DX-TRAVAGANZA SOAPBOX

K0LWV - Larry
My first SKCC. I enjoyed it but would have liked my activity. Lots of stations on but
very few seemed to understand a contest was going on. Very good, clear, static free
conditions here.

KC4TM - Terry
Got 25 featured points in the DX-T contest with K5EWJ (thanks for QSO Cookie). Only
contact I made....didn't know about the contest. 73

G0RDO - John
Had a lot of fun with this DXT, and used a great big monster of a GPO Double Current Key
from around 1900's. Need to unwind now for a week or so - Merry Christmas !

N1GKE - Myrton
Now that was fun. In spite of all the other activity on the bands, it was really nice to
hear so many stations from the SKCC group. Many thanks to all for your patience. I'm glad to
finally see some DX in this event too. It is also nice to meet the new folks in SKCC and at
the same time say hello to yester-friends. A casual event to help promote SKCC and C.W.
I'm looking forward to the next event.

VK4TJ - John
As usual, I had difficulty getting the attention of the few USA stations I could hear
well enough to work. It seems we DX only get a chance when the well runs dry - ANY
domestic station will be stronger than ANY DX station! Great QSO's with Bert, F6HKA on 4
bands. We'll try to extend that to 6 bands soon.

N2JNZ - George
had a great time !! Bill , NT9K and Bert , W5ZR on 3 bands and Bert F6HKA on 2 bands !!
many thanks !!!Enjoying the Vizkey 90 Bug VERY much !! Should have at least my DX10 or new
award very close. Thanks to all who worked me including Uncle Milt , K4OSO ..hehe. This
once again shows the CW lives very well thank you !! The bands were buzzin with CW. May
thanks to Bill , NT9K and Randy , KB4QQJ for their hard work in putting the whole thing
together !! Now I will be swamped with DX applications ......... :( ......... hehehe

KC9KHG - Randy
Thanks to everyone for a fun weekend!I even climbed my 65' tower with it snowing to check
the feed line on the beam so I could use it Sunday! Thanks to the behind the scene folks
that put this on...you guys are the best!

73 & Merry Christmas to all!
Randy,KC9KHG

WA1AR - Alan
Well I forgot the start time was Friday evening. Ended up watching some stupid TV show.
Saturday morning I decided to check the bands and heard CQ DXT. Anyway I got some time
in Saturday and Sunday morning, then I had to take care of 12 inches of snow and after
that Sunday afternoon football. I like the 48 hour format but did not get to use it
effectively. I worked 17 US stations. The DX stations are: G0RDO, F6HKA, G4LMW, EA1EVA,
PC8E, FG8AR, KL8DX, LW3EX, VE6RAC, I0QM. One of these days Ill get to work Stan ZL2BLQ.
And the special stations were G4LMW,KA3KHQ. I heard Cookie 5nn on 20M just as I got the
dinner call when I came back he was gone. That comes to 17+50+50=117... I think.

AC2C - Ron
It was a real "fun fer all" event.

K5EWJ - Cookie
Conditions were pretty good except for 10 meters. I had hoped for more participation and
had visions of 300 QSOs, but not to be. It was fun! Forty was pretty busy, as was
twenty with the RAC Contest and a lot of RTTY, but there were enough holes for us. I
worked 11 DXCC countries. It was great to have quite a few DX stations join us. I
worked 14 different DX stations. I hope everybody had fun and that many of you were able
to work some DX. I regret that MM5PSL was not able to participate because of some nasty
weather on his Shetland Island.

KB4QQJ - Randy
First things first. A big thanks to all the featured operators! Great job guys. sorry to
hear from Peter about weather damage, but there will be other times. I'm just glad he is
warm and safe.
Despite a heavy snow fall and ice where we rarely get more than a inch or three, I had a
ball. It was great to see all the DX stations turn out. I'm already looking at some of you
DX stations as "Featured Ops" in the Summer DXT!!! With all the bad weather that went
through the south east, I'm pleased with the turn out. I want to see more scores entered
though!! I worked a lot more people than there are scores!! Come on guys pony up!
Strongest signal this time was Bert, F6HKA, who was peaking on 30 over on two bands!! Must
be a "Bert" thing with all that RF. It was a lot of fun and I appreciate everybody's
participation.
73 es see you in this weeks SKS!
A Merry Christmas to All
Randy_KB4QQJ

I0QM - Bob
I attended with the conviction of being completely out of the game and being able to give
my QSO point only to a very few friends. I put every effort during the night, and try to
beat the noise using a filter so tight that it certainly has cut off many useful signals.
I did listen on other frequencies were absolutely impossible, except eighty meters where
SKCC friends, as Myrton N1GKE, came much stronger than forty meters, but could not QSO
because no antenna here. The noise floor always over a real 'S9+10', then I had to take
advantage of the favorable instant, too short or fast vanish. Thus it was, and by day with
the sunlight, I could not make even a single contact. That was impossible to put any
frequency call on the K3UK sked page. Then a very lazy game from this side. Got 28 SKCC's.
Nice the QSO with John N8ZYA from West Virginia with his QRP and indoor/internal antenna.
Another gift came from John VK4TJ, with a much appreciated DX QSO. Thank you both.
Listened Fred VE3FAL in QSO with stations that I did barely listen, I waited too long, and
was gone. Thanks Rob G4LMW, Cookie K5EWJ and Randy KC9KHG, who have given me the final
gift to have 75 bonus points. There is much to learn with weak signals and CW. Thanks to
all the friends of the great SKCC club, had a great time. 73 Bob.

G4LMW - Rob
Thanks Randy for organising this event. Had a great time in the time that having a young
family allowed. A pleasure to be one of the featured stations. Was pleased to have Bill
NT9K as the first in the log and delighted he was so active for the weekend. Good on you Bill.

