numbers. Thanks to all who participated and hope to see you in December!
Nice conditions. Worked both coasts on 40.
Always a lot of fun! 40M seemed to be getting worse as the night wore on... maybe it was me! Thanks to the organizers.
First SKS since August 2014. Always a lot of fun. Thanks for the contacts!
Still sick, just didn't feel like sitting there 2 hours
Thanks for the QSO's. I was very pleased to see activity on 80 meters and it was quiet. I had a lot of noise on 40 and 20 faded early. Fun as always and a big thanks to the folks that put these events together. 73, Jim
Did not do much first hour but 80 sounded so good I stayed on 80 for quite awhile. Think almost everyone went there because 40 went quiet. Thanks for the ears that picked out my 1 watt and cootie key. Here is a picture of my highly sophisticated cootie key.
First time working the SKS after the big shack remodel. Good to be pounding brass again. I used my Swedish Key and my Lionel J36 Bug. Thanks for such a great event!!
Only had about 25 minutes tonight, but enjoyed all 25 of them : )
Decided what the heck, and ran the amplifier for no particular reason (other than the fact that I will be QRP all weekend in CQWW).
See you all next month!
73 de Marty, N9SE
I was pleasantly surprised by the number of folks on 80 meters...
Low: 1629S K8AQM
High: 12335T K9TM
Nearest my own number: +28 10751T KI8JY
My key: Czech Army
Wow! This SKS was the most fun yet. I was able to work QSOs the entire two hours, mostly on 80. I look forward to next month. 73 Glen
Most of the action was on 40meters. As always a great time with the cootie key and 1 watt.
Only had a few minutes to operate. Thanks to KB2SEO for calling me.
Using HB1B again with bencher straight key. Only on
20M which shut down pretty quickly. Thanks for
the QSO'S, the sprints- CU next time!
Had a good time. still trying to figure out the new rig. Elecraft K3s at 100w, 160m loop up 25ft. cootie key. half my qso's tonight from MD. caught 2 Missouri outlaws. KI0I and K2HT
Many good sigs on 40 and 80. Thanks everyone. 73.
I missed most of the sprint but was able to operate for the last 40 minutes. 40M didn't sound very good so I spent the entire time on 80M where most of the signals heard were 599. CU next time.
Only 3 Qso's on 20 - K0VVV (CO), K6JEB (CA), and K1NV (NV). Went to 40 and found most sigs to be weak and watery, with a lot of stns on top of each other - strange condx. Then to 80 where things were much better. Did not hear KB2SEO.
RIG: K3 with CF Zepp. Vibroplex bug and German WW2 straight key. 73 de West Virginia
Apologies to all for my fist tonight. Working a straight key with an incessant cough while under the influence of a really *good* cough medicine doesn't make for a steady hand.
Had fun anyway -- I think!
Cheers to all. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Enjoyed this SKS. I used my 'Slab' st key, 'June' bug and Zig-Zag bugs. Only propagation for me was 30,40 and 80. Ant. was OCFD at 50' God bless and happy Thanksgiving.73
First try at this Sprint. Lots of fun. Will try agn next month. K3 @80 Watts to an OCF wire at 30 feet.
Could only squeeze in 20 mins; but it was great fun.
Not much time to play radio tonight, grandkids are at the door.
Conditions were good tonight with John N0TA as load as ever.
Hope to put in more time in the next WES.
great start- then 40 went south--- great operators once agn-- CU next month..73//W7GVE
Never made it out of 40 meters tonight. The band seemed to hold up pretty well. My apologies to a couple of stations I just couldn't pull out of the noise. I always hate to lose one. See you all next month.
80 Meters was great tonight. Low noise and good clean signals. I played S&P for the whole time and notice my rate was pretty low. Anyway, thanks for the contacts! It's always fun. 1922 Bug & KX3 @ 5W to 135' doublet on a hill in a high valley of WV. 72! CU all for the December WES in a few weeks. Happy Thanksgiving!
Nothing heard here on 20 mtr but 40 and 80 were busy. Didn't get a very big score but had fun!
I didn't get much time to operate, but sure had fun with the little time I had! Forty and 80m sounded better tonight than they had the past few nights. YAY! Thanks everyone. ~73~
Only able to work last half hour. Speed-X key and 5 watts into a dipole at 25ft. Tnx to all who copied my sig. 20m dead, but 40m Ok.
Could only spend the last half hour in the sprint due to a 13 hour day at the salt-mines (hi hi), so only a handful of contacts. Kinda rough on this old fella! Anyway, I used my IC-7200, 50 watts to an all-band vertical. Big ole Kent Straight Key. Many thanks to all.
40m was in great shape tonight. I stayed on 7.057 the entire time. Thanks for all the calls! Yaesu FT-450D 100W w/ 1960 Vibroplex Original for all but 1 QSO. The other one was with a J-38 who asked for a QRS. 73 de Jon WB5KSD
Great sprint - 40 opened to the west coast earlier than usual. Thanks to the organizers, 73 tom.
80M only. Lots of fun - I look forward to the next
Only had time for a few QSOs again but since we're getting into more winter-like propagation I made a few contacts on 40m this time. Maybe I'll try 80m next month! Rig this month is Flex 3000 at 5w into an 80m dipole at 25 feet, the key is a 1941 Vibroplex Original. I haven't used it in a month or so and you could really tell, sorry about that and thanks for listening for my QRP station! 73 de Kerry, WD5ABC
5 QRP QSOs on 20 meters, followed by 5 QRP QSOs on 40 meters. There seems to be a pipeline between my QTH and K8AQM, as Ted was strong on both bands and gave me a great report. Thanks, Ted. Nice to play in a sprint after a long layoff. de WD8KRV
40m seemed only band working here in NC. Once again, thanks all for another fun SKS. 73 Pete
Thanks to the five people who were able to pull my QRP signal out of the noise. Used Ten-Tec QRP rig and low dipole.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
