Instructions:
DOWNLOAD W5ZRSKCC320.ZIP into any empty folder.
UnZip W5ZRSKCC320.ZIP and get 4 files, including SETUP.EXE.
Click on SETUP.EXE to install the program. Accept the default directory.
Once installed, Click on the START button on your WIndows Desktop, then
select ALL PROGRAMS.
Find SKCC in the list of programs - it has a US Flag Icon.
Click on the SKCC icon and it will run.
The setup routine has created two icons for a shortcut, click on one of these and hold the mouse button down while you drag and drop it onto your desktop.
Note that SKCC is a full stand-alone Windows program.
* If you download this new version to replace the older version, be sure to BACKUP your old data files so that you can RESTORE your old files once the new version is installed on your computer. Your old program (the SKCC FOLDER) will have to be deleted before installing this new version.
*If you are installing to Windows Vista or Windows 7, and get an error during the install;
note the error - write down the filename shown in the error (usually it is a .DLL file)
Then open SETUP.LST using WordPad (Click on the SETUP.LST filename, then select the
option OPEN WITH... and choose WordPad) - SETUP.LST is one of the four files you downloaded.
The SETUP.LST file will open on your screen. Look down the list to find the line which contains the filename that you noted above as the error.
Place your curser at the very end of this line, and then use the BACKSPACE key to erase this line completely. Then BACKSPACE one more time to remove the empty line.
You will see that each of these lines is numbered with FILE1= File2= etc.
Now renumber the lines following the deleted line so that the numbers are in sequence - change the number that is following the word FILE in each case.
Save the SETUP.LST file as you exit - be sure you SAVE the changed file.
Now run SETUP.EXE again. If another error occurs, then do the above routine again.
K2RFP Helper2
mysite.verizon.net/rnpav/zip/helper2-setup.zip
The K2RFP Helper2 program has two parts:
1) it provides a mini database for storing messages you use
frequently on the SKCC Sked web page.
2) it does an SKCC lookup and provides a mini database for
stations you have worked.
It uses the same local copy of the database that the sprint
logger program does. You can choose to use either or both
parts of the Helper2 program. It has a very small footprint
and takes up a very small amount of screen area.
K2RFP Sprint Logger
mysite.verizon.net/rnpav/zip/sprintlogger-setup.zip
This a simple logging program designed specifically for SKCC CW sprints.
K2RFP Sprinter's Paper Logsheet
mysite.verizon.net/rnpav/zip/paper-log.pdf
This is a .pdf file that can be used for paper logging during sprints. It
produces an 8.5 x 11 inch page in landscape format. If desk space is limited at your
station you can cut or fold the log sheet in half and use it with a small
clipboard.