Bert, F6HKA deserves special mention. He must have been QRV for the full 48 hrs !! Thanks
for supporting SKCC so well from EU Bert. Watch for his score.......

Seasons Greetings to all..... Rob

KT4FJ - Mike
Didn't hear many stations but did manage to chat with G4LMW. Thanks for the bonus points
Rob!

AF2Z - Drew
Busy weekend, plus snowstorm, put a crimp in my participation. Just got one contact for
the record: Bert F6HKA. But at least it was DX! Next time...

K5EWJ - Cookie
The scoring seems to be a question for some, including me. As I understant Bill's recent
post, I resubmitted my score figured thus:

Contacts 108= 108
DX contacts (included in the 108)= 15 X 5 = 75
Contacts G4LMW=1,VE3FAL=1,KC9KHG=4. 6X25= 150
Total Points = 333

My first score I did not count DX in the total, just USA

DX JQ2GYU,20; G4LMW,40; F6HKA,40,20; VE3FAL,40; XE1GXG,20; G3ASG, 20; M0ETY,20; LW3EX,15;
VK4TJ,20; I0QM,40; VE1BA,20; VE3CWU,20;KL8DX,20; 9A2VJ,40

VE3CWU - Bob
Had lot's of fun on DXT. Spent the first 24 hours of DXT working the RAC Canada Day test
with the Club (VE3MIS). Worked mostly phone on Canada Day, but my CW skills are slightly
improving, and did manage to scoop a few CW mults for the club on the mult station. Had
intentions of starting DXT at 00:00 Sunday (7pm local Saturday night) when RAC Canada Day
finished, but was too bagged to do that. Went to the Club station Sunday morning to work
DXT - much better antennae there than at home! Arrived early (11:00UTC - 07:00 local) to
try and get a few (real) DX contacts before the bands went kapooy (is that a word?). It
worked! I'm learning. Thanks again to the many SKCC volunteer co-ordinators, and thanks
to the SKCC members for their numbers. Bob, VE3CWU

KQ1P - John
It was a busy weekend and I could only operate for short periods of time. Typically I can work work anyone I hear at
>S4, but not this weekend. Thanks to those who were able to copy me and to the others who tried to pull me out of the
noise. Now that the sunspot count has finally started to climb up again, next year's DXT should be a bit more exciting.
Thanks SKCC for some good operating in 2009.

N6DIT - DENNIS

W5ZR - Bert
With family due here this weekend I did not expect to be able to enter; but weather
delayed their arrival and I was able to get on Friday nite and a bit on Saturday morning.
The activity level was good, and propagation was decent. 55 contacts and half of them
were DX. Thanks for a great time. Season's Greetings to all.
73 Bert

F6HKA - Bert
Many thanks everyone for this very nice weekend.
I have been active on a total of 24 hours.
contacts 118 = 118
DX 118 = 590
Bonus 9 = 225
Merry Christmas and Happy New year all and see you in the next SKCC activity.
Bert

NT9K - Bill
Thank you Randy KB4QQJ, for all the work you did on this event. Thank you to the Special
Operators and especially to the DX for participating! Another thank you goes to the
members who have donated funds for the DX Award Plaques. It takes lots of support for
events like this and when we asked for support, we got it!

It was nice to see all the DX working the event! Bert F6HKA seemed to be the star dx op
and was loud everytime I heard him. I had a couple firsts for myself in this event. I got
to work my very first ever DX on 80m with F6HKA and G4LMW. Guess it paid off getting up at
0245am to work them? I worked 17 dx countries, too many to list here, but I thank you all
for your support and the QSO's too. I only slept about 8 hours during the 48 hours of
this event. Towards the end it showed. The last hour, I was trying to work 160m/80m with
my 40m loop. That just doesn't work very well. Figured it out in time and snagged a QSO
with Cookie on 160 and then with Milt on 80m to close out the contest.
Thanks everyone for all the fun. This was the most fun that I have had on the air in a
long time!

Contacts 40 = 40
DX Contacts 17 = 85
Special Op Bonus 8 = 200
Total Score = 325
73, Bill NT9K

K0KEX - Rick
As I look back to January this year when I joined the SKCC group and take stock in
what I have accomplished to date...WOW!!!...here in Platte & Clay counties in Missouri
there are several new members that have joined the group. They have listened to the
fun that I have been having and decided to get on board. I want to thank all the
stations that are involved on a regular basis and encourage the NEW members to
take that first step. This DXT was my first, My thanks to F6HKA, G0RDO, G4LMW,
LW3EX, & VE3CWU along with ALL stations I worked during the event. Even with limited
time due to holiday activities I had a great time. One highlight was finding K5EWJ,
Cookie on 160 Friday evening. Congratulations to all that participated, Thanks to all
that make this possible....you know who you are.....
To everyone a "Very Merry Christmas" from Missouri....73

VE3FAL - Fred
Had a blast working this event. Wish I could have had more operating time and that the
propagation Godz would have been kinder to all of us.
Played till 4:00am friday night in the RAC Winter Contest from our EOC and then chores to
do on Saturday with Christmas coming.
I operated QRO at 50 watts for this event,so I hope to work you same folks QRP to try and
finish off my C application QRP only from my end.
Happy Holidays all.

Congratulations to all participants. I continue to be impressed with the progress club
members are making with their CW skills. Keep up the excellent work. Wishing everyone a
Blessed Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. If you are in a
position to, it is still not too late to help a needy family...a neighbor or coworker or a
child in need. You will be the one who really receives "the gift of helping others". As
Nike says, "Just Do It".73
